TitanFall beta confirmed??

Well if this game does end up being a huge success, I pray it is not dumbfoundedly shallow as COD was. I can't handle another shitty generation of shitty me too shooters.

I was thinking it was kinda new Vanquish or something =/

No, competitive shooter. They are going to have some story elements mixed into the multiplayer modes.

To be honest, I have a feeling that will get old fairly quickly but seems like an interesting take on how they do it from the trailers.

I would rather they focus all of their resources on the main aspect of the game, rather than waste resources on a garbage single player campaign like the modern Call of Duties or Battlefields.

Preach it. I don't even give one shit (not even one, and I have shits every day) for single player campaigns in BF, CoD, etc.

I enjoyed the campaigns in Gears and Halo, but I would have paid full price for the MP in those games anyhow. (maybe not Gears anymore, but back in the day)

This game will likely be huge. It will drive people to XBO and will sell like mad since it's cross gen.
Sadly I doubt I'll play it as I really suck at online multiplayer games and spend more of my time in coop games these days.

Will this be tied to Origin and EA servers or have Respawn managed to avoid that ?

Sounds like it is using Microsoft's Azure Dedicated Servers for all versions.

Game is EA Partners so there is a chance it will be self-published on Steam.

I'm an XOne gamer exclusively...maybe I'm in the minority but I'm SOOO not feeling this game. Not sure what the hype is.

It's really not for everyone despite the claims to the contrary. Not everyone liked Tribes style gameplay where people run really fast and jetpack around. It's fast paced and can be brutal in the skill gap and definitely doesn't lend itself well to analog stick control.

Titanfall looks like great fun. But people expecting it to be the next big thing like CoD don't really understand what made CoD so popular, especially in America. The same people who like modern military shooters aren't always the same people who like Tribes with mechs.

The most successful infantry will be people who double jump and wall jump around. The fast firing rocket launcher the previews show them using vs mechs, I can totally see double jumping and shooting rockets down on people to be a big part of this game once the skill starts to take hold. It will become a double jumping and wall jumping crazy fight all the time.

That's not going to appeal to everyone.

Since you have never played the game, you should probably stop comparing it to Tribes. They have virtually nothing in common.

Seeing as the developers are the guys who made CoD, I think they know what made it popular.

While I get what you're saying, Titanfall doesn't seem nearly as fast paced as the Tribes. It seems like a balance between the heavy grounded gameplay in CoD and something like Tribes.

From watching videos (not the greatest way to guage, I know) it seems very familiar to CoD a large percentage of the time from a control and movement pov.

I don't think it will be as unfamiliar to CoD players as it sounds like you think it will be.

And there is that. LOL

Yeah but won't the skill start to take hold and we will see double jumping and wall jumping to factor in huge for infantry vs infantry combat? The previews always show the player playing in a specific way and they like to show the double jumping and wall jumping as just a means to get into position.

Maybe they completely disallow firing while in the air to compensate?

If someone can double jump then wall run then double jump again and rain down rockets on your head, that's quite a difference from CoD.

I´ve played TitanFall at GamesCom 3 times and I really liked it
A open beta around the holidays could really boost the One

I agree with the following that were posted back to back :p

Lets hope the PC gets the beta as well.

PC beta first plz

Would give my first born child for PC beta access.

Though I'd be on of those A-holes that use this as a "demo" as I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I really want this game. Seems interesting but I've seen this "scripted single player experience in a multiplayer only game" thing fail miserably before.

God in every titanfall thread it's the same people complaining about the resolution. Who cares? Ryse got so much shit and looks fantastic. Dead rising 3 is 720p and is one of the most fun games I've ever played.

Titanfall is going to be fantastic and looks so much fun to play. While people without an XB1 can complain all they want about the resolution, I will be playing the game and looking at my massive statue which comes with the limited edition.

Dear diary, today I learned that people care about the wrong thing and it's stupid, and since I don't care about their dumb complaints it guarantees that the game is going to be awesome.

PS - also still trying to find the exit portal to the time jump I found...

I've been thinking the same thing as well.

What made COD so popular is the skill gap is so low people can pick up the game and do well fairly easily.

I don't see that happening with Titanfall, the vertical gameplay alone will cause issues.

Let me be the first to say ..

EA stigma will ruin any chance of this being a maistream success

COD fans will not drop Ghosts or Other COD games to play this.

I has a massive erection for the PC version of this game, but after EA's astounding ability to release shit this year, I don't know... As bad as I want to preorder, logic is telling me to wait.

EA is not as in control of this IP as they are of their other disastrous launches such as TOR, BF4, and SimCity.
The difference is, they own all of thsoe IPs while Respawn owns Titanfall entirely and controls how the game is released and in what state.

EA just controls what platforms the game is published on.

At least on the PC side, the COD fanbase is just about gone. Ghosts just dropped out of the top 20 concurrent players on Steam and it was only released a few weeks ago.

Yeah that's why Battlefield isn't a success and Call of Duty hasn't been in a sales decline since Black Ops 1 right?

Oh wait, no.

The word of mouth from the Titanfall beta is going to make or break the sales. It's as simple as that. If it's as good as the impressions coming out of the conventions have been saying it is, it will sell. And it will sell very well. Simple as that.

Man what you wrote was just terrible. The game looks fantastic because I've followed every video and preview possible for it, not because of dumb complaints.

I don't know how you extrapolated that but I'm just dumbfounded at how you drew your conclusions.

I love how people say this while ignoring the fact that there are clearly people WAY better than other people at COD. I've got plenty of people on my own friends lists with k/d at .500

Of course there will always be someone better. Just in comparison to other competitive first person shooters, COD is considered the bottom of the totem pole in terms of skill ceiling.

The skill gap can still be high if someone spends enough hours at the game, but not anywhere near some other competitive shooters.

uh.
hopefully that's the last thing you say because that's some seriously crazy talk.

You honestly think 'mainstream' give a shit about EA/UBI etc? They just want to play a fun and addictive game, which Titanfall seems to check all the boxes for.

People will be able to jump around buildings and hop in and out of mechs with relative ease. You'll be able to do amazing things even if you can't aim down the sights as accurately as the other players. There seems to be more opportunities to excel outside of just accuracy and speed as it is in COD.

Can't wait for the beta for the Xbox One

Yeah, except it's exactly what you said.

We get it, you don't want to hear about resolution complaints and "it's going to be fantastic".

Just because you don't think it's a valid complaint and you're tired of hearing about it, doesn't mean it's not an important issue to others.
