My precious :
Oh man, it's criminal how expensive that game has become. I am jealous.
My precious :
I don't have it hooked up with component cables so I should be good... If I manage to find a good deal on the game, that is. Some GameCube games have really held their value. I wonder if the same thing is going to happen with the Wii U.I'm guessing it's because there aren't as many copies of the GameCube version as there are of the PS2 version.
But I will warn you: If you try to play Mega Man X Collection on your GameCube or Wii and you have it hooked up to your TV with component cables, you will have a lot of trouble. Capcom didn't upgrade the resolution to 480p for this collection.

Hope Santa gets me a device that takes better pictures! @_@ said:
I kinda want to get into an RPG for a little while. I'll probably get interrupted by Christmas games, but I feel like starting one today. What I'm getting at here is... which is the better starting point, Baten Kaitos or Origins? I assume Origins comes first as far as time line, but sometimes prequels are better appreciated after the 'main' story. Opinions?

That's what I thought in middle school, after I played the first couple hours (well, just that it didn't seem very great). The fixed camera thing bugs me like crazy, animations and dialogue feel super sluggish, and the voice acting isn't doing the game many favors. I went ahead and played back to about the same point, so far my opinion is only slightly more positive. The first Baten Kaitos isn't that great, and the main character is one of the worst around...
Nice! I'm pretty sure I'll almost always have a GCN hooked up too. Compared to modern systems, it's so refreshing to hook in a simple controller (wired or easy to connect wireless) and go straight into the game all the time (unless you specifically don't want to). Compared to older systems it's great how durable it is (though it's still too new to really start to run into any long term issues). I even keep a Cube, CRT, and two controllers in the trunk of my car in case anyone ever feels like playing Smash Bros.Oh wow! What a joyous thread *subs* I've had my Cube hooked up almost constantly for years now. As soon as the PS4 came out the PS3 and 360 got unplugged but the glorious Gamecube remains.
Apologies for the crappy picture quality.
And a picture of my modest collection. I'm happy with the games I've got though (a few I'd like to rebuy eventually) also kept Zelda shrink wrapped
Pulled the memory card out for the first time in years...

What the fuck is the deal with Luigi's Mansion? It's slightly expensive for some reason. 5 to 7 years ago I saw it in Gamestop for like 7 bucks. Had to get it online for around 30. That was the cheapest I found it too.

maybe you should play this game a little bit more then 10 hours.
this game is known for its art and its later on pretty much-jrpg-style story.
at the end of the game you can unlock so many things.
i spent around 75hours and couldnt unlock a lot of things i knew which were existing(read about that years later)
didnt play origins but i think thats a pretty awesome game too...
I finally got fed up with hunting for decent condition Cube controllers at my local game shops, broke down and ordered one of those shiny new white controllers with the 9ft cord off Amazon. Gonna be here sometime next week, can't wait to break this thing in.

Hello Gamecube GAF.
I'm starting to amass quite a collection for my favourite system, including some rarer ones, but the problem is because it's split with my girlfriend (and I was originally from the PAL regions) we have a split of PAL and NTSC games.
We have an Action Replay and I don't mind using it to change regions and a set of GC component cables (thanks to a friend in Australia.) Given that in some games I don't care about a framerate drop (I almost never care about it from 60 to 50, F Zero GX being an exception, and only in games with high reaction times do I care about 30 to 25) which will look better:
576i through a good deinterlacer (such as the xRGB Framemeister Mini)
or
480p through component for games that support it?
Basically I'm wondering if I should stick to NTSC games for future purchases or get a good upscaler+de-interlacer and roll with PAL?
Just stick to NTSC. PAL conversions are trash, and nothing will change this.
I like Origins a lot more than the first one. The battle system was improved and the voice acting was incredible. The characters were so well developed and I loved the relationships between them all.

I'm hoping it's just a matter of sticking with it though. I hear praise heaped on it fairly often (including from some irl friends), and I really want to give it more of a shot. I really think the story will become interesting later on and the battle system will be fun once I get more varied/better cards.
As far as the main character, he seems pretty unlikeable so far. But it's an interesting enough gimmick to keep me wondering.

I wonder if demand from the Smash community keeps the prices high. Also is it me or are Gamecube Controllers still expencive as crap these days? I've been hoping to get a few so I could play some of the gamecube Mario Party games with friends but dang its hard to find a Gamecube controller cheap out there, let alone a functioning one.

Does the Wavebird introduce any significant lag over a wired controller?
I'll be having some friends over for a friendly tournament including F-Zero GX and WarioWare, Inc., and I'm wondering if there will be any disadvantages to mixing wired and wireless controllers. For a level playing field, should everyone have one type of controller, or is the difference negligible/nonexistent?
^Ah, thx. It's pretty casual. But I'm gonna try to rustle up 4 'birds to at least avoid cord tangles.
Also out of curiousity what would be considered some of the more rare and expensive game for the GameCube now a days?
you should be good; be it smash, bomberman, mario party etc i find no complaints in groups where they get used & others have wired ones, personally.
Cubivore
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance to a lesser extent
I've been looking for an affordable copy of Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (with Bongos) for years now. It was literally my favourite game of last generation, but (being a stupid teenager) I sold it for money that I assume went to dirtcheap whiskey and/or Graphic novels. I can't find it anywhere in Ontario, and last time I checked Ebay it's offers start at $100 and climbed. I've debated just getting the Wii version, but I feel like it won't be the same.

Wow, Gamestop was clearing them out a few years ago for $1 each. That's how I got my set.

I love this game SO much. Spent many, many hours on the DC and GC. If it is indeed the plus version, you did get a pretty good deal.I think this is a pretty good deal...
I just got Phantasy Star Online for 33$ I think its the plus version too (Ordered off ebay)
I am pretty excited, I always wanted to try out this game
If you have lots of games you should list them so we aren't recommending games you already own. You also seem to have a good idea of what games you're looking for, so it's hard to give you a good answer.
