2.30 PS3 firmware is out now

I like the new design very much. I'm from PAL land and everything is very responsive. I just clicked every tab and let everything load and there are no pictures missing or something. I also like the sound when you start up the PS Store. My opinion is that this store is way better than the previous one and this version, unlike the last one, can really compete with XBL now, it's even better IMO.
 
It is an improvement, but the unintuitive way of getting around the screen, and the messy segments, it still seems like it is a web browser front end that isn't necessary. and it is sl-oow. I also would like it if they separated the demos from the games. Its better but this is like a strong punch to the jaw rather than the kick in the nuts that was the old store in comparison to xbl :lol

why can I still not log into the forums?
 
Just got the update here (live in England, US machine), and the UK Store is rapid, and very slick. There are quite a few missing pictures on certain items, like selecting through all of the themes, or videos etc. I guess these little glitches will get fixed over the next day or so.

Took me a while to get used to losing L1/R1 and using CIRCLE to go back, but got there in the end! Overall, I like it. A lot. Now we just need wipEout" HD :)
 
I like it (PAL machine in the UK here).

The pictures took forever to load when I first loaded the store, but other than that it is extremely slick and easy to navigate. I like how the download list is now on one continuous page which you can scroll down rather than separate pages like on the old store.

To then view a trailer for it, I have to go all the way back to the main menu, then Videos -> Game Trailers -> Driving/Racing -> PixelJunk Monsters. The US store lets you view all content for a title at once, why not the Euro store?

It looks like SCEE goes out of their way to make sure EU users are screwed over...
 
So uh... I can't update my PS3 right now. But how is it? Is it smooth? Is it good?

The fact that this feature is lacking on my HDTV angers me so much I want to hit somebody!

100% scee screwed up again, i mean - no demo section, but instead family-games? WTF?
 
Overall the store is a vast improvement and MUCH slicker. But it really needs some kind of progress indicator over icons while they are loading. Icons are taking too long to load and you just see blank space with no indication something is loading.

I also wish the firmware would let me default to download in the background instead of asking me each time. This is not new to this store, but it's a constant annoyance.

The store also needs to let the user see the background download progress or see it from the XMB by hitting Home (just as you can do in movies) so you can monitor download status without leaving the store.

I mean the pictures and icons take ages to load. Really, really fucking slow.

I hope it's just for the inital start and it caches all of the icons and doesn't reload everytime you enter the store :(.

Yeah, the interface is nice and snappy but the actual icons loading in reminds me of web surfing back in the days of 56k modems.
I guess (hope) it's just because the servers are being hammered right now. If it was like this all the time then it would be dissapointing.

Aprt from some silly layout issues that Tntnnbltn pointed out earlier, it's a nice improvement. I'm using the AUS/EU store btw.

In Grace Chens store walkthrough she shows how to list titles by alphabetical order, and there is also a PS1 Classics icon to sort by, you get all content for a title at once etc., is this not implemented in the EU store!? W H Y are there different stores to begin with? I totally don't get why we don't get the same releases at the same time, and now also different navigation layouts!? SCEE: ON THE DOUBLE PLEASE!

That's right -- it's not.

We also had different navigation layouts before the store update if memory serves me correctly. I don't think PAL ever had the option of sorting by title.
