is a game of exploration and puzzle solving where the player takes on the role of our hero, the @ symbol. They travel from level to level solving puzzles by using computer science principles that they have learned. The evil garbage collector sends its minions to try to stop @. All of this takes place in actual code and allows players to experience a drastically different side of games.

Okay here's my list:
The Swapper
Darksiders 2
Foul Play
Closure
Miasmata
Lone Survivor

Now to narrow that down to two or three. The Swapper is definitely one.

Darksiders 2 is pretty good, I'd say get it if you like the first. Lone Survivor is getting a free update that includes all the stuff from the PSN version on the 31st.

I personally really enjoyed Miasmata, as I'm a big fan of explorationy games. It's rough around the edges, though, the whole thing was built from the ground up by two dudes.

I'd recommend The Swapper and Lone Survivor out of these.

How does Darksiders 2 control with KB/M? I don't always have a gamepad handy so that's kind of important. If the controls are bad, I think I might just go with Swapper and Miasmata.

Cloudbuilt!
Luminesca!
Parallax!
Purge!
Ring Runner!
Tower of Guns!
Trash TV!
Risk of Rain!
Cornerstone!

So in light of the recent batch, I only got The Swapper to save money for when some of these Greenlit games become available on Steam

So will Cloudbuilt be getting an Early Access release?

Alright, its that part of the month again. Here. We. Go.

Already? Wow, that was fast. You should do what I do and make the post in Google docs, so you can save it and work on it in intervals.

I save it in my Dropbox folder as a txt file, but yeah, I do work in intervals. It will probably be around 4-5 hours each day until the 1st.

Haha, nice dude :) Best of luck.

10-15 hours to make the thread? Wow, that's crazy. Why so long? I mean, for a lot of the games, you can basically copy and paste from posts in the thread. Some parts are the same in every thread. I never realized it took so long.

Its more like 20 hours once you add the work for the first post into account (list making, creating new texts and pics for the first spots in the voting, etc). And the game posts take that long because people almost never include all the information (especially platforms are the bane of my existence). Other than that, it just takes a huge amount of time to copy/paste that stuff together, yeah.

My standard template is this:

TITLE - PRICE (PLAT)
IMG[IMG]
LINK

TEXT
So its like 8 fields for every game that I need to fill.

Thread Retrospective #2:

Full Bore Part 1 was really fucking awesome.

Hof posted about it in one of the Screenshot Saturday posts, but you guys should check out the trailer to AER if you are bored:

Looking really, really nice.

Anyone having issues with The Swapper? I start it, the loading screen pops up, and then I get the message that "The Swapper has stopped working"
This has happened three times now. I'm currently deleting and re-installing, hoping that fixes the problem

Edit: nope, didn't work. Damn it, the one game I've been wanting...

Oh my word. That is looking delicious. I want it.
Now to find out more about it because it looks like a great wind-down game so i'm hoping it's not too frantic.

You're a star, Toma, a star.

If you find out more or some gifs/dev progress/more vids, let us know please.

On a different note, Rimworld Kickstarter ending in 3 days (and pounded its goal by 900%) and after the KS is over, the pre-alpha will be up and Toma will be playing, all just to distress Badass :p

I think The Swapper doesn't work with Intel HD Graphics.

Ouch, thats a low blow, but someone mentioned in one of the threads that the game is demanding. He stopped asking whether a game would be working fine or your PC or not for some reason a while ago.

I've only had a quick look around but i'm happy to contribute something of use to the thread.

They're called Forgotten Key Games and they're a small four member team of students from BTH (Blekinge institute of Technology) in Karlshamn, Sweden. They've won the GCC (Game Concept Challenge), a local competition, twice. Once with "The Shine of a Star" an adventure game that's available for download. The second time with a "super secret game" :)
They had articles on Kotaku, VG247 & Destructoid in September. I've no idea how i missed it. Especially when my first thought of "Wind Waker Skyward Sword!" was echoed by Kotaku. No problem, i caught it on GAF so all is well.

They're on Facebook - Forgotten Key Games on Facebook

There's a couple of photos and some concept art on the facebook page but nothing as good as the trailer. It has a way to go so i hope they stick at it. I'll be keeping my eye on this one for sure.

So it seems that the dev had updated the game with Intel HD/Intel Integrated support a few months ago
I just released an update that should address at least some of the compatibility issues with Intel HD Graphics chips. Because of the game's overall system requirements the experience on Intel HD hardware currently isn't as satisfying as on a dedicated graphics card...

In the Steam thread, someone said this worked for them:
"I had that problem whenever I started the game in full screen, going into CommonSettins.pro and changing IsFullscreen True to IsFullscreen Flase got it to work."

Where I find these settings? Been dying to play this so I hope something works...

Thanks for posting that info here :)

And yeah, these small games get lost so easily. We'd miss so many of them if it werent for the Screenshot Saturday posts, so kudos again to Hof for continuing to do them.

Damn it, I hope I didn't overlook that....

It says in the specs right in the bottom of page:

:Intel HD Graphics are not officially supported. But if you've got yourself a 3000 or better then there is a reasonable chance it will mostly/sorta work. No promises, but we've been working hard on it, at any rate.

Forgotten Key Games' Robin Hjelte has done a nice interview with ingamer.cz where he explains some of the gameplay and ideas.

Interview - Robin Hjelte when gods go rogue.

This in particular is what i wanted to hear/read/whatever.
„There will be things to do besides flying. You will be able to interact with objects and creatures in the world and you will have obstacles to overcome. About fighting: We want to avoid direct violence as much as we can. This does not mean that there aren’t any threats (the dark robot-like creatures might have something to do with this) in the world. You will be put in danger, and you will have to overcome it in some way. As things are so early in the development, I can’t get much further into that subject yet.“

Sweet.

Check out my above post. And I can't even get to a menu; the game stops working at the loading screen

If Steam is installed through the defaults settings it must be:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Swapper

Then look for the file inside the game folder, open with a text editor and change the needed line.

I don't see any file called CommonSettins.pro
Maybe I'm just overlooking it

But what did I find interesting is that in the Program Files folder, The Swapper is a regular application, like any other non-Steam game.

Can someone who has the game look, please? I'm not sure if I'm looking in the right place, and don't want to go changing settings unless I know it's the right thing

Ooooh, Stasis demo coming with the Kickstarter that is up any day now:

Now for the EXCITING NEWS… There will be a demo of Stasis available when we launch the crowd funding – this means
that you will be playing the first chapter of Stasis, very soon!

I found the file in C:\Users\User\Documents\Facepalm Games\The Swapper 1000. Hope that helps.

SUCCESS!
And it runs smooth with no issues. Finally, I can play this. I was worried I had wasted $5...

Thanks for the help, I would have never found that file otherwise

And if anyone needs to get TWD + 400 Days in light of the Season 2 reveal, I got both for $8 from Amazon.

Hey, you beat me to it! I found the game yesterday, the web trial is pretty fun. I'm finishing up a review for an IOS game, then I'm down to play

It's so cute, I fell in love instantly after I met some Journey like creature thing. I can't beat level 24 alone, so please someone join me:D

Wish I had an iPad, it's probably much better than on PC.

Alright, my October top 10 in no particular order with brief comments (refer to my other posts in this thread for more impressions).

Boson X - Fun time-waster, despite its 'runner'-formula, with a neat look and a pumping soundtrack.

Brawlin' Sailor - Short, but sweet. I enjoyed the hand-drawn animation and the humour especially, making this the 'Icarus Proudbottom' of this month. Rarely do videogames make me laugh, so that's always worth something!

Fuaim - An audiovisual experience I shan't forget soon. Won't take much of your time - try it out and see if it resonates with you.

Hyper Gauntlet - If you told me this was made by the Boson X guy, I'd believe you. Also, don't blink.

MirrorMoonEP - It's.. immersive? Clever? Beautiful? Poetic? Terrifying? I guess I'd be fine with using those attributes. Unique in the very best sense of the word, how 'bout that?

Spud's Quest - This one simply nails the platformer feel of the DOS era. If the screenshots do anything for you, do consider giving this a shot.

SUPERHOT - Brilliant idea, perfect execution - more levels is all this needs. Seriously. Gameplay/Design epiphany for me.

Time Frame - Another great concept that needs to be built upon. In the end, what's there for now is very rudimentary. And still, it's worth witnessing.

Valdis Story - More than solid metroidvania title, offering everything a genre aficionado needs to get hooked instantly. Can't wait to return to this one.

Volgarr The Viking - Not quite a masterpiece of SUPERHOT proportions, this game contents itself with offering flawless platforming goodness, while watching the player squeal in joy/pain.

-----

Honorable mentions:

AscendAon could've been more and maybe one day it will. Has a lot of potential.

The Last Tango did keep me going until I finished it. Solid idea, such a weird music choice, though. (Seriously, what's up with that tune?) Anyway, I was hoping for a highscore contest with this one. Alas!

Going back to Impulse reassured my appreciation for the minimalistic gameplay (and that soundtrack!). Sadly, I'm not up to the challenge of Asteroids x Lunar Lander.

-----

Somehow, I didn't get to play Full Bore, yet. I don't know how this happened. Same goes for Sokobond.
