2 days to Vegas ... next gen shots!

if it was in-game = impressive
the fact that they are maya renders = not impressive

3D artists have been doing this type of stuff for a long time.

The graphics are great, the humans look a little bit iffy but the rest looks very nice. They should add filters to make i look more life like, as of right now the scrrens look a little bit too plasticky.

Yeah sure, as if this would be possible where we already get faked shots from developers this gen.

Fredi
Well in this case not even developers themselves are claiming these are nextgen ingame shots, or maybe I'm overlooking something.

I think some of you are going to be seriously disappointed next gen.

all of this is maya rendered stuff. none of this is in-engine. I doubt they even have an engine yet.

no name developer looking for interest. vaporware alert.
Probably...

Oh well I guess Next Gen can't be all perfect.
The Graffiti is floating over the damn bricks on the wall
and every car has new car shine in the middle of a city. I would like to see some dirty cars :)

This looks amazing. If you're not impressed by this I dare say you will never be impressed.

This is the quality you should aim for next-gen graphics. Some people don't realise it but in this pic it's CG-quality. Hold yer horses because you're going to be deceived next gen if you think this pic isn't great. It's not even all games that may look that good at first. If you're not drooling over imagining everything in this screenshot moving at 60 fps before your eyes then you're high on drugs or completely blind or something.

For emphasis. If you're not impressed by these shots, you're not understanding what you're looking at.

Why are they "Maya" renders.
they are renders from some 3D app and not from within an engine. many of the effects that are being done in some of these screens aren't being done by the BEST developers in the world yet, so why would some small company that we have never heard of and has no previous track record be able too?

Damn, you people are blind. Those pics look GREAT. Too bad they probably aren't real.

I'm beginning to think I should avoid this place come E3. Or maybe everyone will be satisfied when they see that even PS3 has trouble pulling off stuff like that.

You know it's a sad state of affairs when so many people claim newly released game pics aren't impressive only to find out they are renders not long after.

:lol

Pure ownage

Anyone who wouldn't be happy with graphics like that in a first generation GTA clone is going to be horribly disappointed next generation.

You know, there's a lot of real people that look much worse than that ;)

agent orange babies dont count.

edit: the fact that they are renders makes them even MORE meh. this is like 1998 caliber cg here dudes.

:lol Anyone else remember when sasuke was claiming that the early Gamecube Rogue Leader shots were really paintings?

I don't care how they were rendered. Aside from reflections Far Cry and Half Life 2 look better right now in real time. They have far greater draw distances and resolution.

I can't believe some of you guys. SERIOUSLY just stay out of next gen and keep playing your PS2s.

Seriously...

No, I think you need to keep playing your PS2. PS3 will smoke this shit out of the water. PCs can already do this. There are already existing engines now that outdo this stuff.

PC games from 2004:

Half Life 2:

I think that it just goes to show, that when someone jokingly posts an actual photograph and says "not impressed," and people think it's an in-game shot and he's serious...we've come a fucking long way.

I think you need to go back and read Oxygens post, one second I'll post it for you, it pretty much sums up everything.

The fact that they're renders makes it less impressive. Ownage would be someone posting a video of it running in real time. Somebody could pictures of CGI from Pixar's next movie, that doesn't mean it's impressive in terms of real-time console graphics when it's not real-time console graphics.

Yea I agree, those who knew they were renders and realize next gen renders will look better have a point, but I was reffering to the posts where they had no clue they were renders yet, still thinking they were in game shots.

That's why I typed my entire sentence, and not just the part you quoted :wink

Yes, I can see the reflections, and the lighting is definitely good. But I still think Half Life 2 and Far Cry Look better than this overall. Hence, why I don't care if they are renders because even if I were to give it the benefit of a doubt that it wasn't, PC games last year outdo it and I expect much more out of next gen consoles.

There have been some small developers in the past who have done some pretty impressive work.

Don't undersetimate their capabilities.

I am sure they are not as good as you are but hey.
