I know this may not be the place but is there any Canadians or Newfoundlanders out there that want to add me on Steam? I have 9 but need 10 friends to get the Steam Hardware Enthusiast/Steam Hardware Beta Candidate badge. Thanks!

Steam ID: daevv

Done and done

Alright, got into Family Sharing beta today. However, I have a good feeling most folks here have all the games that are in my library.

It's so dumb how they have it set up. You have to give your log in info to someone else. This sounded amazing on paper.
I'm starting to think they just slapped a marketing label on functionality that Steam already has when you save your password on a machine.

I'd like to see proposals for a sharing scheme that would still have you buy games.

You don't get achievements, cards or steam cloud savegames when playing a shared game.

Not every game has those features, though.

And for what additional benefits would you want this trade off? Per-game sharing? Non-password based authentication?

I'd still accept those trade offs to not have to buy a game, so that scheme still wouldn't work.

Except you do, not cards.

Share your computer?
Now share your games too.

Steam Family Sharing allows family members and their guests to play one another's games while earning their own Steam achievements and saving their own game progress to the Steam Cloud. It's all enabled by authorizing a shared computer.

Have you used it?
I'm not in yet. It's nicer than de facto family sharing. But only one person can access the library at a time and the account has to be logged onto the machine used for sharing, so password information has to shared or the account holder has to physically log onto the machine. Which are the two biggest issues I was hoping they had a solution to.

What's wrong with you man? Just because you don't like those kind of games, it doesn't mean that their are terrible... please tell me what game it's good for you?

pretty much every 3d hack and slash game i've played of late has been shallow and trite. Gone are the feelings of charm I used to get in the old 2D GBA Castlevania type kind of games.

Then things like Too Human came out which makes me spontaneously vomit out of disgust...

That's how they said it in the beginning. it was always dumb because if your friend is playing Battlefield you can't log on to your account he's playing on to play Saints Row.

So is my GF, should I get her one?
Well, there is philosophical/methodological compatibility, making for warm yet somewhat distanced interest, sympathies, and advocacy, and then there is cultural appreciation, pragmatic involvement, and experiential identification. This would be something for the latter things, and while humans are rather social, so it may likely be received enthusiastically, ultimately some individuals are more casual with their affinities, more given to being identified uniquely as their own, and aren't so much into symbols. I don't know which direction your girlfriend swings with these things.

Kabouter and I just used the beta.

I sent him my password--oh noes, now I need to generate another 50 random character password!!!--he logged in, authorized, logged out, I logged in and changed my password. Very quick process, 45 seconds or so. Now on his computer he has a category called "stumpokapow's games".

When he's playing the game, this happens:

Pretty simple.

However, Darkest of Days is not showing up for him. Therefor, I rate this feature 0/10 because it fails at its main purpose, which is to let people play Darkest of Days.

Thankfully, I just received more parts this month to complement my GTX 770. By the time my build is finished, it will already be 2 weeks out of the Watch_Dogs release.

Can do "Recommended" but not sure on "Ultra".

EDIT: Well crap, there was a thread for it.

Watch_Dogs specs...

Is this the moment where I become too poor to do the pc gaming thing again :(. I might have to compare how this runs on my computer vs a ps4 and make an informed decision to bow out of pc gaming for a few years again. Is anyone looking to hire a shitty .NET programmer? One that knows nothing besides how to program some handheld barcode scanners.

I'm guessing "8 core" actually means "8 threads", so I imagine even those with 2600Ks or its later equivalents will be fine.
