I'm talking bout as a fashion symbol.

I've travelled so much of the world n have seen both everywhere. Clothes, stores, pencil cases, earrings, stickers, keychains. Shit everywhere. I'd say the Jamaican flag is third but still no way near these 2. Manz also seen the German, French and Italian about but still limited.

Which do u guys think is bigger?

Bonus question. Non UK and US Gaf. Which design do u prefer.?

The American Flag is the bigger symbol. The British flag barely covers 2/3rds of the America's 50 stars portion. The difference is huge!

America has more people and being overtly patriotic is a national pass time. The sheer volume of chinese manufactured star spangled merchandise and garments is astronomical.

I couldn't get over the staggering popularity of Vespas with Union Flags on them in China.

It's not the like Vespa is even British, so I'm not sure what that's about..

In terms of design I strongly prefer the British flag, but the US flag is obviously the more universally recognised symbol that solicits the strongest feelings from people.

I'm part of the Commonwealth and I think it's obvious that the Stars and Stripes are more powerul icons than the Union Jack.

But here and now in 2013 of course it's all bout 'Murica. Things change...?

Purely anecdotal but when I was living in Japan not a day went by without seeing the Union Jack on clothes, bags, pencil cases; when I left last year it was quite mad just how prevalent it had become.

I don't think I ever saw the stars and stripes on anything.

Disclaimer: I'm a Brit.

I think design-wise, both are great - but I think the context about the meaning of both flags could help appreciation of both.

I'm Canadian. Both flags command respect (don't read too much into this), but I think the American flag is a bigger and more powerful symbol. Perhaps some of that patriotism is spilling over the border.

How about them accents though. I fucking love British accents.

And the British accent was perfected with the New Zealand accent which is the best in the world.

the union jack makes me think of murdering thieving pirate slavers
funny how we all see different things

My own country's flag would be much worse for this. The Dutch were among the biggest assholes in history.
The slaving thing is kind of over though. Patriotism sadly isn't.

you seem to think the dutch and the english are a different bunch of people
i take it you mean dutch

I am Dutch yes, and I think few Britons would judge themselves to be the same as Dutch people. Certainly, Britons tend to make it quite clear they want little to do with anyone or anything on the continent :p.
