So how is the mission structure handled? Can you actually miss missions because you are messing around on another character? Do you lose access to a character for a while due to story reasons? For example say one says they have to do something but then you only have access to the other two until the third is finished doing something that simply isn't possible by playing the game. Do you miss parts of mission or the lead up to them by playing one character instead of another? Or will you see all of the lead up regardless?

Nothing that in depth, no. Imagine having access to GTAIV, Lost and Damned, and Gay Tony all at once. You're basically just filling out each character's missions until you get to a heist, and when you're planning a heist you can complete each lead-up task with any of the characters most of the time.

The Red Dead Redemption-style strangers & freaks missions are all character specific, too.

That's some bullshit right there. I always install all my games fully. The disk drive is way too loud. I hope they patch this or something. I wonder if this is what is causing the crashes I've heard about.

It isn't bullshit, and it isn't something that can 'get patched'.

The whole reason for them using a harddrive install is so that they can effectively double the data rate by utilizing both the hard drive and optical drive at the same time. They can stream things in faster this way, and make a much more seamless world.

Installing your play disk to the HDD as well means your HDD will be constantly seeking between the two data chunks, slowing things down. Hence why they don't recommend it.

The same is true of any game that has both an install disk and a play disk.

Sorry, there's nothing that can be done about it.

I don't know if there are missable missions, random ones sure (blue dots, you'll know when your minimap flashes for a second) since you can just drive by and ignore it; you can also attempt to do it and fuck it up by pulling out your gun prematurely.

Yes, you lose access to one or two characters due to story. And yeah, you eventually do run out of missions for a particular character, and "force" you to switch just to progress the story.

It'll give you information about it; when you're swapping between characters on the HUD, there's a little number below each portrait that tells you how many missions they have available. Or you can just bring up the main map and see if there are any colored icons associated with that particular character.

Thanks. That doesn't sound to bad. Was concerned you could miss out on something by focusing to much on one character.

I'm really like this game so far, it looks like such a major improvement over gta iv. I've been watching these live streams for the past couple of days and keeps building my hype for the game more and more.

Holy shit!

Random event spoiler from reddit:

Got the game on saturday and have been stopping for the favours that randomly pop up on the map whenever I can. A car was stopped on a back road and I decided I'd go see what was up. I get out of the car and instantly get tazered by this fat, mustard-stained hillbilly who proceeds to tell me he's going to "get real close to me". The screen blackens and I wake up naked on the train tracks with a freight hurtling towards me. After Trevor wakes up he says "Oh, not this again." Crying with laughter, I came to the conclusion that this game is a beautiful work of art.

Picking up ps3 version later, but I have both discs installed on 360. Sometimes I do run into problems where vehicles disappear after I do a 360 with the camera.

But the biggest problem I had was when I was supposed to c4 a few designated trailers during a storm. The trailers would not load properly, so I'm out in "open" space bumping into invisible objects.

I'd keep the 360 version but I don't have live anymore, nor will I sub again just for this game. Doesn't help that my brother really enjoys the game too and wants to play online, so 2 sub scripts for this, fuck that. PSN it is.

Anyone experiment with the car/customization/garage/impound system yet?

Can I fully trick out a car, insure it, and basically be guaranteed access to that car forever?

Games Radar had an interesting bit in their review about buying stocks. Certain side assassination missions will have you targeting the heads of different corporations. If you plan properly and buy stock into their competitor before the job, then you stand to make a killing afterwards. Nice touch.
