Because when latency and servers come into play, things will probably go haywire more frequently.

Everything generally gets downgraded to compensate for multiple players.

You cant directly change the look of your character. You have to pick what their ancestors looked like, to determine their looks.
Weirder still, John Marston (from RDR) is a possible ancestor. lol
I just cycled through random females, until I found one that didnt look like a half-orc, and fine-tuned what I could.

People having trouble with online? I just finished playing, it ran like a dream. Little to no lag, I'm actually amazed how well it ran. Played some fun group missions with the guys I was matched up with online. There was lots of pop-in in the introduction cut scene, but once I got into the game it looked the exact same as single player. Only difference is there are way less peds and cars, and the car streaming is definitely shittier (for processing reasons no doubt). I find the online character to be faster and sharper. I think the changes to cars and peds mentioned above actually improved the framerate over the singleplayer. Can't wait to play with friends later today!

Man the customization is so much better than single player.

Customize what helmets you have, put masks on any time, loads more of options in regards to clothing.

Just robbed my first shop, stole drugs and did a street race. Haven't had any other players join though.

Hundreds of thousands of impatient nerds just jumped on it within seconds of it being online. I don't see any way it could not be a clusterfuck. Just wait till 6-7pm, it's going to be carnage.

I had that.

Had to pull the plug on the PS3 - but it worked second time.
