Völgarr the Viking.

Do want!

How long are we talking here?

it's ALL the feets! (just 15, really, but still)

Steam needs better built-in filters. amongst many other categories, it ought to have a list for Big Picture and controller supported games. I can't tell if they are without visiting their Store Pages :/

Here's my recommendation: Throw that cable away and get a DVI->HDMI cable instead.

I have exhausted all the HDMIs on my TV, unfortunately. Fingers crossed I won't run into aspect ratio problems, etc :|

Get a hdmi switcher. Long analogue are not that great.

Just catching up to the Steam Machines stuff. I think Valve should have their own box, Valve and Steam branded, a singular familiar touchstone to the general consumer. Especially before the PC oems start making their hundred-option, long-string named boxes (ASUS ST521345-SVAX, etc).

EDIT: They do have one. nvm

Rock Paper Shotgun loves Shadow Warrior

Completely against my expectations, I can’t think of a first-person shooter I’ve enjoyed more this year. Owing as much of a debt to Serious Sam as to the game that it takes its name from, Shadow Warrior rarely pauses for breath. In fact, it rarely changes pace at all. Wang’s movement seemed erratic to me at first, too fast and slippery, but I soon realised that I had it all wrong. Other games are too slow. When there are this many demons to kill and so many ways to kill them, it’s better to move fast and to carry a big sword. Job done.

What good shooters were released this year? Metro? Only one I can think of. Kind of a light year for shooters going forward.

Or Bioshock: Infinite.

lol no, Bioshock Infinite was not a good shooter. It had a great ending which was able to catapult it from mediocrity.

Was ROTT not any good?

Apparently it was very buggy on release. I haven't heard too much about it though.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger (according to others, haven't played it yet)

I haven't played either of these but I do want to, thanks for the reminder.

I probably won't be picking up Blood Dragon or Far Cry 3 until they are very, very cheap. Forced Uplay integration always gives me pause.

A game heavily based on nostalgia is a bad game, just look at Duck Tales shudders

What?

Correlation never equals Causation, especially with the point you are trying to make.

Call of Juarez Gunslinger proves that making oldschool shooters in the vein of Serious Sam and Painkiller is an idiotic pursuit. It is shooting distilled into it's essence and it feels like it was crafted by gods.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
Shadow Warrior owes a debt to Serious Sam? No wonder Serious Sam is creatively bankrupt.
