Multiple monsters? So we could see more than 4v1?

No, just one, but there is a selection of different monsters you can play as, each with their own abilities.

Any mention of smaller monsters or wildlife attacking the players? Otherwise I can't imagine a down but now out mechanic and medic and whatnot.

Yes. They talk about these wolf-like creatures that can be deadly in a pack.

Hopefully they've learned some things since making the Left 4 Dead games. Like how to make games fun to play for instance...

The game features a separate solo experience according to the article. Turtle Rock is leaving those details for another time though.

They only talk about the 'main hunt mode'.

- 4 classes. Medic, Assault, Support, Trapper.
- Each class has multiple characters to choose from.
- Multiple monsters to choose from as well, each with their own unique abilities, but they only talk about Goliath.
- 3rd person when playing as the monster.
- Goliath's abilities: Breathing Fire, Leap Attack, Charge Attack, Rock Throw. Also some stealth abilities if you want to stalk the hunters. You start out with two abilities of your choosing, and as you evolve you unlock more.
- Levels feature 'wildlife simulation', including carnivorous plants. Goliath evolves by hunting the wildlife. Hunters get special temporary bonuses for killing 'elite wildlife', faster health regen, extra damage, etc.

Little bit more:

- You don't need a full squad to play. AI fills in the empty spots. This goes for the monster too.
- Players can revive each other like in Left 4 Dead. Three-Strikes rule applies here as well.
- All the Hunters have jetpacks.
- Team Monster can win multiple ways. Either kill all 4 Hunters at the same time or complete an objective. The objective example they give is take down a shield
generator at a mining facility. Sounds like it's guarded by AI. Each level has it's own unique objective.

This all sounds awesome. So hyped for this now, want to see some gameplay.

This sounds pretty cool. I'm actually pretty pumped on all the unique multiplayer stuff happening in AAA right now.

carnivorous plants were mentioned, seems to be as they would be attacking both sides

It's very, very similar to a mod called The Chosen for hl2. The Chosen was 8 vs 1; the monster player had tons of cool skills and powers, the soldiers had scanners, different roles, etc

Wait, this isn't Shenmue 3, nor Half-Life 3, or the Last Guardian. I am not flipping out. L4D was a great game, yes, but this doesn't really excite me at all.

I like that cover a lot, it'll at least stand out when on the rack.

Also, this sounds neat.

So this game has no local splitscreen co-op? That's a massive shame, a huge backwards step from their last game. Local co-op was a fundamental part of L4D, I would have probably never bought it otherwise.

Playing Left 4 Dead in couch co-op was FUCKING AWESOME. Playing with some random strangers who don't talk was far worse.

SWEET! Thanks for this, hype rising.

Assymetric multiplayer is super awesome.

I can only wish them the best. I will have to see some gameplay first before I see how much this really intrests me beyond the fact that it is Cryengine (I really did not like L4D)

Just finished reading the article, and damn this sounds fascinating. The stuff around the actual PvP play (evolving itself, the wildlife, etc.) sounds great. Definitely keeping an eye out for this now.

I like the premise. Not disappointed.

This.

Left 4 Dead 1/2 are among my most played games. The whining in here is typical of most GI reveals (shoot the messenger in this case) but the content is exciting. There's still room for 12hr high production value campaign rentals but I'm more excited for what this is about.

Still blame Game Informer for sending these guys into the wrong eyes in the wrong light.

So this is one of the first new IPs from 2K/Take-Two for this gen. They've been very quiet about what games they have coming. Looks promising.

I imagine one of the goals of the monster will be to isolate the players from each other. If they can capture that feeling of dread or fear of being alone, like in the Alien movies, it could be really fun.

Sounds pretty cool, I liked L4D and 2 for what they are and this has the potential to be even better. I get that it's not in some people's interest but at least give it credit for the monster idea.

Screw HL3. L4D is more fun.

This is fucking awesome. I'm hyped as hell.

I'm so in.

Sounds interesting but I'm sure today's obsessive, neurotic multiplayer community will in no time flat suck most of the fun out of the experience for everyone save for the equally obsessive and neurotic.

Sounds amazing. Left 4 Dead is the best multiplayer experience from the last gen IMO, so i have very high expectations put in this.

Sounds cool. Its like Predator x L4D.

Its like what a real Aliens game should be like. 1 predator against weak prey where they must work together to survive. Sweet!

Hype rising. That sounds pretty awesome tbqh.

I'm not sure I understand this though. You have to kill all four players at the same time or can you kill them each individually?

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Sounds really interesting and I'm very excited but I can't help but feel it would have been better as 4v4. Left 4 Dead 2 was at its finest when 4 human Survivors tried to outsmart 4 Special Infected working in conjunction to ambush the survivors.

Predator in L4D indeed. Not bad at all. Seems like the levels have wildlife and AI danger and missions, and the two teams have different objectives from each other, but intersecting.

Since they can revive each other, killing them all at the same time ensures no revival. Or maybe eliminate one by one until none left. Last to survive type of thing.
