Paradoxically enough, I'll be rooting for our Dutch and English friends in the group stages. Italy and/or Spain getting eliminated early would be a dream. The two teams who beat us in the last four(!) cups.

Also, Germany made the top three in 5 of the last 6 Euros/World Cups, that's pretty fucking intense pressure to advance that far again.

I love Pokken!
My guesses:

Group A = Brazil and Mexico

Group B = Spain and Netherlands

Group C = Japan and Ivory Coast

Group D = England and Italy

Group E = France and Ecuador

Group F = Argentina and Nigeria

Group G = Germany and Portugal

Group H = Belgium and South Korea

Also, what's with the Nigeria overestimating? Bosnia & Herzegovina are really good. I just hope Iran can show themselves, we have a reasonable chance as we're basically written off already, so UPSETS!

Iran has a chance to place second in that group in my opinion.

Also what happened with France? I totally missed the draw.

Incoming Suarez vs England drama. I can see it now. Can still remember the Ghana game. Something like that is gonna go down.

Why should they have been there and how did they end in that pot?

It's France were talking about. ;)

According to the fifa ranking they should have been in Pot 2. However, The Fifa decided to implement a new system in which a "random" nation from Pot 4 will take the place in Pot 2.

USA got fucked over.

Still rooting for Canada's pants though. Rooting for Iran too, I think it'll be tough for them but not impossible.

Amused by SkySports "pundits" who are all sitting there, for a whole hour, creaming themselves at the thought of facing Iran and Japan, talking how badly they want a easy group, sweating their balls (or sweating their bollocks?) during team draw.

Then they get a hard group and they go "well its good to actually have a hard group, its preferable!". Bunch of clowns, they need better pundits who are more honest than this.

I am surprised at people thinking Nigeria is some sort of lock, they are actually quite poor and disorganized, i think people just remember the Nigeria of late 90s with Okocha and the rest and think they are similar today, they arent. Bosnia has a better chance to qualify, they got Dzeko and a bunch of players in top european leagues.

Both Mexico and Croatia are worse than they used to be just a few years ago, almost impossible to pick one or the other here. Both used to be realistic dark horses in these tournaments, now they are just meh

Dream final for me is Brazil - Argentina. Do not know if that is actually possible considering the brackets/groups, just throwing what i want to see in a final or at least a semi final.

Funny how France and Switzerland got unusually good draws.

I think the US can surprise and beat Portugal and Germany. The game against Portugal is in Manaus and the one against Germany is in Recife, that can definitely play a factor in those games. Not saying the US is favorite, but it wouldn't surprise me if they pulled off a favorable result in those games. Ghana will be tough and they seem to have the USA's number, but streaks are meant to be broken. I would say Ghana has an advantage playing in Natal though....

Brazil will get Spain or Netherlands if they get out of the group stage, that's pretty insane to be the first game of the knock outs, especially if it's against Spain. If the US can get out of the groups, they can get a relatively easy game, to be honest.

For those asking "is X vs Y final possible" - every constellation for the final is possible since the first/second teams advancing from the groups are seeded on opposite sides of the bracket.

Portugal is basically a one man team at this point. I have high hopes that US can beat Portugal. As far as Germany, we beat them this year in a friendly, granted it was to a B team. But if anyone knows the German side it should be Klinsmann. And Ghana... fuck. They got some voodoo shit on US.

I think anything is possible in group G all are solid teams. Can't wait. I think England can come out also will be tough though.

I'm glad that my Portugal is in the so-called Group of Death. I rather see them play for real then goof off because they tend to get punished when goofing off not taking their opponents seriously.
Germany = the 2nd best team in the world
USA = best team from CONCAF
Ghana = 2nd best team of all of Africa (remember they had Uruguay on the ropes till the very hand. LOL Luis Suarez, I love Luis Suarez)

iirc last time that happened in a major tournament was '04 when Greece scraped out of the group then went in to stun Portugal (at home) in the final

It's nice to have dreams

They are on a very low point right now, they were almost disqualified from a series of embarrassing loses.

True.

But in the past, the "better" performances of Mexico in world cups (without being host) have come from the worst qualifiers. USA 1994, for example. Mexico was shit in qualifiers, got knocked out by Bulgaria in penalties, or France 1998 (4 wins, 6 ties, in qualifiers) got knocked out by Germany 2-1 (Mexico was winning at the beginning 1-0).

It's Mexico we're talking about. We're always doomed. The same was said in 2010, etc. It'll be like always, we'll have a good game, one or two ties, and we'll be out in the next round for sure. Boring, to be honest.

Scraped? They beasted through the entire tournament. They'll batter Portugal again if faced with the challenge.

Could see England coming second in the group, first if Uruguay and Italy cancel each other out. Thing about Uruguay is that they are mostly utter gash apart from up front, if we sort out our defense we could easily get a draw and snatch a win. Costa Rica is a must-win. Italy could be a draw, luckily there's no extra time or penalties in the group stage so we can play them like we did in the Euro's. The problem for Italy and England is the climate, which will likely boost Uruguay and Costa Rica.

Except for one thing.

Mexico always beats Brazil.

(and always loses to Argentina).

Thats their trump card.
