Refurb iPad mini is now $249 on apple store

I may jump on that instead of the new stuff. I just want a cheap good tablet that's not android. The tablet ecosystem for android is so sad.

good points. What are you expecting to get for something like a 32GB ipad 3? going rate in the UK seems to be around £300, so a little less than the ipad 2 16GB (£329)
I got 309 for a cellular unlocked 32gb in flawless condition with a smart case on ebay this weekend, with ebay and paypal fees taken off, im left with around 260-270 i think. I feel robbed.

Just bought MB air yesterday, MBP is too heavy and no flash storage, rMBP is too expensive for me. I dont care for a minor spec bump but I'll kill myself if apple lower the rMBP today.

Why do people buy Apple hardware without doing research? Check out macrumors.com in the future, they will tell you if it is a good time to buy or not.

Come on AppleGAF, I need your advice.

No word on Mac Mini today, does that mean it's not getting updated this year? Or will they just put out a press release when they do it?

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Anyone know if they have the new rMBPs available in store? I tried calling both of my local stores, and they had me on hold for 10+ min each.

I'm just using it for browsing, media and may be one or two games on STEAM. Mostly browsing and media.

You saying upgrading from the i7 2.0GHz to i7 2.3GHz will decrease my battery life?

I'm only looking into it because the price for the boost is $90 which isn't a whole lot.
It's a faster CPU and running it at that faster speed will eat up a bit more battery, but in low load tasks battery life will be identical. Note that the light task shows no difference in battery life despite the 30% clock speed difference. That extra CPU speed could bump performance in CPU bound games (common in quite a lot of smaller, indie games that often run on just one core) so if if you feel the 90$ is worth it go for it.

It's like a 200hp car and a 300hp car with the same rated fuel consumption. Driven normally both use the same amount of fuel, but floor it and the higher hp car will use more.

Hmm UK price for the base mini is a lot better than I expected. It does enrage me though how much they charge for additional memory. 32gb mini and 16gb air are the same price at £399 and 16gb mini is £319. I actually have no idea which one I want out of those 3.

its what they do. they price just so - encouraging you to creep up the different model lines.

I know I use mine for a lot of TV/video along with browsing, so this cements my choice in the larger screen. If the air wasn't such a drop in weight I'd have been more tempted by the mini.

If you need portability or one-handed use, then get the mini. If you want a larger screen, get the air.

If you just need it for streaming/browsing, you might get away with 16GB. If you expect to need quite a few apps (games, magazines), the 32GB is a safer choice.

So next year they're going to start taking mobile productivity seriously with some kind of iPad Pro, right?

I don't see the name change as just a marketing gimmick.

True, I just wanted to see how much is worth it doing for $90. I know it comes down to the individual's decision but usually some choices are hard to avoid like going for the 32GB on the iPad's.

iPad Mini w/Retina Display and iPad Air have the same tech specs? Shit I'll take the Mini over the Air any day of the week.

I sold my iPad 3 in anticipation, now I don't know if I should buy the air 16GB at $499 or mini with retina 32GB for $499. Probably going with mini.

Don't do it. iOS 7 performance on the original Mini is shit. You don't enjoy the experience.

Would someone mind taking a stab at explaining how powerful the new 15" rMBP will be in terms of gaming? I'm thinking of getting the most powerful one and am curious how much weaker it would be than PS4 or Xbox One, for example. Thanks!
