I don't think cboat hates MS, but he does leak information that could hurt them. As someone who is attached to his own company (a much smaller one, though), I find it slightly disturbing. Or maybe that's not the word, but I don't think it's a healthy situation.
Someone like Albert Penello, for example, was quite clear that he won't make things harder to his colleagues (of course he's probably higher ranked, and is not hiding his identity like cboat). It makes for less juicy information, but at least you don't get that "stabbed in the back" feeling.

It's not like the Xbox Dev posts on reddit inspire any confidence anyways. Most of the wording is purposely ambiguous. For three of the truthfacts (3, 4, and 5) he basically says "i dont know". Furthermore, he doesn't even deny that a Kinect-less SKU is coming next year, which I consider to be the biggest news of the entire post.

People who work on something are usually emotionally invested in the product that they're working on. If I was a developer on a game, I wouldn't want to share things about the game that would make less people buy it, for example. Just because there's a developer on Reddit, it doesn't mean that he will tell you every bad thing about the system. I wouldn't, if I was him, would you?
We're lucky to have us the cboat, who gives us both the good (exclusives, etc) and the bad.
Srsly though. I don't think any Xbox fan could admit that this console launch has been anywhere near smooth. Every single rumour that people refused to believe has so far been proven true. It's a giant clusterfuck.
Hell, if we wanna theorycraft, I'll restate my theory that the gpu upclock was done to specifically counteract whatever overall performance decrease was incurred by the latest SDK. It would make sense as something that's n ot intended to see light of day in retail Xbones.

Actually I've maintained for a while that what Cerny says should be considered PR and hence taken with a grain of salt, no matter how sincere or genuine you think he is.

I think that it is very important to understand things BEFORE criticizing them.
Microsoft did NOT "upped the specs".
The console remained untouched.
They simply optimized it, rising the clock speed.
And again, if they were able to do so "free of charge", why do not do this?

Its been downhill from the start, and they have been struggling since.
And the devs that develop the xbox one games seem to do a better job at PR for the one and repairing MS and their BS.
The games look pretty solid, its the console that worries me.

umm yes they did "up the specs" the clock speed of a GPU is part of its SPECIFICATIONS...specs is short for...SPECIFICATIONS...
800mhz--->853mhz would be UPPING its specs...
they didn't "optimize" shit...they upped the clock speed through software...just like overclocking your PC or smartphone...
still see youre ignoring the rest of my post...we both know why...
see im not even talking about hyping things like the cloud...or PR speak painting a rosie picture...im talking more about how when questioned about things like DRM, or Kinect there lines were "cant remove it" "system was designed that way" "wont work without it" "cant just flip a switch"

As far as I was aware they said, "We upped it from 800 - 853~!" on a podcast before ever announcing it was 800mhz in the first place though.
Perhaps I missed something.
No problem. I think he mentioned it because there were some rumors about Rare working on something besides Kinect. Pretty sure that was right around E3 time.
GPU clock is a part of system specs. Specs are specs. His complaint is straightforward, if nitpicky.

I didn't mean his responses to truthfact 3, 4, and 5 were ambiguous. It was an unrelated thought but I can see how you thought that's what I meant. I particularly find his responses to 1 and 2 to be unclear, and open to more than one interpretation.
Also, forgive me if I was unclear, I was saying that CBoaT's news of a Kinect-less SKU was big news, in my opinion it was the biggest news out of his entire post. Given the XBOX dev did not deny this rumor, nor outright deny any of the other rumors, I feel this only gives credence to CBoaT's claims.

That user's complaint is not "nitpicky". It is just fabricated around something which is so "low" even to be considered a proper complaint.
Even if you, as a producer, as not aiming for the highest specs possible you would be a perfect IDIOT not to optimize the hardware you actually put in YOUR console.
It's more like:
"Hey Bob, so we can raise the clock speed by 4%"
"Stop it! Someone on NeoGaf could be offended by this!"
