Will DTL survive this?

Asuna's actually 17 by the 2 year mark. (Kirito's 16)

To answer your sex comment, Chapter 16.5 in the web version of the light novel. Don't do it.

Episode 15 is where the fun begins. Surprisingly there's actually better action in the half of the season people hate the most.

You can feel, but you can't feel *pain*. You'll find out why at the end of the season.
You can feel pain , it's just reduced.
You're confused
because in the end game it's amplified beyond normal levels.
Pain is reduced because too much pain in the virtual world ( at once ) lead to after effects IRL especialy on the nerves

Not bad.
Slayers TRY 1

New OP is crap compared to the last two shows. Just getting that out of the way.

Question: When am I supposed to watch the Slayers movies?

Wait, why is the commercial break image Gourry helping out Chibi Sailor Moon?

Compared to Milgasia,
Filia's dragon form is downright adorable.

Slayers Movies ? Forget about them.
The slayers Oavs are watchable however.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
idea if that's good or bad since I never watched C.

C is not a good show, so it's understandable why people would be concerned over elements reminiscent of it. It was also produced by Tatsunoko. But, still, the writer and animation director for Gatchaman Crowds were brought over from Tsuritama. So like anything pre-release, there's positive things and negative things going for it and you can't know how the balance between them will work out until the show airs.

I'm wondering about the score, here.

Taku Iwasaki is composing the soundtrack for Gatchaman Crowds. It will feature futuristic, stylish, and aggressive music. The ED theme is sold along with the OST, so I think it's composed by Iwasaki too.

ED Theme - "Innocent Note" by Maaya Uchida (as Hajime Ichinose)

Full cast list (thanks Ikari, I just copied and pasted :p):

Paiman - Aya Hirano

Excellent. Just about everything announced about this show so far has gotten me more hyped for it.

Fine, I'll watch this for more Mamoru.

Great to see the swimming aspect of the show finally but it's not what I expected. I was expecting more swim meets with other schools. Also it looked very weird when they trying to take their shirts off.

Should have done magical boy transformations instead.

Crazy nonsensical shadows all over the screen, little animation, attempts to ape Shinbo/Dezaki - yep, this looks like Oonuma/Silver Link.
I don't think it is fair to say "attempts to ape" in regards to Shin Ōnuma when he also helped to define their stance for animation-making on that new era of the studio, being a essential part (like Tatsuya Oishi still is) of the actual 'Team Shinbō'.

Akiyuki Shinbō trains staff and oversees it EVERYTHING in there, but apparently also lets the team members be:

Has Miyazaki really lost it?!

It's hard to tell which is which yet, but the producer confirmed at the press conference that the film will feature a mono only soundtrack and that for the fighter plane engine sound effects, they've decided to employ a technique of recording effects produced by human vocals.

This, combined with the fact that the lead role in the film is played by Hideaki Anno, makes the audio in the film potentially jarring. Anno is the director of Evangelion. He's 53 years old, and he's not a professional voice actor or normal actor in any capacity. He is an animator and a director. But it doesn't seem to have deterred Miyazaki from casting him in the lead role of a young man. Super weird.
He won’t be a professional actor but tries so hard with a nice and varied repertoire of gestures that it is at least a commendable effort compared to many others (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=57348274&postcount=9597)!

Anyway... 'oh my' at that news! I was talking with some other guys a couple of days ago (in part jokingly) about the possibility of Mr. Miyazaki going all the way and interpreting the omniscient narrator for the film (like Caproni's character does for punctual comments about technical and historic matters on the proper graphical novel which spawns this upcoming film), as he kind of does usually on the very same Daydream Data Notes (妄想ノート), where he even converses with the reader... loose adaptation into Porco Rosso notwithstanding!

I'd say he's lost it.
Well, the title is also translated as Delusion Notebook at times, so maybe part of the reason is a more faithful adaptation of his own fleeting and passing ideas... this is an unrestrained Miya! :-D

This is just a random thought for now, but how would you guys feel about an AnimeGAF awards show?
The improvised one hosted by Ultimadrago can be a good reference. :)

What was weird?, I thought it was an excellent way to show their intense emotions for the scene.

It's a very :dtl way of showing intense emotion, anyway :p.

Orguss - 05

On this episode our protag sad because fail to get new member in harem.

Ok, so I'm behind on the thread and haven't kept up with all of your impressions. Orguss is a show I've meant to watch due to it's inclusion in the ACE and/or SRW games (can't remember which ones off the top of my head). Anyway, is this worth watching?

indeed, it turns out to be a weapon of mass destruction, and the proof is in the really goddamn good effects animation that accompanies the demolition of a building:
Ben sure drooled over that scene:

Doraemon 2011 movie: Nobita and the Robot Army - Anipages said:
(...)the scene where Shizuka accidentally causes the robot to destroy a building is basically the same as the original. Except that now, when the building explodes, it explodes and crumbles with an Akira level of maniacally detailed animation.

This was probably animated by Takashi Hashimoto. The animation of the explosion seems like his style. The animation of the building collapsing is impressively detailed. I haven't seen this level of detail of a building collapsing since Shinya Ohira's animation in Akira. Doraemon isn't where I expected to see it.

Time and freedom when working on a well-established property (and a staff that tries to impress again thanks to it) has its perks.

Man that music, so good. I guess it's just a difference of opinion. Some of the GG/MS games were more akin to Mario's style of platforming than the more traditional "Gotta Go Fast" of the Mega Drive games. But then I'm biased.
That's what I've been told after all this years of the first Sonic the Hedgehog being the only one of the saga I've played; I got my SEGA Master System II console in a good offer for a bundle with that game included, but bought it mainly to play the magnificent Wonder Boy series. I liked that first Sonic and since then I've always wondered if the other versions of the games were really that different, to the point of not making the necessary step to purchase another at the time. I shall rectify that, someday...

I just want to mention that Francis Kaneda Paul Ano-Ñuevo is a freaking awesome name.
Those are two different people! Francis Kaneda is one, and Paul Año-Nuevo is the other, both 'resident' workers at TAP.

I know. I was being super facetious. The story just shits on your heart.

Oh god does it

I cant imagine watching the anime over such a long period of time as youre doing. I watched it all (after story) in one day.

I probably would but it just doesn't fit with my schedule. It does make you stew on events a lot more.

Dammit, you sure go fast with these! Whatever you do, don't drop it. More feels are to come.

oh great

the feels are in maximum overdrive

Can't tell yet because I just 5 episode in, but its have all the charm that SDF has.

Yeah Orguss featured heavily in SRW Z series and owns, one of the reason I want to try the anime.

Cool. Still have to finish Votoms first...might have to marathon the rest (I'm about halfway). I kinda wish these newer mecha shows had protags more like Chirico.

Probably not. Most storyboards are too rough to nail down exact character proportions. That would be up to the layout artist and/or the key animator assigned to the cut.

But the animator on this particular cut might not be the problem; if the character always has that elongated neck, then it's a problem with the anime character design.
One key animator/layout designer can't go astray that much! As I understand it, the supervision's responsibility (including additional layout changes, like on continuity checks) would fall more onto the animation director or episode director roles (in case there is something personally seen as off or unwanted, to be changed) that should always indicate the posture and composition corrections by themselves. On this cyclic back-and-forth work between layers of staffers even the most important links of the production chain are affected. Which leads us to this:

Unless you have literally one or two guys making the entire anime then you can't, with complete confidence, say that this is all part of one person's vision.
The tight control and continuous feedback necessary that, while tremendously exhausting for the omnipresent supervisor, is many times imposed on such animation system process can make it a very close approach to achieving an unique vision, compared to different mediums offering other kinds of collaborative projects.

Oh, I see. That makes sense. I guess I was thinking of layouts, but I'm pretty sure key animators are usually the ones that do those, right?
What I've seen mentioned habitually is senior key animators doing layouts for themselves, or for other lower-level key animators that they could use. There are workers with that task specifically assigned to them, though (and consequently only credited as such).

Related to this topic was my interest in seeing sometime further translated the ‘GAINAX Animation Lecture’ (GAINAXアニメ講義) series, as those featured information that, although considered basic by some, was presented by the most representative members (at the time) from the studio. And Tadashi Hiramatsu was responsible of some valuable lessons for the juniors about layouts and their overall importance (http://www.gainax.co.jp/staff-info/2010/12/).

At least we received this opening part by Mr. Tsurumaki as a gift to make us eager for more:

My conclusion is... I just don't enjoy watching Doraemon. Something about the entire setup is unappealing to me. The characters are too much like actual dumb kids, and the sort of slapstick comedy it uses doesn't work for me at all. Additionally, the premise feels very predictably like the sort of kids show where the protagonist consecutively does dumb shit which he will regret later, and the entire process is a build up to a "lesson" of sorts on the consequences of doing such dumb shit. I really find that sort of stuff boring, even when I was a kid.
You do well in not forcing your way through it, but:

I never liked blatantly didactic children's entertainment either. And it can't be denied that Doraemon as a franchise is based around that idea - Nobita gets into scrapes because of mistakes he's made and Doraemon bails him out and teaches him a valuable lesson and such. But I didn't feel like Nobita's Dinosaur 2006 went too far in that direction; it's more a light-hearted adventure film, especially once the kids go back in time.
I'd say that's certainly part of the initial set up and, indeed, I think one of the appeals of the movie is that the characters do act like stupid kids because that makes their exploits more interesting and exciting. However, with express regard to you bolded text, the main thrust of the movie is not about learning from your mistakes. It's far more of a light hearted adventure movie once you get about 30 minutes into the story.
Exactly! One of the best things of the yearly films is that they first condense what the series is recognizable for as a establishing point to later go all out on the setting. Having put up with the repetitive characters stitch for a long time (thing you end up very familiar with and can even see as gentle custom in the long term) is what makes for a recompense, in the form of a full-fledged adventure, that is a much more enjoyable experience... and any slightly character mold-breaking moment made more poignant.

After rewatching Evangelion 3.0 last night,
why are there no good Eva games?
Please, check out the good ol' GAINAX Network Systems’ developed Neon Genesis Evangelion: Iron Maiden!

Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Ikuto Yamashita & more participated on what was the winner of a "Best Interactive Software' award at the 2nd Animation Kobe event... which is the most prestigious one they could possibly receive at that place (http://web.archive.org/web/20041027173200/http://www.gainax.co.jp/special/evamovie/kobe-e.html), don't you think? :p

sorry, not from the LD version of the video, just VHS will do.

I'll add a clarification about this image because of other comments about it I have seen; it is an illustration made precisely by Tadashi Hiramatsu to cross-promote the upcoming animated project Wake Up, Girls!, but it actually features the characters of Mr. Hiramatsu & Mr. Yamamoto's Einsatz novel (or it could be considered a light novel?), and of course the very same Yamakan is represented on it! Not to be confused with the actual characters that are going to star on the new series (unless there are some cameos on it for these ones, of course).

Pretty much, yeah! :-D

Also, the Sakura Tange character was revealed by the cast listing to be the modern equivalent of main antagonist Sosai X:
