I recall someone on AnimeGAF saying that they chose slug avatars because the tentacles served as the equivalent of extra hands, allowing them to get more work done.
A better adaptation wouldn't have left out such important details from the book, I guess.
Can't be any worse than Turn-A.

I think there were rumors of this a week or so ago: Akame Ga Kill anime announced.
The big question is who is doing the adaptation? BONES is killing themselves already and they were probably the closest to being the best fit.

Two episodes in and this still really entertaining. I still couldn't help but feel at the beginning this'd be better served as a show about magical cops kickin' some magical criminal ass but I couldn't really care any less now as this still finds a way to include some action scenes, bon.

There's some hardcore stuff in there. Either the anime is going to be neutered as fuck or censored as fuck. Also no way in hell are they going to animate that bonus chapter. People who have read it know exactly what I mean. I'm pretty used to 'suffering' and 'edgy' and there's some stuff in there that are rough.
Dude, they make that Soul Eater spinoff.
Maybe at this point, they just bowing to their Square-Enix overlord.

I think I really have seen waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much bad anime recently because I legitimately, unironically came to enjoy this thing by its ending. I never, ever thought I'd find myself enjoying a bad dub gritty gore and tits cyber punk dystopian future cop drama, but there it is. I mean, the thing was actually pretty well animated, the plot was easy to follow, the action was neat, and the terrible dub enhanced Goku's one-liners, rather than just being a crummy dub job. At the end of the piece, Goku is pondering his eye's awesome power and concludes:
END FILM. There was all kinds of stupid weird shit that made it List worthy and not just really bad, like motorcycle and peacock woman and the fact that Goku's magical eye's donor is never even explained. There were manly, hardcore scenes like Goku gouging his own eye out to save his life, or using the laser head to shoot the evil scientist through the head. The violence wasn't just dumb uber gory violence. It was actually enjoyable in the kind of over the top way one might appreciate, rather than "hey look at this guy squeeze a head into popping like a balloon!"
And the worst part of it all was that Goku's eye, broken as an eye that grants one control to all nuclear missiles on Earth is, was actually used in a fairly reasonable way. It didn't give him laser vision or invincibility, but rather it made Goku, who had hitherto been more bruiser than detective, use his brain to get out of situations. Its hints and clues were more or less actually just hints and clues and not some magical bullshit I'd expect from an anime. I can't believe I'm saying this but the Midnight Eye was a fairly believable, reined in power for an anime protagonist to have. And that says a lot about how bullshit anime heroes' powers are if a dude having access to two nuclear arsenals is reined in.
Does the List require I watch the second one? Should I? I probably will.

I don't see it saying Akame is in Spring anywhere. For all we know, it could be a year off. Blood Lad was announced long before it actually aired.

Just caught up with all of the shows I missed this weekend. After watching them, the world conquering loli show grew on me a bit more, and the rest were ok or enjoyable enough to not drop.
Noragami continues to be the stand-out show this season for me. While nothing out of this world original, Yato's underdog charisma is amazing (dat voice acting), the animation is incredible and the music. Jesus christ I am loving the music. It's like the World Ends With You all over again. I really do hope they release the OST.

The guys have a separate tournament. Have to segregate them out in order to keep things fair, because they'd never have a chance of winning against the better girls...
For instance, Ritz said at some point (not in the manga) that the winner of the guys' tournament would only be about as good as a mid-tier player on the girls' side, at best. Of course apart from in Saki Shinohayu (the new spinoff manga showing the backstory of the mahjong pros along with some new characters too, which is currently in elementary school) no boys have been seen playing mahjong, but they do exist. (Shinohayu minor early spoiler)
And yes, even in elementary school the girls are better. One guy reaches the final in the first tournament shown, but he finishes last there.

The MC design is so bad that it is ruining what could be a damn interesting premise...it is made even worse by the fact that almost everyone else looks normal and that she is getting called out on it. Like I am a guy who normally doesn't mind out there designs...but fucking hell man.

It's reassuring this is embarrassing the absurdity of it all and is keeping it relatively light-hearted as I really doubt this show will be able to keep it together the moment it starts taking itself seriously. The stuff in the preview has me worried to say the least.
