are you referring to the second and third game or just the rest of the game being just as slow

this spaceship is getting the best of me

The middle and end might not actually be quite as slow, I think the cutscenes end up being spaced out a little better as you move forward. It's still a very cutscene heavy game all the way through, though. Like 8ish hours of it throughout the first game alone.

The problem with Valve's corporate structure is it isn't flexible. Flat works for creative types, sure-- nevermind that they take forever actually creating stuff-- but, like you said, nobody's going to clean shit up if they don't have to. This is the reason their sales always have pricing errors, their news feed either doesn't update or updates a week at a time and spoils the next week's dailies, and their customer service is practically nonexistent. Why would anyone want to do clerical work if they could make hats? (The fact that Valve has come out and said that the best way to get hired is to make hats indicates that this isn't going to change anytime soon.)

I don't think outsourcing CS is the solution, but what they need to do is change their structure from "flat, no bosses" to "flat, no bosses except in the CS/QA department, which has a management hierarchy so shit gets done." Or split Valve and Steam-- Valve-the-developer can stay flat and makes hats, and Steam-the-business can actually be managed.
And how is that "flexible" corporate structure working for Amazon.com then? Are they completely free from pricing type errors? For that matter, is any digital distribution service free from pricing errors? Has Amazon finally dealt with the basic problems of just their digital distribution service after 2+ years? No. They still have errors. They still can't offer a way to give their customers a way to define and track digital credit for games. Or even the ability to buy more than one digital product at a time. Changing basic corporate structure doesn't inherently fix all ills, and it certainly bodes well for the end user that Valve remains a private company and continues with its current basic form and intent. I think they would benefit from a small but still somewhat broader structured customer service, especially when combined with what seems to be their current focus on actively responding to public feedback which takes the form of widespread censure or support.

ah alright

I had played a bit of xenosaga 2 and I remember that one opening with robots fighting and all that crap so this slow start of talking with coworkers and examining androids and reading emails interwined with deadly premonition-esque cutscenes of a silly man acting silly because he's in love with you is all very unexciting :p

they're setting up a bunch of crap what with the little elly ghosts and scarred dude tho so I reckon the spaceship will blow up anytime soon and I'll get to have some fun

Ozgameshop is a fantastic place to shop at. That said, Viva Pinata might be unplayable in the near future due to GFWL.

It will be perfectly playable even if Microsoft doesn't touch it.

Don't remind me, that intro is so boring.

I thought it was at least for all of Europe? I mean, I'm Italian.

I've the same issue, but I think my problem is due to my playfire account being set to a different email address than my GMG account.

(I'm from the UK for reference, so it isn't a country issue for me at least)

I dunno, I saw my .50 disappeared that was credited for signing up for the newsletter and did some searching -- found a post saying the beta was UK (or EU) only and not US. But if uraizen and The Dear Leader are getting credits and they're in the US, it makes me wonder what the difference between their GMG/playfire accounts and mine is before I send hatemail to their support team...

URAIZEN, THE DEAR LEADER, ANY OTHER STEAMGAF MEMBER IN THE US THAT HAS GMG PLAYFIRE CREDITS WORKING:
Can you tell me if you have a valid US address on file with GMG?
I currently have my real address and wonder if that's what they're keying off of.

That's almost 1% (0.94% to be precise) backlog clearance! nicely done. Good to see other people actually play their backlogs instead of just moaning about its size, especially here on steamgaf :p

I have a lot more than that completed. I'm in bed right now and too lazy to go to my PC and check how many. I've started to play more games than buy them. I'm trying to get the easier ones out of the way first.

Whatever problems Amazon has, there being someone whose job is to respond to customer service inquiries is not one of them. I'm not arguing to change Valve's basic structure, just that it wouldn't be a bad thing if they hired someone and said "your job is customer service, please don't roll your desk over to the Ricochet 2 team and start designing hats."

Yeah, might be time for Valve to consider opening a wholly-owned subsidiary with a more conventional management structure to handle the grunt work while the guys at the skunkworks keep on doing what they do best.

This this a 1000 times this!

Unless it came out of beta, there's a portion of the FAQ that says it should be for UK people only. Did you spoof a UK address when you signed up for GMG?

I really don't think it is just for UK people. Some relevant portions from the initial post announcing the beta:

All of the Playfire Rewards Credit is provided in GBP (£), but everyone is eligible to try it out. Other currencies to come soon.
If your GMG account doesn't use GBP (£) then the Credit value will be converted to your used currency at the conversion rate for the day.

I haven't seen anything else about regional restrictions in any of the posts they've made. Also, I have over four bucks in GMG credit thanks to the Playfire Rewards stuff, and I'm in Canada.

wait, when/how did that happen?

Been happening constantly to people.

I believe it has something to do with cloud saves, but someone who owns more than one Uplay game can give you a better answer.
I learned my lesson the first time.

Always back up your saves when using uplay.

I'm more surprised by the fact that no one bothered to make changes to the department after seeing the condition it's in, or maybe someone did, it's just not noticeable. It feels weird to me because Valve don't strike me as a company that compromise things.

Yes I have a US address and a US credit card on file and it still works, are your Playfire and GMG emails the same, or are the accounts linked? It also took about 2 or 3 days for my first bit of credit to show up on GMG, but after that it's been a day or less before the credit appears.

I love the events in the aGoT mod for CKII

That one's pretty good. I also like one where you steal the necklace and plant it on one of your servants to improve your intrigue.

The event fires again twenty years later and your character is like "OH GOD I FORGOT ABOUT THE COOKS WIFE."

I think they're linked... I think it's just emptying my balance into space because my playfire and GMG emails are different.

I want to look for music games, I tried out audio surf and its a really fun game because I can play custom soundtracks on it. I want to know if there are any other music games that allows you to use custom soundtracks?

There is only one way to play Dishonered : Full on murder simulator

There is only one way to play Dishonored : Full of stealth simulator.

Well I decided to stick it out for one more level.

Glad I did.

I went from being on the border of quitting to loving this game! Not sure why it changed but I'm still playing stealthily and not killing anyone. It just clicked around the midway point of level 3.

Maybe I'll do a murder run the second time around.

...does anyone know how many high chaos levels until I get the bad ending?? I know I got it in the first level and killed like 3-4 in the second level and zero in the third. Am I screwed with the ending : /

Well besides the others already mentioned, Audiosurf 2 is in Early Access!

Wow, for the first time...ever... I actually got a coupon for an interesting game when crafting a badge. 50% off "140." Trailer looked interesting, picked it up, and I really dig it!

It's rather short, but it's a neat take on a "music platformer"

Other than Brothers and that one pack with Darksiders and some other games, there wasn't too many good deals from the Amazon $5 coupon.

yeah, Steam has really outgrown Valve. They just can't ignore it anymore, because "corporate culture". As a service provider it's in their best interest to provide good service for their customers. As someone said keep Valve as a flat organization and make a separate Steam entity with actual management.

that would be nice but I don't see Gabe ever going for it

Keep seeing these articles/opinions about how Valve sold out by removing the most unique feature of the SC, the touchscreen. What the hell? That was never the most unique thing about it (you want one, get a WiiU controller), it was the trackpads with haptics feedback. Valve couldn't be more clear about this. Ghosting made it redundant anyway, plus wouldn't work with VR. Why aren't people paying attention?
