I've always liked the Hiizumi backstory, and seeing it develop was nice. The mayor stuff ends as bit of a farce and I'm glad we're past that. Next episode looks fun.

The show handles fluff well, but in scenes that demand something more, I feel like it constantly undermines itself via stilted pacing or random ass shots out of nowhere. And I guess the material itself doesn't allow for much nuance. Still, pls control all the perverts, pedotimo. :-(

Kino's Journey 2

Didn't know the title of this episode would be so literal.

I like how Kino's revolver really makes a loud and echoing noise when shot. Generally something I love when well executed. Makes the impact of the shot on the viewer more powerful.

Kino's struggle with killing the rabbits for those three men was a constant throughout the episode. Really captured in the end when she(?) realizes who these men were and ended up killing them out of self-defense, and then looking back at the furs hanging on the branch, thinking how she ended three rabbits' lives to help three men who were scum and who she ended up killing anyway. Then unable to answer the question Hermes asked as to whether she would do it again.

The world in this show seems pretty vast, and there are some dark tales within it.

Such an incredible show! It's certainly one of the best.

Log Horizon Episode 10:

Who knew civics lessons could be this entertaining? Yes, Log Horizon has come quite the long way from those shaky first episodes, this is not just the MMORPG show we need, but this is the one we deserve. Anyway, it is time to close out the Akihabara arc with the formal drafting of the grand oligarchy and it is really a wonder to watch this show display a level of intelligence that other pieces of shit known as Sword Art Online could only dream of accomplishing. Yes, peace and prosperity have come to the land and the capstone to the proceedings is the crafting of the Log Horizon guild hall and the true birth of our titular guild. Also, Log Horizon finally lays down a card about the world itself and establishes

that they are not trapped in the actual game, they are trapped in some sort of dimension inspired by Eldar Tales, which now has recast the NPC into a nativist population and it seems a war may be brewing.

... War with the native population? How could the "people of the land" ever hope to compete, given that they don't respawn after dying and aren't superhero-strong?

That doesn't make sense, yet at least...

Otherwise though, yeah. This show has improved a lot, and is definitely quite good now. I hope it stays this good. We'll see.

Log Horizon 10

Man, this arc was pretty awesome. When I first started this show, I didn't expect it to end up so smart and... good! Shiroe is definitely the best protagonist of the season.

Infinite Stratos 2-10

The Cecilia cooking lessons were funny but holy shit this was the worst animated episode I've seen this season. Hey look at that fucking moon while an action sequence is going on!

I should say the production values are something to be embarrassed about but I know that everybody involved doesn't give a shit.

Animated? That stuff costs money! And anyway, even as it is the important stuff is here... the CG fights, the harem antics, etc.

Also Ichika must have cut up his ballsack during one of those cooking lessons as it's nowhere to be found.

When has he ever acted any differently as he does there? That's just how he is, and part of why he's the most oblivious harem lead ever.

Once I read your post, I realize I miss the ending when the "main" story came back.

What do you mean, you stopped watching before you got to that part? That's understandable if true, it was a really bad episode...

Well, previews in general tend to be a spot for anime to do whatever-the-heck-they-feel-like (as long as it's not actually previewing the next episode, that is...) And idols do love publicity!

I guess so, yeah. I guess I'd just rather see actual characters from the show, instead of random mostly-unrelated idol (or voice actor or something ) stuff. Plus it's kind of hard to figure out what they're talking about some of the time, I presume that knowing who they are outside of these previews would help, but yeah, no way would I care about such things.

Anybody who thinks the fanservice in Kill la Kill or even Yozukura Quartet was bad should watch YuuShubu, I can take a lot, but the fanservice just utterly killed that show for me.

Kill la Kill and YuuShubu do fanservice in very different ways, though. KlK is full of fanservice for sure, but YuuShubu's style is worse, I think. I mean, Kill la Kill is a homage to fanservice-filled shows of the past. YuuShubu, though, is something which could have tried to tell a moderately interesting story, but instead decided to go full stupid and just be about stupid levels of fanservice. They are not the same in results, even if both are fanservice-filled.

On the other hand this also a program about about an RPG world set in modern times with magical appliances and more to the point a generation of characters who were gearing up to fight a great war all of a sudden find themselves with a very sudden peace and warriors on both side are struggling to adjust in this strange, new world. This premise got corroded by cheap gags and softcore fanservice that I'll be honest, when goes that far, go all the fucking way. Find a digital channel and be the hentai we all know you want to be. For all of this YuuShbu has earned my hatred.

The concept is nothing original, for sure -- these "hero and the demon king" shows are a genre now, after all, and this is a spin on that genre -- but it did have more promise than will ever been seen in the show, thanks to their decision to make it be all about the fanservice over anything else.

Spice and Wolf - 1

So I saw that this was a romantic adventure. I'm always up for those. And for a first episode this was pretty good. I'm getting some Tales of Xillia vibes from this Holo character. I have to say though, our main character Lawrence is taking this whole "meeting a god" thing pretty well. I mean, he's shocked at first, but then is all: "oh, cool. You're a wolf god."

Anyway, this should be a fun little ride. I can at least expect this journey to be more upbeat than Kino's Journey was.
