So can we do that matching list/affinity thing like in GoTY thread? Or its too much hassle for nothing? This poll have much less audience for one.

I don't think it's possible without a script cause every user needs to be compared with every other user.

It's a 100+ episode series in its third year of running; AnimeGAF doesn't have too many people who follow shows for that long as compared to the general anime viewing population. Especially since there were a few people here (such as myself, actually) who dropped it after one or two episodes.
Its not like its declining in GAF AOTY, its shot up 9 spot from last year poll.

The Light of El Cantare
Filtered list is so much better if only for Kyousougiga making the top ten.

It feels weird having only three of the shows that I voted for in the overall top ten after two years of being fairly "in sync" with the results.

First half was pretty dull (repeating gags so close together, really?), but was pretty good after the wormhole. Still reserving judgement on the series.

List wars salt is the best kind of salt :p

Hope Jojo maintains the quality so people can brag about it placing in the top 10 three years running!

Honestly Phantom Blood didn't deserve to be on any Anime Top 10 list. Battle Tendency was good shit though so I'm optimistic for Stardust Crusaders.

OMG sdburton quote in the AOTY thread for attack on titans

A magnificent case of "PRIORITIES"

Yeah I noticed that too :p

Noragami - Episode 5

That scene before the opening played had surprising good animation for a simple sequence. It's clear a lot of extra effort went into it just to take advantage of a rare scene where they could animate a cute ayakashi. It was worth it though! <3

The rest of the episode was certainly interesting. The story is starting to get a bit more serious, while still having solid visual gags (Yato's face in the background when her parents got home totally killed me. I wasn't really expecting Yato's comments about how they can feel what their regalia feel to actually have a serious undertone to it. I'm starting to get a feeling that while Yato isn't a particularly serious guy most of the time, a lot of what he says indicates the dark side of the show's mythology. It'll be interesting to see where it develops from here.

It's pretty impressive how well the show handles balancing between comedy, drama, action, and horror. All of which are showcased in this episode. One of the stronger episodes so far.

Yamato had almost thirty more first-place votes than the next-highest title?

What the hell did you guys do to people? Where were they all hiding?

Faked dissociative identity disorder
was a good twist, though I'm wondering what this business with Cecil being at the center of some sort of prophecy is. Also, the thing with Cecil trying to save her mother is giving me some Aria the Scarlet Ammo vibes. That's really the only element, though, since everything else feels different. The comraderie between the ladies of the Butterfly office is enjoyable to watch, and this being a surprise mecha show I actually sorta like. Though no giant magic golem robot this week.

It could be interesting to see how the votes that got discounted due to lack of comments would have effected things, but eh, can't be arsed now.

Well I had an Akari avatar before I became part of AnimeGAF. When I first went into the IRC channel someone asked who I was and someone replied with something like 'the one with the Akari avatar'. Then I joked that I was literally Akari because I was always overlooked and then it just exploded from there.

Trying to find a pic where four of us had yuru yuri avatars but having no luck. :(

Regarding the AOTY thread the Akari trophy was perfect. If possible, I would vote for you to do the AOTY thread next year as well!

Maria OP is GOAT. Also love how Rec is throwing himself headlong into his rivalry with Hoshi.
Dat Miyakichi power.

Man, Yuyushiki is not even on AnimeGaf top 20.

Your powers as ring leader sucks duckroll.
Yuyushiki was my #2 on the AOTY list I made but decided not to post.

Lemon Angel Project
Not As Lewd As It Sounds
The old Lemon Angel anime thinks otherwise!

The Light of El Cantare
So is everything after the Kyoto arc in Rurouni Kenshin filler?

Edit: yup

Some of the arcs are still pretty entertaining even if nothing comes close to the Kyoto or Oniwabanshu stories again so I'd recommend judging them individually.

Without a major dive in quality, Space Dandy is probably gonna sweep the AOTY votes for this year. Unless of course most of the people that watch the show don't bother voting in the thread.

Space Dandy has viewer penetration thanks to Toonami, but I don't think it has enough people passionately supportive of it to get it to the top of AOTY 2014, at least not so far.

The one thing I'm most surprised about is the presence of Hataraku Maou-sama in both lists. Was that actually good? All I ever heard in reference to it was ChihoEmiChihoEmiChihoEmiChihoEmiChihoEmiChihoEmiChihoEmi so I assumed it was just, y'know, one of those shows.

Yes. It's an amusing fish out of water story that, while sometimes falling back on certain tropes, has an alright reason for them. It does subvert a lot of stuff in a likable way, and as far as stuff based on LNs go, I'd call it top tier easily.

It's going to come in second just behind Gun Gale Online.

I dunno, if girl Kirito looks convincing and he continues to be swarmed by the ladies in-game, I may give in to this fake garden and give it my vote. #noshame

The eraser of dreams!

Uzawa's an ass still.

Kinda surprising that they adapted chapter 36 of the manga. I guess they aren't doing it in order anymore.

That's what we thought about Kill la Kill too, and I think it outperformed expectations. Dandy has another advantage too - it's going to air across two non-consecutive seasons. So by the time it ends it'll be October - just 3 months before the voting starts. As a big show which aired at the start of the year and ended near the end of the year, and having more exposure than the usual show, unless the rest of the series totally tanks, I think it'll be a pretty major contender.

Yuyushiki's well-produced, but ultimately a forgettable show, at least for me. The characters didn't have enough personality to stand out.

I feel that characters with personality is not the point of Yuyushiki, so I understand your point.

It´s still 20 something so that's not bad, I think it´s well appreciated. I actually wish Love Lab had been higher in the top 20 more than Yuyushiki being in top 20.

Gundam Build have the best selected quote in AOTY thread, very apt too.

For 2014 vote, Mushi-shi, FSN, and Jojo gonna be in top three, 2012 repeat!

In AnimeGAF's haste to crown Yamato 2199 and block AoT they let Kill la Kill slip through the cracks and claim its rightful place at number 2! Brandy am cry, lolz

(Just kidding Brandy! But I'm actually A-okay with this list outside of Love Lab being approximately 15 spots too low)

Sounds like I might have to give it a try. Now I really want to know if I'll see the same things in it that the people who voted for it do.

I dunno, if girl Kirito looks convincing and he continues to be swarmed by the ladies in-game, I may give in to this fake garden and give it my vote. #noshame

Can someone confirm/deny if there's yuri/"yuri" in GGO?

Oh God, so many people trying their damnedest to distract Shio from her one true love Asao-san. It's kind of a pity Newton isn't remotely attractive, since her...interesting habit...would be pretty amazing coming from a cute girl, but coming from her I just have the same reaction as the characters involved, namely "aaaaaaghhh get away".

I hope Shio gets to see Asao-san again soon.

Maybe but its blowing everything else out of the water so far for 2014. Still 11 months left in the year though :)

Ah so is that how Dandy is airing over the year? I've heard so many conflicting things about episode count, etc. I wasn't sure what was going on. Do you have a source perchance?

I'm glad they are finally elaborated on the origins of the Life Fibers. I have to say that their take on it is very similar to the spirals of GL. I don't know if it's intentional but I found it interesting nonetheless.
That Satsuki -service... :O It was pretty nice to see how different she is when her mother is around, it's a nice contrast to how she usually acts. Mako still delivering xD
