Yeah, a big reason why I find it so hard to root against the Lannisters is because that entire stable of characters is so well acted. Tywin, Tyrion, Jaime, Cersei, Joffrey, and even auxiliary/unofficial 'Lannisters' like Varys, Baelish, and Pycelle are all spectacularly portrayed. It's actually kind of absurd.

Funny how for the same reason, I really can't root for them. I actually felt annoyed by most Lannisters this season (guess it was building up) due to how well they portray their characters and how solid's their display of fucking arrogance, and lack of respect. Tyrion and Jamie (for now) get a pass.

I honestly want for them to take a slight cliché/typical route on season 4 and let somebody dismember Joffrey limb by limb while still alive. ;)

Amazing show.

I just finished the second book and now understand why the Theon parts have played out in the show the way they have. This is great reading, and I fully recommend GoT lovers to read the books after the material covered has been aired.

I bought the first 4 books for cheap on Amazon and am working through the first one. It's getting harder though as I near Ned's demise.

Yeah, I've just started the first book. I am absolutely loving the extra details and insight into the story and characters that I already know and love. I can't put it down.

I do like reading through the books after watching TV series's or movies. I feel like it captures me more because I can visualize the scenes a lot better. I see the characters and the buildings and the scenery because I've seen it on the show. I did the same with Harry Potter and it made the first book very enjoyable.

Agreed. I do the same thing.

I know we aren't supposed to be talking about the books in this thread, but I'll just say that GRRM can be very long-winded when it comes to non-important characters and their genealogy, so having watched the TV Show, while reading previous books, you can skim past sections that are about people that you know you will never hear from again and you dont need to know every war and battle they have ever fought in.

I am actually struggling to remember a memorable scene with Tyrion this season that didn't involve Tywin.

If Dinklage get's the Emmy this year he owes Charles Dance a beer or two.

Edit: Oh yeah a some of his scenes at his wedding were pretty great.

Your right. Charles has a ton more memorable scenes this season than Dinklage, I would say this is Dinklage's weakest performance in a season ever.

Okay so I'm pretty sure I was spoiled something big by some asshole making a random comment on a Parks and Rec youtube video. Can someone who has read the books tell me if it's correct? I'l pm you.

Dinklage killed it at the wedding scenes. He deserves the nom and win.

Ha! The Greyjoy legacy is that they served as glorified sword fodder for the Westeros all-star team of warriors. Ned, Robert, Barristan. Thoros, Jaime, Jorah, Stannis, Davos, The Mountan, The Hound etc...These men boosted their reputations with Ironborn corpses.

Hopefully the books go into Balon's failed rebellion and the siege of Pyke in depth, can't get enough of characters sharing old war stories in the show.

I can't wait for another awesome season with great tits and action.

Apart from the wedding though in all his best scenes he was playing 2nd fiddle to someone else; either Tywin, Varys or Olenna Tyrell.

Conleth Hill, Charles Dance & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau deserve Noms way more this season.

I've finished reading all 5 books now so I'm happy to be a silent Crow who protects the secrets of the future from all men.
