Now the question is, how the hell do you pronounce payday?

btw, lol @ that video
Oh I am laughing my ass off at this unexpected nostalgy-enducing goofy fake ad
"Payday" is prounounced like pédé except each of the two vowels have a nasal closed end like "péiidéii". Still sounds similar.

Whenever Nintendo does good with some titles worldwide, you see huge discrepencies in the taste of the gamers depending on the local market. That might be a reason why some publisheres hesitate in bringing some games to Europe. They understand the appeal varies greatly from one region to another.

The top three are all new entries this week with ‘Saints Row IV’ landing at No1, followed by ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist’ at No2 and ‘Disney Infinity’ at No3. ‘Saints Row IV’ is the 4th biggest launch of the year so far (behind Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us). It fails to outperform the debut of predecessor ‘Saints Row: The Third’, but is still the second best launch for the controversial series. Taken over from THQ by Deep Silver/Koch, it is the ambitious publisher’s third different title to reach No1 in the All Formats chart this year (the others being Dead Island Riptide and Metro Last Light). This is a feat only matched by EA. Sales were split 69% on Xbox 360 and 31% on PS3. The highly anticipated ‘Disney Infinity’ opens strongly, selling 3.6 times more starter pack units at launch than the original Skylanders. It performed best on Xbox 360 with a 43% share, then PS3 at 22%, Wii 21%, Wii U 10% and 3DS 4%. Last week’s No1, ‘Payday 2’ (-76%) tumbles to No18 while the rest of the Top 10 mostly shuffles amongst themselves. ‘Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition’ (+3%), ‘Black Ops II’ (-17%), ‘FIFA 13’ (-14%) and ‘Animal Crossing: New Leaf’ (-9%) all drop two places to No’s 4, 5, 6 and 7 respectively. ‘Lego Batman 2’ (+1%) is a non-mover at No8 ahead of ‘The Last of Us’ (-9%) at No9. 2K Games/Take 2 enter the chart at No10 with ‘The Bureau: Xcom Declassified’ and there is also a new face at No22; the Wii U exclusive ‘The Wonderful 101’.

Will be interesting watching Disney Infinity's performance over the months. I bought it myself, think it's pretty good and really fun, but somehow I have the feeling that it won't get to Skylanders' levels of success, even though it should've been an easy moneymaker. Haven't seen much promotion for it yet, but it'll probably have great legs with commercials over the holidays.

W101 is a new IP niche game, it's not a game that can twist the fate of a suffering console, but more a game that suffers from the struggle of the console. it charted, didn't bomb considering what it is, it did better than other Wii U/Vita games, that didn't charted at all or charted lower.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Given this is the All Formats Charts, it could be higher in the Individual one, even much higher. I must be honest: I thought it would have had a worse debut, actually.

I see GTA:IV at 17. Dat anticipation.

Retailers must be counting down the days until it arrives. GTAV is going to give the charts the shot in the arm it's been waiting for.

Good for saints row, not matching sr3 was expected so i'd say its still a good result :)

Bombas everywhere else. W101 was always going to be a bomba, but ubi and Disney must be pretty nervous right now.

I can see splinter cell going on hiatus like PoP.

Whoa @ Payday 2 drop, that is huuuuuuge

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't payday 1 digital only? I bet the bulk of sales for this will be digital.

I don't see how splinter cell could be considered a bomba if that is what you are saying? It was never one of ubisofts premier selling franchises. Well known yes, but it has never sold on the level they wanted.

Yeah but budget and expectations for the series went up with conviction, and after the disappointing sales of that I'm shocked they cranked out what is essentially conviction 2.

Sorry, it bombed.

Yeap, I don't know what people were expecting. I was wondering if it will chart at all in the All Format Charts. Pikmin 3 at list was a known franchise. This is a new IP and quite experimental. And the controversial reviews didn't help.

It's probably lower on the individual one, actually.

That doesn't make any sense.

So far I have seen 0 advertising for it. Nintendo going all out!

I'm sure I saw a couple of adverts on terrestrial TV for this game.

I'm not surprised it bombed though. It looks a complicated frenetic game and the characters don't have a lot of charm or are appealing. It does't look very accessible.

Platinum games have never been big sellers. Put one on a struggling system like the Wii U and this is the natural result of that. Maybe it could've done better if Nintendo pushed it more, but things were always likely to end up this way.

It's unfortunate, but it's the reality of the situation.

THQ’s ‘Saints Row: The Third’. Week 1 sales for the 360/PS3 versions are an impressive 43% higher than previous best, ‘Saints Row 2’ from back in week 42, 2008
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=452743&highlight=pal+charts+week+40+2011

[ALL] Saints Row 2 (THQ) - ~72,000
[ALL] Saints Row: The Third (THQ) - ~103,000 (SR2 x 1.43)
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=32850026#post32850026

So SR4 did less that 103,000 units.
