Hey, how come Sony didn't invest in any big 3rd party exclusives?

I had some second thoughts about doing this, but what the hell? I don't think it will matter if it's like this. Sony has exclusive games coming from the following:

- Sega
- Capcom
- Level-5
- Namco Bandai
- Lockstarter (lol)
- Lazyeye (lol)
- Warner Bros.
- Koei

Some others too but will not say those just yet. This isn't including partnerships which wouldn't really be third party. It's okay though guys, Sony doesn't have any money. Poor people for a reason. Lockstarter? Who has even heard of them? Exactly.

Having said that, the larger focus is on improving their first party teams and taking things from there.

Someone in the list who shouldn't be. Removed for now...

How much did Sony throw to Activision for the exclusive Destiny content?

Too much most likely. Is someone going to ever base a console decision on exclusive or timed exclusive DLC? Is there going to be a significant number of multiconsole owners who will prefer to buy it on the weaker hardware?

The answer to both of those is "maybe, but not nearly enough to make the payout to Activision worth it".

Now just paying enough to make sure only your console is mentioned like what happens a lot, that could be somewhat beneficial I suppose.

Well, this is encouraging. I want my japanese games overload back this gen.
I hope they're not all "western" games.

What about big western? Pretty please
IIRC he said that they have a huge western exclusive which will cause meltdowns.

IDK, But I've said this before said this before. Sony was really smart to associate the PS4 with Bungie & "Destiny".

Yep Bungie was worth it, Even if just to send a message, This isn't Bungies next xbox game with a cheap PS4 port, this is the real deal. It's a big distinction to a lot of casuals, even sub consciously.

SEGA on that list and Yakuza is too obvious of an answer. I'm banking on Shenmue 3 and a Shenmue HD collection :D

Square-Enix too. They're bringing FF XIV to PS3 but not Xbox because of Microsoft's insistence in that "no crossplay allowed" policy. Same reason it's not getting War Thunder from Gaijin entertainment.

So it's not just throwing money at companies to get exclusives. Policies, relationships, etc also play a role.

An exclusive from WB is pretty interesting. All the other ones aren't too surprising. Deep Down from Capcom, Tales of whatever from Namco, Yakuza from Sega, etc.

Their first-party portfolio is so big that they don't really need to. And it's not as if they were losing that many games. There are exclusives for the Xbox, yes, but by and large, it's a pretty small number that doesn't amount to a lot in the grand scheme of things.

Why you gotta get my hopes up?

No good games nowadays with forklifts

Sad state of affairs really

He's already stated sega exclusive is not Yakuza or Sonic

And where is Sony lacking in those departments outside of the handheld space?

Well, I'd assume Nintendo were largest in terms of number of studios and number of internally developed games put out. I'd guess they're also on top in terms of sales (except for right now of course).

As for metacritic rankings (as silly as such a thing is, but since you suggested it), Microsoft Studios were ranked higher (as a publisher) than Sony in 2012. In 2011 both MS and Nintendo came out on top of Sony.

link

But EA is on top of that list so it's pretty worthless :p

Any way you look at it, there is no objective ground for the claim that Sony has an unmatched line up of first party studios.

There are two in there. Decode them. Quite straight forward for the most part. Hell, one of them even hints at the game in a way which wasn't intended but clearly I am a genius.

Your list includes publishers that will make full fledged games for the PS4 no? Not some bullshit like Adam West Skin for Batman from WB right?

Well, I read "Warner Bros" as "Batman".

There's no way they would make a established franchise like batman exclusive, maybe the next game from mortal kombat devs.

I remember someone hinting at a exclusive fighting game for Sony to go against Killer Instinct.

By 0.7 lol and they include published titles so not first party only. Also Nintendo are below Sony.

Ahhh I am tired of this. If Sony has so many games and exclusives, why are they so reserved?? I am anxious to know both first and third party exclusives that are coming to the console.

Why would you need to go out and spend money on a prostitute when you have a much more beautiful wife at home?
Because the prostitute will do things that your wife won't?
There is no Titanfall equivalent for PS4 for example, Killzone isn't the same.

A Rockstar made Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels game?

It's a really smart business decision, they are going to be the winners of every gaming event after E3, they have more games to show off than Microsoft and if things start looking bad they can always announce their games at any time.

I don't think they're "unmatched" at all, but out of all 3 companies, I feel like they're the only ones to support this generation of consoles until the very end with their strongest first party studios. All 3 companies have good first party studios, but I do feel like Nintendo absolutely needs theirs because they have very little third party support, and Microsoft just hasn't pumped out enough titles for core gamers lately. Too much devotion to Kinect titles for the past few years as well as moving titles to the next platform.

When I see Ryse moved to XBO as a third person controller-based brawler from originally a first person kinect 360 title, when I see Forza releasing around the same time as GT6 but Forza was moved to XBO and has chopped features out to make release. Dead Rising 3 was supposed to release this year on 360 and got moved to XBO because it needed more power.

I just see this mad scramble to move games from where they originally were going to release to next gen to attempt to prop up a new system's launch.

Maybe Microsoft's abandonment of the 360 wouldn't be true if those titles had been released this year on 360. Forza would have been facing off with GT6, DR3 would have been facing off with TLoU (lol), and Ryse would have possibly made people a believer in Kinect. But then they would have had nothing for XBO.

lmao, this is amazing response.

I think we all know deep down that Titanfall will eventually end up on PS4 though.

WB is indeed interesting. We haven't heard anything from Rocksteady in a while, could it be from them? Who knows but WB has become a huge player in the industry with lots of talented studios. It can only be something huge.

She would have not been the wife if she did not do what i want .
Sony can try to get there devs to make something like it then again i don't think Titanfall going to be as big as some people think .

Look, let's just get it out of the way now. Titanfall looks great. Titanfall looks like it will be a system seller for the year that it is exclusive to Microsoft-based products. But that's only one of many titles that Microsoft paid for. It's a gamble that's going to pay off big time, but how many other gambles have they paid for that didn't turn out this way?

And it's an "all or nothing" proposition because once you pay the money and the game comes out, that's it, there is no studio left behind starting work on your next franchise.

That prostitute will whore herself out to other customers the following night. Titanfall is coming to ps4.

And it's also coming to 360 and PC, so that prostitute will also screw your dad and uncle behind your back, too.

New batman maybe, New fighting game from Injustice/Mortal Kombat devs maybe, they are publishing Witcher 3 so maybe the Witcher spin off game might be exclusive?

No, but that was what the poster I originally responded to was claiming.

Anyway, they're all pretty decent in my book, I'd personally rate both Ninty and Sony over MS for first party stuff, even though Halo and Forza are pretty good.

I think that was Bloody Roar so not Warner Bros
