Hnngh part 4
Oh my. Oh my... Oh wow.
I... I can't. Wow...
That was quite fantastic. If one wasn't convinced of this OVA's greatness this should be enough I think. All that sakuga. The direction. Everything about it.
Disappointing BD issues aside and Musashigundohinsms
Wow at that ending. Totally expected but still it was delivered so masterfully. That shot too.
The whole battle/walking sequence was mindblowing really.
Edit: Screenshot album is here btw, spoiler warning and all that.

Folks, personal attacks have no place in here. Or, anywhere else on GAF, really. If one wants to debate there's plenty of actual points and positions to be discussed.

Well that was...tranquil. Seriously dat animation. Dat voice acting. Dat atmosphere.

This looks like something beautiful. I picked watching this show because I was told that it focuses sort of a mother-son relationship (not in the wrong way AnimeGAF), which is something I rarely see in a fantasy adventure anime. So I'm going in completely blind here.

But still, this looks beautiful. I can't wait to see the character interactions from here on out.

I remember watching this on Adult swim and never getting past episode 3

A very special episode dedicated to :Burton.

Anyway, this Shadow lady is definitely having some kind of meltdown, while the Russians work out their own love story. I don't know WHY Mira is still living with Goh and Anna, let alone Goh's brother. Has to be awkward as hell for them. For ALL of them.

So shit is really starting to get rolling now.

I wish that in retrospect the pacing of the show was better in terms of establishing the church, their role in the plot, and their intentions. It can get hard to follow. What I do know is that they're a seedy organization, and it seems Suzano is a contracted assassin for them that they've sent to kill Satan because Emilia was meandering too much and they were skeptical of where her loyalties lay.

That was a pretty intense scene between Chiho and Suzano there.
Dynamic here is past vs. present. Suzano decides to kill Maou because, well, he's the demon lord and commander of demon armies that have killed thousands of people and destroyed homes and land in Ente Isla. This is the Satan that Suzano is largely familiar with. Chiho, on the other hand, is only familiar with the Maou that is her co-worker at MgRonald's, and who she has a crush on and who is very nice to her. It's not that hard to see how she feels; she just doesn't seem to understand that the person she knows would do all those horrible things, largely because he doesn't seem to be that person anymore. So the question is, has he changed, or is all of this part of some plan of his? Well, Emi seems to believe he has changed, and she's going to find a solution that pleases everybody, because she's the hero. What a stand-up girl.

So I've been led to believe that these shows all tend to end up with a girl "winning", or ending up being the love interest of the protagonist. This kinda sucks for me, because I really don't want to see that with any of the girls. Having either Emi or Suzano become romantically involved with Maou would basically go directly against the characters that have been established; neither really have any such interest in Maou whatsoever. Having either of them be the winner would force the show to just completely shift gears in the last two episodes to make it happen. Or a second season would be needed, but since that would mean completely changing the dynamics between the characters, I'm not sure I would be interested. Chiho seems like the obvious choice, but then I'd have to put up with endless spam of "OMG BEST GIRL WON!', when she was really the only one playing the fucking game to begin with and assuming that ending up romantically involved with a reformed demon lord/part-time fast food worker qualifies as "winning". I'd really rather not deal with that.

That's why I support an Alciel x Satan ending. Fuck it. Alciel is incredibly loyal and gracious to Maou, and he's had such a tough break of things. And he's the best character in the show. I say let him have his day. He's earned it.

Re: that Japanese censorship thing:
Members of the Diet have confirmed that certain members of the Liberal Democratic Party and the New Komeito Party absolutely refuse to exclude clauses that target anime and manga from the current plans to revise the Japanese Child Pornography Law. Furthermore, the bill being considered currently will not address the issue of junior idols. The issues regarding the commercial exploitation of real children through “junior idol” type publicaitons [sic] will be completely untouched, while manga and anime will be singled out as a possible direct cause behind violations of the human right of real children.

Sword Art Online 9

BOOOOOSSSSSSS FIIIIIIIIGHT.

Or not. Are you kidding me? Kirito and Asuna DON'T fight this boss? Fuck you and your million people having to kill a boss together. I WANTED TO SEE SOME ACTION. Why does nobody ever fight anything in this show?

WHY IS THIS A SHOW ABOUT SWORDS WHEN NO ONE EVER FIGHTS?

Hey, so, if they've been in here 2 years, who is taking care of their bodies in the real world? Because no way would the funds from that hand waving group that IS NOT MENTIONED IN THE ANIME AT ALL, last two years. No, seriously, I don't give a fuck what the books say, the show has not bothered to explain how they're still alive 2 years later.

KLEIN'S IN THIS EPISODE??! AAAAAAAW YEAAAAAH.

Uh, what the hell is with that expression, Kirito? Klein is like, super cool and super nice and super excited to see you and you look like your cheek pinching aunt just showed up. Screw you, Kirito. Asuna should get with THE KLEIN.

Klein's 24? Dayum. This is a guy my age hitting on a girl who looks like she's not even in High School yet. Then again, I guess there probably aren't many girls in SAO anyway. Can you have sex with the NPCs, then? Also, there goes Klein, feeling pain when you're not supposed to again.

Okay, Kirito felt Klein stomp his foot. You can definitely feel pain in SAO.

Question: Originally SAO allowed men to play as women, but presumably this game also simulates sex. So uh, how would THAT work?

Klein is such a nice guy. "Hey, my friend is a total douchebag moron, please keep an eye on him." Seriously: "My friend just charges into the boss room, and even though I could die, I'll go bail him out." Klein is like, the most likeable dude in this show. He's as stupid as the rest of the cast, but at least his motivations are clear: My friends are in danger so I'll help them.

Meanwhile I still can't get my head around the Lonely Beater being so upset that his party died because "he didn't tell them his level." I get survivor's guilt and all, but not that stupid telling them his level thing. I don't see how that cocky bunch of idiots were going to be dissuaded knowing they had a high level dude on their team.

OH SNAP HE'S A DUAL BEATER WIELDER!!!

You know what would make this show more cool? If Kirito actually was cheating. If he had hacked the game to grant him magic. Instead its just Kirito being so damn good at a this game that he can kill a boss that just wiped out a high level party.

Oh great, so Kirito isn't actively cheating and isn't good at SAO, it just dropped its pants and bent over for him by magically giving him this skill, no questions asked. True writing.

Or fuck you and your offer. Asuna isn't property and if she doesn't want to be in your guild she can just leave. The hell is this? You don't OWN her. So much for Asuna being a strong female character if she's fine with this. Fuck, why can't ASUNA duel for her freedom? Not that anyone should have to fight for their freedom.

Lina Inverse would never put up with this. Well, she might to indulge in her fantasy of being a fair maiden, but it wouldn't last.

Completely will sound like a video game dub now.

Among other things. Technical triumph, great art, lots of hype. Let down once I started getting into it past the opening, which is otherwise detached from the main narrative. Every encounter so far has been:

  1. enter area
  2. see conveniently placed cover
  3. kill random mooks around cover

Disappointingly lazy design. It's not so much the act of killing that disappoints me as much as the obvious artificiality of setting up these encounters.

You act like Uncharted and its clones ever had non-lazy design in the first place.

It's all empty, meaningless spectacle meant to jerk off self-important film buffsgame critics and 20-year-olds

Just you wait.

You're scaring me.

Let's not get too carried away.

Well at least then there'd be a reason for the public to scorn him, rather than him being someone who played the beta version of the game 2 years ago. He didn't even reach floor 10 in the beta, and they're at floor 68 now. Playing the beta stopped being relevant goodness knows how long ago, and this beater thing just feels so dragged out.

Slayers TRY 2

So uh, Lina's older sister is the most powerful force in the world confirmed? I mean, Lina's killed at least two dark lords plus the Demon Beast Jennifer at this point, and just said she'd sooner face them all a hundred times, before she faced her sister armed with a bamboo stick. Plus the servants of the Fire Dragon King, who have spent the last 1000 years on the other side of the barrier, came to find Lina's sister FIRST. Even though by rights Lina should be the one who is notable, having slain Phibrizzo, made something of a pact with the Golden Lord and also beating/killing Shabranigdo.

So Lina's sister is basically mad haxx, I guess? That or there's some Ed, Edd n Eddy going on here.

The Citizen Kane of Video Game reviews.

The Last of Us never disappoints. It impresses in virtually every way through unrivaled presentation. It’s a thrilling, emotionally pounding, even intellectually nourishing experience. Could it be gaming’s Citizen Kane?

From the start of the game, the slow-burning pace infuses every encounter with immense emotional weight. You will laugh, shake, cry, all while realizing the transition between them is conducted with pitch perfect subtlety. This game respects you as an adult. Starting a review with such hyperbole is usually prime fodder for an instant backlash, but to describe this as anything else would be such a disservice.

Oh boy here we go again. The last couple minutes of 18 were both supersaturated in the sad and happy departments. My heart is still on crutches right now.

Clannad: After Story 19

Ushio is just like her mother ;_;

Good to see Akio and Tomoya are back to being the best of bros.

Oh yeah guess who's back?
Well if it isn't Fuko! What's it been, like 21 episodes and like 7 in-story years? Yikes. Well at least she hasn't changed.

That happy/sad mixture is still running strong, fuck.

Sounds more like blatant corruption than stupidity.

Idk, like, are they getting paid off by the Junior Idol people in this case or something? It's just stupidity to me.

Cardcaptor Sakura 11

Aaaaawwwwwwwww.

This episode was the sweetest thing I've seen in a while. Clow Cards are secondary in this episode. This was more about Sakura furthering her relationship with Tomoyo's mom. Glad that she doesn't hold any grudges against Sakura for being her father's daughter. Rather, she loves her for being her mother's daughter. She tells her all sorts of stories about Nadeshiko, including accidentally telling her how her and her father met (come on dude, "I thought an angel had fallen out of the sky"? That's one of the students at your school, you know). But that was the only part where it got weird. Otherwise, Tomoyo's mom shows just how much she loved and cared for Nadeshiko, and just how much she misses her.

Then Sakura captured Shield and opened a special box. Inside are a bouquet from her mother's wedding that Tomoyo's mom kept. Then she got all nostalgic about cherry blossoms and Nadeshiko again. Oh, but also in there was an eraser that Tomoyo put in, because it was the first thing Sakura had ever given her, and it's special cause they're best friends now.

So yeah, I loved this episode and I love this show.

Catching up on a few shows right now, its really bizarre how they have played these"its not incest, but it basically is" feelings during the season. Just pick a side already.

Futari wa Precure Max Heart The Movie (1)

Oh, you did not just crop the OP and all the stock footage into the widescreen format. That's just lazy and awkward.

So uh, this was a thing. Apparently Toei got bored of trying to sell little girls plastic merchandise, and decided to try selling them priceless jewellery instead for a change. So the Cures go off to a new world where heroes are frogs, Fuji-P is a prince, and EVERYTHING IS DIAMONDS.

Also there's some evil witch or something who's actually a demon and all her Zakenna minions are bats (except her flying ship which is inexplicably a shark that shoots lasers) and she's trying to revive the Evil King because seriously, is anybody NOT trying to revive that guy?

Did I mention the hero frogs fight by wildly punching with Gear Third-style giant fists? It's actually kind of hilarious. Also one of them is a too-cool-for-school rebel who doesn't want no help from no Precure (but of course by the end of the movie he's crying and begging them not to go home).

Oh and in the climactic battle the power of BELIEF IN THE POWER OF DIAMONDS gives the Cures SUPER PALETTESWAP POWERS and they are able to FLY. Come to think of it, I think there were more scenes of the Cures doing actual damage to enemies using physical attacks in this movie than in all of the first series and Max Heart combined. I guess movie means action or something. Obviously they finished off the witch-demon with the standard EXTREME LUMINARIO though.

So yeah, that was fun I guess.

I will be so, so angry if this law gets passed in any form. Ugh. Just thinking about it makes me want to go and do inhumane things to the politicians involved.

We don't know the sex part wasn't in the beta i'm pretty sure.
We do know that prolonged playing in another sex body would lead to a lot of problems.

So i guess the one who programmed it is the only one who knows ?

You're scaring me.

Well where you are right now the concept of beater is gone And the only thing kirito gets is envy and jealousy at best.

Pretty much.
One could argue that the fear lina has of her sister was installed since young age , it's undeniable that her sister got some very very high serious skills.
