Any interest in a short interview with a fighting game player each week? Maybe three or four questions to provide some insight into a character or game to promote a bit of discussion?

What's the platform for asking the question? We just ask them on Twitter or do we ask them on their stream/weekly show/site etc?

I mean it would be really easy to ask Viscant questions, I have his email and he is very prompt with answering questions.

That new Thor movie really is a Wesker-tier comic book movie. Meets the minimum requirements for being considered "good", but has nothing spectacular enough to be considered great or interesting.

This actually sounds kinda cool and sorta fits in the AMA idea someone had a while back. I'd be down if we could come up with some sort of standardized list of questions to ask each of them alongside player-specific ones.

We have plenty of notable FGC players/personalities on GAF, as well as a decent chunk of players that frequent local tournament circuits often. We have a lot of people that don't really post here that much anymore but are very good players as well (dragonballjoseph comes to mind). We could interview Saty from the grave!

The game was getting stale. Also because everybody knew there was a big patch coming, nobody played and people lost interesting in the downtime between. The patch failed to bring the people that took a break.

I know lately, the MK peeps that play injustice are complaining that injustice lacks footsies due to walk speed and some other stuff. I know PL and a few other testers actually pushed for faster walk speed but the devs said no or something.

Man, Absolute Battle is the first tournament I've been to in almost 2 years. 5th place sucks, but I was so effin rusty. Oh well, it was fun. Definitely should have beat fchamp though :/

Yeah really surprised at the drop that Injustice has had. Maybe the new PS4/PC edition might breath some life into the game. I will get the game on PC when its cheaper, right now its too expensive.

CD Jr has said repeatedly walk speed was a major concern of the testers but NRS reasoned forward dashing was better for forward movement. People give Jr shit but I can't lie I would've loved a faster walker speed.

OP updated. There was some confusion, but the one charity event listed in OP is actually two separate events, one in Colorado and one in Philly. The Colorado one is being streamed, but the other one is still listed in case someone wants to roll through and support. I put VSM on hiatus and made some tiny adjustments too.

We could have a player profile every week. I think it'd be best if it was a GAFer at least. Maybe GAFers could submit questions for that person (anonymously of course for maximum trolling), but it's kinda hard to think of questions.

yeah I was thinking of CDjr but I wasn't 100% sure it was him. I know PL pushed for it hard.

The NRS team didn't understand that walking forward was way more important for footsies than dashing ever will be. Considering dashing can't be normal/crouch cancel like in marvel.

I mean I think flash walks as slow as zangief IIRC. If not zangief, then some ridic slow walk speed character.

Lately if I play AE and then a few games of Injustice it's frustrating how slow the walk speed is. I still enjoy the game from time to time but certain system changes as opposed to all the character balances seemed to be necessary to keep some players interested in the game.

Yeah I was about to say... if you don't have dashes that can be block/crouch/normal canceled then they are not good footsie tools. That is where you need fast walk speed.

The walkspeed is the biggest thing I don't like about Injustice. Giving everyone slow walk speed takes a lot of depth out of the game. Otherwise, great game great experience. Just wish the level of play online was higher.

Injustice has footsies though if you want to get technical about the definition. It's just Makoto footsies and not Ryu footsies. I feel like everyone who plays a character in other games who have slow-ass walkspeed like Makoto or Sagat kind of got an unintentional head start on Injustice.

I like this idea. Could be cool if it was a different GAFfer each week who gave their profile or something. We have a lot of posters who are in here often so it could be cool to be able to get to know their thoughts a bit better and what-not.

These are all great questions as well. I think the mechanics question sorta has overlap with the one about what do you like about the games you play question I mentioned though. Perhaps those can be combined (I also don't necessarily want to create a soapbox for shitting on games you hate).

Now to find space to fit something like this in OP. Might need it's own post.

I agree with Enzo about focusing on positives (besides the worst moment, aka the Smedwicks question ;) ) Gaffers (is that right?) would be a great start. Beyond that I'm sure we wouldn't have trouble reaching out.

Ok one thing I have to say is if we are going to do this, it has to be REAL TAWK not some candy ass game journalist softball bull shit questions.

So what if someone shits on a game or a character or a mechanic? Its not like players haven't done that before. In fact too many players hold back on speaking up against something popular so that it doesn't hurt the stream monsters' feelings or whatever.

We don't have ads to hold up the thread or a professional site to maintain so the questions can be candid as hell. And there should be a best cereal question as well as a Popeye vs KFC question..

That is covered off by the open-ended questions. For example when talking about your favourite fighting game, there is plenty of scope to shit over another one. Same with asking what do you want for the future? Ie what is messed up today. It just means you don't necessarily have to do so. I do agree the Popeyes one should be in there.

Would you consider yourself a more offensive style player or a defensive player?

Which fundamental traits do you feel you excell at in fighting games (mind games, execution, defense, rushdown, spacing/zoning)?

How would you define common fighting game terms like "cheap" "broken" or "spam"?

Agreed, I'm also having issues with it, and I'm not some computer newbie who doesn't know how to turn off a script (I have ZERO add-ons installed, no Noscript, no Adblock). It's fucking stupid. Granted it's likely to be my work's networking not playing nice with it, but still, much more hassle than its worth when I get most news from iplaywinner/shoryuken/etc
