Vard said:My purchases will likely include:
Wario Ware Smooth Moves (for crazy multiplayer)
Wii Play (mainly for Wii Remote)
Bust-A-Move Bash! (budget price and multiplayer fun)
Mario Party 8 (multiplayer)
Super Mario Galaxy (for obvious reasons)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl (multiplayer fun preferably with items, thanks)
Super Paper Mario (if it comes out)
No More Heroes (Suda51 will make this his best game yet)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers (multiplayer with friends; liked the original)
I'll probably have to trim that list down a little bit.

"Its a whole new gameplay experience"
Yeah. whatever.

the third party developed stuff is uninteresting imo
Mario will probably give the system a boost, as NSMB did for DS.Eteric Rice said:One thing that I find interesting is that Nintendo didn't kick off with a Mario game, but instead opted for a more mature title (Zelda).
In fact, it seems we won't see a Mario game until the end of the year.
Nintendo am trying to kill "kiddie" image?

welcome to the post launch drought. this must be a new experience for many of our european cousins (the ones that didn't get a 360 that is).Tyrone Slothrop said:i have a feeling i'm going to be really let down with my wii the next 6-8 months. i sort of feel like i came to party that was pumped up to be amazing and then you get there and its kind of lame.
While true, it's still notable that launch had basically no games even featuring Mario or related characters (unless you count VC downloads)... that's never happened for a Nintendo platform before. Even platforms without an offical "Super Mario" got franchise related stand-ins like Wario Land 2 or Luigi's Mansion.dark10x said:Are you serious?
The release of Zelda at launch has nothing to do with killing an image (the image they are aiming for with Wii doesn't even really fit in with Zelda). It just so happens that the completion of the game coincided with the Wii launch (that is, the completion of the game was close enough to the launch of Wii that it made sense to release it on that platform). Mario's new game simply isn't as far along. Both are iconic Nintendo franchises that would appear regardless.

What. Seriously. What.
Yes, but I do not believe for a second that it was part of a strategy. If a Mario title had been ready for release, I'm sure they would have released it on or near launch. Mario is still a HUGE draw and they know this (look at sales of NSMB).jarrod said:While true, it's still notable that launch had basically no games even featuring Mario or related characters (unless you count VC downloads)... that's never happened for a Nintendo platform before. SFC and N64 were both delayed to coincide with their Mario releases, so it's not like Nintendo couldn't have done the same for Wii either really...

Does Nintendo want to lose?
Squeak said:But there is no Wii Nintendogs in the works and even if they announce it soon it will not release until next fall at the earliest. And and the other great casual "nongame" animal crossing is not out until then either.
But those games weren't big franchises before the DS exploded. Nintendo doesn't need sequels to these games at the moment, they have other things for this year like Wii motorsports and Wii music, and why not that scubadiving thing.Squeak said:But there is no Wii Nintendogs in the works and even if they announce it soon it will not release until next fall at the earliest. Since when is a AA title a let down? When the **** did game scoring get so screwed up?Squeak said:So basically no AAA titles until fall/next winter, with only two or three worthwhile AA titles in the meantime?!

Sure... but since Zelda was ready anyway, they probably decided not to delay (a la SFC/N64) or rush a quickie Mario stand in or port (a la GBC/GBA/GC/DS). We could've gotten something along the lines of Luigi's Mansion 2 or Sunshine DX rather easily... but they consciously went with Zelda instead.dark10x said:Yes, but I do not believe for a second that it was part of a strategy.
