Ready @ Dawn: "Graphic fidelity of The Order 1886 definitely exceeds the trailer"

Since they've unveiled this game they've definitely talked way more about the graphics and cinematic crap than the gameplay. I still have no idea how it plays or what they're aiming for. It's all flimic, cinematic, story story *vomit* story.

Least the setting looks interesting and fresh.

Oh man, imagine how good this game would look it if was actually rendered at 1080p.

We know you hate cinematic games Derrick.

Better than not talking at all, no? At least this way, people like me could tune in, while people like you can tune out. :)

As long as the framerate isn't cinematic.

I don't know a lot about it in order to get excited, but I trust Ready at Dawn.

They described it fairly competently in the GI issue.

So it was absent at VGX which only makes me wonder when will they do another reveal with gameplay....

Man I cannot wait for this. Graphics on the PS4 (and Xbox One with Ryse) already dwarfing expectations!

Looking forward to it

But considering the games the studio has put out, I'll remain skeptical about the actual game; love the setting and some of the ideas, but we'll see how it's going to turn out

Game Informer said the build they saw (that the gameplay shots were taken from) was one of the most impressive things they had ever seen. No doubt when this is finally shown to the public it will look even better and likely 'blow-minds'.

I can see this being the first Gears of War of this generation. Still remember how much that game amazed me and my friends at the time.

Depends on where you set your expectations. So far from what I've seen of the PS4 and Xbox One, they do what I'd expect of the hardware.

So another 2 and a half months of nothing. All that's remaining is a closed mega theater at this event and the transformation is complete.

I don't think that it'll be two months of nothing. The PS4 will launch in its final major territory before then, so i'm sure that Sony will do some things on the lead up to it.

But their games were great. Ghost of Sparta was fantastic :-/

I honestly expected PS3.5 style comments from launch titles, as is par for the course every new generation. Instead I've been pretty blown away. Shadow Fall, Ryse, NBA 2K14 etc taking names, even favourably comparing to the best PC's (enthusiast) have to offer, and that's at launch. Shadow Fall and Ryse for example trading blows with Crysis 3 and BF4 at max PC settings (minus the ultra down sampled IQ) and the like. DriveClub easily ousting ProjectCars etc. The future is very bright indeed.

I just want to know if it's going to be anything but another typical 3rd person shooter.

this. graphics are nice and all, but if it'll play just like any other 3rd person shooter with a dull world, lore, and characters, then what's the point?

it's ready at dawn though. they made some of the best psp games. hopefully those translate to the big screen experience.

This has been the case for most if not all ps4 games. Infamous is looking better every time we see it. I can't think of a game that's had a visual downgrade. Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

It's okay, I fixed it.

Also, jokes are often replied to with jokes.
Just making a quick point...:p

The 2.40:1 ratio decision was made before Sony saw the prototype pitch, it IS an art decision. All the FOVs and lens settings are designed around 2.40:1, there's nothing outside the rendering borders and not comparable to games that rendered in 16:9 with add-on letterbox.

Take your time RAD, this is one of the most promising games I'm looking forward to. Can't wait for the full re-reveal

What is there to indicate that the world, lore or characters are dull? From what we've seen, it seems to be quite the opposite. Now if people don't like linear 3rd party shooters then perhaps they should approach this cautiously but seriously how can every game that is 3rd person and provide some sort of cover based mechanic get called out to be generic (ahhhh) just because of this? See Quantum Break thread... it's just... I don't know

While it looks nice and pretty, its the physics simulation in materials that impresses most. Oh, and the lighting. Oh, and the fire.

After seeing their work on portable devices, this isn't a surprise. This game is going to be beautiful.

Also, the mustaches.

None of that seems to be remotely the case though, from everything we've seen, heard and read thus far. Quite the contrary in-fact. The lore, characters, weapons, setting etc, everything looks super enticing and well executed. Even their damn names and outfits for heaven's sake. And this…

As a semi-Londoner myself (home away from home), this just calls out to me.

I agree with most of this. I've played Crysis 3 maxed at 1080p on a high end PC, still Killzone was more impressive in many ways (aside from IQ / some effects like rain). BF4 I haven't seen on PC but it looks pretty fantastic on PS4 and uses many of the PC's ultra settings and still hits 60fps.

PS4 is really impressing me so far and this is just at launch. My Macbook runs the majority of indie games and i'm quite happy playing multi plats on PS4, not really missing PC gaming at all since moving over to Mac full-time.

But it is exciting the prospect of seeing a built for the ground up next gen game that is using a true next gen engine and isn't being rushed out for the launch window.
