Halo 5 running 60 FPS and having dedicated servers, what more can you possible ask for?

The removal of all the bullshit gameplay they added in Reach and Halo 4 for starters. Go back to your roots. Everyone starting on an even playing field, no AA's, loadouts, kill streaks, etc.

I was idly watching the conference on Spike, texting someone when this trailer came on. I'm always secretly hoping for a Halo announcement when I watch gaming events.

I almost had a heart attack when I saw Chief's helmet. The trailer was so different looking from other Halo announcements.

Frankie said the robe was Chief's attempt to mask his appearance. Looks like Chief's gone rogue. I'm beyond psyched.

Why is he wearing a robe when he's a supersoldier armored in space robot armor?

Sand/sandblast from sandstorms + machinery = a tech nightmare, and an age-old problem for the human race well into the future?

Apparently the enemy has this problem all figured out, even hiding in the sand and all. :D

I really wonder if 343 is listening to the fans or if they are going to continue ruining Halo. I'll wait for impressions to see if H5 ends up returning to what made halo great.

My first thought upon seeing the mysterious cloaked figure was "Haha, I bet that's either the Chief or Marcus Fenix".
Never would've thought that the chief in full armor would seriously be beneath it.

Chief was wearing the cloak to obsure his appearance, but he's a seven foot tall metal clad space marine. No number of rags are going to obscure that, haha.

I figured it was Halo from the start, since no other Microsoft first party franchise featured a character model they'd want to keep hidden for a bit, if only to show the dramatic reveal moments later. Still, it was a nice reveal and a solid announce trailer. The War Sphinx looks great.

That said, I'm in the odd place of being totally unexcited for a new Halo game. It's almost muscle memory for me to get hyped at the thought of a new Halo title, but Halo 4 was such a disappointment on all fronts, I can get excited for neither the fiction nor the gameplay.

Still, I'll follow development news on the game, particularly when 343 starts talking about the gameplay. What would get me excited for the game would be news of what 343 is not doing, as much as what they plan to do. The pitch that would start to sell me is, Halo *insert subtitle here* features a back to basics approach to Halo's gameplay, streamlining or removing features such as global ordnance, perks, armor abilities, etc.

I don't want an evolution of Halo 4, but a dramatic refinement/paring back of the systems added would pique my interest. Essentially, acknowledgement that the myriad problems 343 introduced to the game are ones they recognize as mistakes, rather than repeating them. Otherwise, I'll keep my distance.

Chief, still wearing MK.VI and a cracked visor?! Smells like the chief has gone rogue against ONI, in order to search for cortana and follow the geass/genesong implanted by the Librarian. OOhhh the possibilities with that :D

How about returning to the Halo gameplay we all came to love with the Original trilogy. And leave all the infinity crap from Halo 4 behind.

Know how you feel bro. The only way I could maintain my excitement for a regular Halo release is if Bungie were at helm.

60fps and dedicated servers won't bring me back if they double down on the stupidity introduced in Halo 4.

I am thinking it would be interesting to see what happens with/to MC without any UNSC support...I would love to see something like that.

Really thought this was a Destiny reveal from the cloak.

What an epic troll from 343 to Bungie.

A jaw dropper this conference when it was revealed who the cloaked jedi-like figurine is.

That was stupid. A robe? Really?

Well this is the same company that thought...

  • Getting rid of Local Search
  • Getting rid of Fightfight
  • Getting rid of Brutes
  • Getting rid of Plasma Rifle
  • Adding Ordnance
  • Adding custom loadouts
  • Adding Specializations
  • Adding default sprint
  • Keeping abilities
  • Adding QTES
  • Making Smaller levels
  • Revealing Chiefs face

Was a good idea.

Its only natural they add a Robe to a guy in a Powersuit.

This is essentially how I feel, though for me it's important to note the barrier that the Xbox One is serving right now. I will not be buying an Xbox at that price (I can't afford it), and I will not buy an Xbox until Microsoft drops all of its DRM policies.

This'll be the first Halo where I probably won't be there on launch day playing the game since I first played the franchise back in 2005. It's making me very, very sad, and it feels a little weird.

Maybe he's a Space Monk now.

Looking forward to see where they'll be taking it next but going to have to skip out on it.
