Boku Girl 1

A brand new manga series about Loki turning an effeminate looking man insecure about his own looks and lack of manliness into a woman. *thumbsup*

Sneewittchen - Geschichten nach Grimm 6

An interesting take on Rapunzel, though I really do wanna read the other one the author was talking about in the afterwords a lot more.

I doubt it unfortunately.

I think he did that thinking he could just go back to rubbish waifu fanservice chapters afterward only to realize everyone was pissed and wanted another Royal Garden arc where the series pretty much full shifts to battle manga. But he doesn't want to do the serious storylines consistently, thus we get the chapter "This is the sort of manga you're reading" to firmly reinforce it's a fanservicey comedy.

I'm out if the next arc doesn't deliver. If he didn't want people to like stuff like Royal Garden arc he should have never done it in the first place.
Also calling your thing "the combat butler", even in jest is a bit of a boner, all said.

But yeah, if we're getting nothing from him, then sod the whole endeavour. This isn't Jump where spinning your wheels gets you anything (unless you're Detective Conan or Rumiko Takahashi, who, for the most part has earned the right to screw off).

Shounen Sunday is a better comic than that.

I can understand the complaints but this is how Hayate has always been. It's a gag comedy with some serious arcs, like Gintama & Sket Dance. Also does Hayate no Gotoku even translate to Hayate the Combat Butler, or was that just Viz calling it that? EDIT: Looked it up and saw it's written in English beneath the Japanese on the volume covers.

The JP Logo has "The combat butler" on it.

K: The First 1

More K = more awesome and next month is K high school and thankfully they will be picking that one up too. Pretty hyped to see how it goes. This one, The First, follows the anime episode one closely though does provide a bit more dialogue and aspect to a few characters. Though by now after rewatching the anime so much and all these stories have it all essentially memorized. It just never gets old and tiring. Yata is so happy here even. Great.

Oh god he avatar quoted me /blush
Everyone avatar quotes you.
You're like some sort of avatar quote slut.
I'm sorry, but I had to give you the brutal truth.
Hey you.

...yes you.

I want you to recommend me something.
Slice of life are ok.
Battle Shonen are ok.
Romance is ok.
Sports are ok i guess.
Shoujo are ok only if it's really really good.
Fanservice is a no-no unless the manga itself excels in other areas.

Suggest something even if it doesn't fit in the things previously mentioneded.
I have faith that you will make me read something good.
I don't want to overload you, so I will give you one recommendation only.
Hourou Musuko. Nice, nice, very nice coming of age SoL with the added stress of questioning one's own gender.

Soredemo Kamawanai 3 and 4

So many super cheesy moments but for the thirty something years olds in love and Takamine and Okumura its really lovely and sweet. If only Okumura would let Takamine in closer instead of holding him at a distance. But at least unlike his ex-girlfriends he keeps him close. Really funny at times.

Heart no Kakurega 8

Jin and Momo's story has finally took off with drama and mixed feelings. Terrible cliffhanger moment due to death but at least it suggest they could potentially sort out their feelings with crisis. I dont know why they make Momo so afraid to commit or anything, but it keeps it intriguing.

Man, Ace was so weak. Only reason he was around was because Whitebeard felt sorry for him. He is so insignificant. Law would've left him in Chambres.

you're only supposed to shoot in the wrassle thread!

Speaking of OP, I wonder if the players Impel Down and Marineford will ever show up again. Like, is Crocodile just laying low, or will we finally find out what Iva meant about knowing Croc's secret whenever Dragon's army turns up. Where did Marco and co go, etc etc

Angry Grimace

Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
Ditto. Everything about Dragon is so mysterious from his power, his past, his army...etc (anyone else think he used to be a marine? I wonder what kind of relationship he had with Garp). And yeah Luffy doesn't give a squat about his dad :D

That kind of thing is one of the things prevents me from even bothering to catch up with One Piece. I read far enough in to know kind of who Dragon and Vegapunk are, but it doesn't sound like the people who are caught up (e.g. 500 chapters ahead) have any more insight as to those characters.

Is there a Jump this week?

No, but the unofficial word is don't be surprised if there is anyways. Getting it early is just a trade-off though since you just make up the time by waiting longer to get the next one, e.g. there will be no chapter until mid-January if one shows up roughly around normal time.

Still haven't seen Soma from last week.

Nah, I think I just have an e-crush on Kurita-kun. I noticed that I reply to him more than anyone else. I'm not sure why.
Regarding avatar quotes, my avatar just isn't iconic enough, nor does it have a good facial expression to use as a reaction. It's like a blank stare.

Aside from being seen in a couple of flashbacks, Dragon is still a mystery. I could be mistaken, but I don't remember if Vegapunk has even appeared beyond being a name, yet.

I think at most we've seen a silhouette maybe of Vegapunk and seen him talk a bit to Caesar in a flashback during Punk Hazard.

Shonen Jump Manga Contest
Six comics from around the world enter, one gets a publishing deal for Jump. Out of the six, I only cared for half of the line up; Golden Rabbit (USA), BOOM (China) and El Vento del Nore (Taiwan).

So here's a quick run down of the losers:
SweatMan (Japan): Dumb, Dumb, Dumb; it read like someone wanted to do One Punch Man but with everything good about OPM distilled into dishwater.

Morning Star(Spain): was a massive load of Eh that had nothing of interest.

Team before Daybreak(China) was good as a short story but I can't see how this would work in Jump without it being a third rate Hellsing and/or Black Blood Brothers

Now; The three I did like:
Golden Rabbit(USA): Color me surprised, a really good short story with emotions and one of the few in the lot that didn't rely on a super power to run though it's story. The Cartoony art is really nice and I think would look good in Jump.

BOOM (China): Nice! It was like someone made took a Studio Trigger anime and made it into a comic and somehow kept the all the motion. The weapons were really well thought out and I really like the main character and the antagonist. I could really see this taking off in Jump if only for how the main conciet could work.

El Vento del Nore (Taiwan): This one I want to see more off in seralised format. I want to know more about Elizabeth's power and how it can be applied to more situations.

Gonna have a time figuring which one to pick.

You are correct, you know the names and their status and position but nothing else is really known.
Oda will realize one day he made huge mistake with dragging this so long.

I've been reading these Jump contests as well, especially since they're letting USA read and judge as well (not sure if they did this before but I'll always judge some manga).

So far I've only read Golden Rabbit, and it was very new and clever. A story about a boy catching a Leprechaun that's a rabbit is pretty interesting, also the art wasn't half bad either. I'm about to read the rest but something tells me I'll have a huge biased towards the USA applicant, darn my love for my country.

So my 2 choices that I like the best is BOOM, and Sweat Man.

BOOM looks really good in the art department, and the story is interesting. A guy with bomb powers sounds pretty cool, and his whole reasoning for adventuring is cool as well. To rid the world of dangerous bombs, to replace them with entertaining ones. Pretty nice. The only thing I disliked was the big earrings on the MC, but it's not a huge problem. Just a little pet peeve, nothing else.

Sweat Man has a nice story and is original in the "guy who sweats too much" part. I don't mind another super hero kind of story, especially if it ends up like Ratman. I am going to have to say that his power has been done in different forms. If anyone has read Rising X Rydeen, the main character has the power of gel. So he can slip and slide everywhere. Actually speaking of same powers, he kinds reminds me of Hakkan.

Even though I want to vote for the US guy, BOOM and Sweat Man impressed me way too much to vote for it. I do have to say that the story was at least adorable and creative.

El Vento del Nore = BOOM > Morning Star > Team before Daybreak > Golden Rabbit >>> SweatMan

Can't decide between my top two.

BOOM's reminds me of OP with the comedic powers in battle (and the artstyle), while VdN is more straightforward and standard seeming, but with great art and designs (and a strong female protagonist).

Leaning towards Vento, but I would read both it and BOOM if they were full series.

World Trigger 44

I always enjoy the Trigger on scenes. It was a good Invasion start, hoping it takes off next chapter. Am expecting quite a few big things hopefully. A truly fearsome Trion Soldier would be great.
