Use rosalina, or get two tanooki suits. I find it impossible to beat normally imo, as certain jumps need the float/double jump ability.

Alternatively, play this stage in coop mode. The only instance where coop is much more fun than single player. Rosalina is still required for this run as well though, lol.

MGRR in about 14 hours, can't wait to see how my OC'd CPU will handle things.

Am I missing something. I just preloaded the game and was surprised by the ~24GB install size. I thought this game was going to be locked at 1080 resolution? If that is the case what accounting for the size? MGR:R fit on a 360 disc which is a maximum of 8GB. This install is 3 times the size and the only thing I could think of that would take up that much room is higher resolution textures and less compressed audio.

So my question is is if we might be getting much higher resolution textures but still getting a 1080 max resolution aren't those textures going to go to waste? I've been gaming on a 1600 monitors for the last 10 years and the only way I'm going to 1080 is if my videocards can't keep up with a game and I want to take the cheap route versus buying new video cards.

360 version hella compressed the cutscenes.

There's no correlation between texture sizes and resolution of the game. The PS3 PSN version of the game is 18.5gb. It's more the case the 360 version just was compressed more.

guys I'm pretty excited about this game got my preload going. I gotta admit that I'm a total MGR virgin and haven't seen any footage at all of the game except maybe the reveal for the original release a long time ago. other than that total media blackout. All I know is that it the main char is raiden and that it's an action game and that you fight with a sword.

I'm pretty rusty in my metal gear lore though, haven't played any games since 4 originally came out like 5 years ago. any thing I should brush up on story wise? or if I know basically nothing will I be ok?

You'll be fine. The game is fun, the controls are tight, the action is high, and the OST is excellent. I can't wait to replay it a 5th time.

So is this better with the DS4 over the 360 pad? Or just individual preference? Also, is no one doing a VPN? I guess it wouldn't work for another few hours, I may give it a try when my pre load finishes.

It's about preference for any game that don't require dpad IMO. I personally like DS3 better than DS4, but there you go

Ah, I don't really have any desire to use a Wii U controller, so i'll skip since i'd have to purchase the adapter.

EDIT: I also completely misread your initial post, I thought you meant the Tablet, as of the recent thread of using it on PC

A bit sad, just spent some time configuring my DS4 to work with my PC and I won't be using it for Rising.

Everything works fine but I tested it out with some DMC4 and I get a couple frames of input lag, my Exceed timing is definitely off with the DS4 compared to the 360 pad.

It's probably just inherent to the way the wrapper works, real shame though :(

Can't wait. Revengeance unlocks half an hour after I finish work and I've got it preloaded. Body am ready. I wonder if it will be any better than the console versions.

100% on PS3 and I'm still double dipping for this. Technically I bought the game 3 times since I bought the Japanese special edition for White Raiden figure, Gamespot for Grey Fox skin and bought it here at the military base exchange the day it released because I couldn't wait for it to be shipped over. Now I've bought it a fourth. Think what you will but when someone said PG + MGS, I said shutup and take my money haha.

I got it for $15 on Amazon but I would have paid $50. It's worth it.

I still can't believe there is no modding scene here in Japan. UK, USA, China and other countries are WAYYYYY ahead in comparison. My mistake was building a new PC in Japan instead of ordering all the parts online back in the UK. Don't get me wrong, Japan always get the latest stuff but that's about it, the latest usual commercial stuff... not lots of third party variety stuff which is wholly needed. It's a major pity.
