Next handheld confirmed to be a tablet, they are just making way for it, I know. It would be great to get a dual booting tablet (android+nintendo OS) with controls from Nintendo.

It is kind of nice. I already have a 3DSXL, well my kid has one and I steal it often so I am already set. Might get one for my girl, it is very cheap, this will sell tons on Christmas.

I had the WTF reaction just like everyone else, but just looking at it closer I'm starting to see a lot of pros:

Removing the hinge alone results in:

• Less separation between screens
• Potentially bigger area for battery
• Better ergonomics for the controls

This seems like it would be great for those who are interested in playing 3DS games but don't care for a super portable system. The reduced price sweetens the deal.

Curious to the ergonomics b/c the OG 3DS is and even the XL are borderline unplayable for me b/c they're so uncomfortable.

Me too, my XL gets no play due to its ergonomic shortcomings. This could actually be better.

That's....bizarre.

I suspect it's simply because internally it's pretty much the same as a 3DS with the depth slider forced to 0, and so for full compatability it needs *all* inputs to still exist.
