I'm sure they'll tie it up somehow in MGSV. At least we should give them the chance, IMO. I can see a few ways it could plausibly have happened.

Such as? I really want to know because it's an impressive fuck-up, and even more impressive would be a solution that makes any tangible amount of sense.

Well, Big Boss changes quite a lot from Peace Walker to MGSV by the looks of it, right? By the end of MGSV, he may have changed so much that he is able to convince Zero, who you have to remember has always looked up to Big Boss, that he has come 'round to the Patriots' point of view. Maybe Miller will be the one running Outer Heaven on the surface, with Big Boss denouncing it and telling Zero that he wants to help clean up the mess he has started, which causes him to be appointed as the commanding officer of FOXHOUND.

This is just a quick and dirty idea off the top of my head, but I'm sure something like that could work.

There's clearly some kind of visual element, since we seen him take off the sunglasses and fix the hair to become Liquid.

Although it does give me this funny image of Mantis and Ocelot giggling in the background, and Liquid going, "Shh! Shh! Keep it down, you guys! I'm going to tell him we need three keys to SHUT DOWN Metal Gear!" and that just sets the two of them off.

(Yes, I know Mantis is dead then. Shut up.)

But that would mean they have a camera on them the entire time?? Or nano machines map out their facial structure lol.

It would make sense for Miller to change names after the Outer Heaven incident, which is presumeably when he fled to Alaska. The name Kazuhira Miller isn't exactly common, and at this point irreversiblt associated with Big Boss. It makes sense for him to change it.

And Big Boss was the commander of FOXHOUND at the time of the Outer Heaven incident. I'm sure this will be explored, either in MGSV or 6.

People also seem to forget that the real Master Miller was introduced in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, and in that game he was helping Solid Snake take down Big Boss again. So the question is why in the hell did Miller change sides? Or is Kojima going to say that he was playing Snake all along and always worked for Big Boss. The introduction of Kaz in Peace Walker has seriously screwed things up in terms of the overall plot of the series.

Also, with the whole Liquid impersonating Miller what people don't seem to understand is that the deception was half a deception to Snake and half a deception to the player. Remember, the codec is an audio communication device, Snake can't actually see the person he is talking to, so the fact that Liquid is wearing Sunglasses in his codec picture makes no sense. And then when he reveals who he is he states to Snake, "did you like my sunglasses?" Again, this makes zero sense to Snake since he could never see Liquid when he was talking to him, it only makes sense to the player hence why that scene is so hilarious.

But the role of Kaz brings up a minor annoyance I have with the series now, the fact that every character, even minor ones, from past games are suddenly SUPER important and they either all know each other or are related. The Patriots just turned out to be your support team from MGS3, Otacon's dad turns out to be one of the creators of Metal Gear and knew Big Boss, Master Miller is actually responsible for the creation of Outer Heaven, Ocelot is a Patriot and has been in contact with pretty much every character in the series, etc.

Next thing you know we're going to find out that the fry cook in the Mother Base mess hall is actually Dr. Madnar who we in fact find out is actually Dr. Emmerich who faked his death after Otacon slept with his step mom to go back to working with Big Boss but in reality is a secret agent sent by Cipher to spy on Big Boss and sabotage Metal Gear, but it turns out that he was Ocelot all along, a quadruple agent, and that Ocelot and Decoy Octopus are the same character and the Decoy Octopus that died in MGS1 was in fact a decoy himself.

I'd imagine if nano machines can cause vibrations quiet enough where you can hear the person but not generate audible outside noise, along with amplifying technology where mere whispers can sound like room level speech, that a visual hud appearing in the center or corner of someone's vision isn't a stretch.

Imagine the next step or steps above google glass. Seeing a visual representation of someone that also has nanomachines makes sense. Anyone with nanomachines can change to a frequency in real time. They are probably doing this by using their mind to change a number they see via visual hud generated in front of them.

I was talking about the source of the image! If I can see somebody because of a Codec transmission, who's filming them??

No one. Snake sees a virtual representation of the other person due to nano machines from both users creating a image of the other person. The nano machines essentially reach into the users mind and outputs how a specific person views themselves at the most current moment.

You're reading it!?

Oh, how I envy you! Where did you get it?

Most curious to see Solidus, only because he'll be an actual young adult most likely around that time. I think during the time of Phantom Pain (especially depending on how large a span the time the game covers), Solidus is working in the paramilitaries of the CIA.

How much younger is Solidus compared to his "siblings"?

It's a little hard to stretch the believability of accellerated aging to a 7 year old looking like a grown man.

Considering the game series. not really.

I hope Frank Jaeger makes an appearance in this game.

Calling it now, the after credit audio will be something about a Snake Clone without advanced aging or that this is a way to reverse the aging process.

Nah it will be a post credit sequence with Solid Snake meeting Big Boss for the firs time and he will be voiced by none other than David Hayter.

Haha, spot on. It's really irritating how small the MGS universe has become.

That actually makes a lot of sense. So will that mean BB convinces Zero that he has reformed according to Zero's view for the Patriots, but is in actuality, working behind-the-scenes with Kazuhira to take down Cipher/Patriots from the inside, seeing as outside attacks didn't work against the secret organization? That would make up the plot of MGSV and will fit in with the new revenge plotline, allowing for Kojima to make sense of the original MG1 as part of the revenge arc, continued from MGSV.

...? I would have went with sonar(SOund Navigation And Ranging) or Radar (RAdio Detection And Ranging).

But to make it interesting lets use light instead of sound or radio, we'll call it LIMAR (Light Mapping And Ranging. or we could just use the real name Lidar (LIght Detection And Ranging).

anyone know whats up with the dithering on the hair textures in the fox engine stuff, seems like something which could easily be avoided/fixed seeing as no other next gen/current gen engines seem to suffer from it. just a bit odd.

That's cuz it's being specced to last-gen at the moment. It's used because proper transparencies are more costly, although the only other games I've seen use that thing are the FF13 games. I imagine when proper work on the PS4one versions start things like that will be fixed. Hopefully.

It's one of those things you're better off not thinking too hard about. At least it makes a little more sense in 3, where you only see still photos from a dossier, or 4,where everyone you call is safely out of the war zone (and apparently in front of a webcam.)

There's a joke here about Rose as a webcam girl, but it's not coming to me.

This. Also the E3 trailer had no tessellation, you can clearly see in some of the screenshots. In the Green Band trailer, the one without the fast forwarding when Big Boss is riding the horse, you will notice that there is quite a lot of pop-in with the foliage. Kojima said the next gen versions, and I'm assuming PC when it happens, will look better than the E3 trailer.

At GDC they showed in the presentation that the Fox engine is capable of tessellation and other things. They showed images with tessellation on/off. I think the PS4/X1/(PC) will look much better.

Her name is Stefanie Joosten, https://twitter.com/stefanieGMJ. I'm going to follow her, even though I don't understand/read Japanese. Time to make a new friend, wish me luck.

Everything in that twitter account is too much in Japanese for a Dutch girl, yep she lives and works there but you would expect at least some Dutch or English every now and then, plus the Japanese that is used there is very advanced and Kanji heavy and everything is work related.

It seems to me that her Agency in Japan is the one doing those tweets

The Everyman
Which is to say, metal gear solid 5 is my most anticipated title since the products will likely be bundled together.

http://www.computerandvideogames.com...ongside-mgs-5/

My only concern is that since it's being developed by a western division, it might be leaning toward the CoD gameplay style.

The emphasis on head shots in mgo1 and mgo2 may have turned away some beginners but it meant a more skill based shooter since getting kills was very reliant on your analog stick aiming ability, and less so on getting the drop on your opponent and map awareness (CoD).

On the plus side i would trust a western developer to place a greater emphasis on tighter netcode for a shooter.

Additional general hopes for mgo3:

- no konami id
- no perks (or at least no grinding for perks/gear)
- same japanese quirkiness (capture the flag turning into capture the frog/KEROTAN and the duck/GA-KO)
- another absolutely BLOOD PUMPING, ADRENALINE GUSHING, KICK ASS OST.

favorite ost tracks for when i needed to kick some ass:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LCSb...731EA&index=10
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ovzgl1RO4AQ

what are your hopes and dreams?

No.

It will never be finished.

Kojima will never be free.

They did not create this engine to only make one MGS game out of it.

It'll be the base for much, much more Metal Gear.

If they're going to keep doing Big Boss's backstory then just go ahead do a remake of Metal Gear. JUST FUCKING DO IT. People want to see Solid Snakes first adventure with modern story telling and graphics.

Why assume her Japanese simply couldn't be that good?
Listen to Kojima's latest podcast. She's doing a lot more than fine.

Speaking decent/passable Japanese is one thing, writing those tweets flawlessly with advance use of Kanjis all over the place is another thing, foreign models working over there usually learn enough Japanese to get them by, but those japanese tweets are in a whole different level of proficiency.

I am sure she's pretty capable of speaking Japanese, but she is still Dutch, and there is CERO Dutch or English on that twitter account, nothing personal from her, just work related.

Her Agency is behind those tweets IMO

You might not agree, but all the signs point to it.

Oh my god! There are things present in this series that are not realistic at all! Kojima is a hack, he can't even make things realistic! And what?! Most of the characters in the series that all serve a pivotal role in the main story somehow know each other and are somehow important? That's so ridiculous! I don't understand!

Please. Stop.

So, would it be safe to say that, during his coma, BB was being used in cloning experiments to develop the twin snakes? It just sounds like the perfect time to get samples and data from BB. But that would mean that either Eli is 9 years old, ages more rapidly or isn't Liquid at all.

Les Enfants Terribles took place in the early 70's, but Liquid and Solid Snake are reportedly born in 72'. Snake falls into his coma in 75', so I don't think there's any connection there, unless we see some other clone or something.

Thank you!

Have you found any interesting connections yet?

Maybe he always looked older when he was younger? I knew kids who had facial hair at 12ish years old, took me few more years than that. 9 is pushing it though for looking like that, even with the cloning stuff.

any info of the differences between next gen ver. and current gen ver.

Nope, just that the footage shown on E3 is aimed to be run on current gen.
Kojima had stated tough, that the game will be polished up to look even better AND will run on 60fps for the next gen consoles.

Izick

Member
Yeah, he wants it to look even better and is aiming for 60FPS/1080p.

I thought it was funny how everyone said "this is next-gen!" when they saw this. It's not that I disagree with them, I thought it was next-gen too. Just goes to show how masterful Kojima is, and also makes me weary of even considering the next-consoles until at least 2014.
