Team GB did amazingly well, above expectations really, which is part of the story. USA pretty much did what everyone expected, nothing surprising, but that means they are on top by quite a margin. The decline of China might be more interesting as a story if it reflect a changing attitude and approach to sports.

It's been a great games though, a lot of great moments and story. I found the whole Lochte thing hilarious. Rio did well. Probably not worth the expense, but not a disaster by any means.

The Paralympics on the other hand... Can't believe they would fail it so badly.

Australia looked good in these games. Not medaling is disappointment but they played poorly as of late. That said they got Simmons, Exum, and Thon Maker. 2020 will be interesting.

We didn't have as many posts for the Rio olympics as we did for London. I wonder if it is because GB people didn't start posting constantly until later or if it was just less interesting to most people. Seems like a pretty successful olympics. I can't think of anything they did wrong.

Interesting events and finals were at 3-4-5am for most european countries

Serbia what happened to you?

It's not what happened to Serbia, it's what happened to the US. When they play like this, they beat any team in the world by 20+ points.

Time to put in Barnes for the ultimate sign of disrespect.

Barnes in.

Ultimate disrespect mode initiated.

Coach K deserves an unsportsmanlike T for putting in Barnes.

Barnes trying for three needs an unsportsmanlike foul.

I laugh because it's true lol

Oh. I get it why UK isn't better at Winter games but that directly leads to having extra funding and talent for summer sports compared to many other countries where winter sports are also popular.

Like I said the winter games doesn't capture the public imagination like the summer games, there is literally little to no interest in it. The summer Olympics dominates the news cycle - pun not intended, whereas the winter games barely get a mention.

20 years ago we got ONE gold medal, this year we got nearly 30, if the public starts to pay attention to the winter sports, trust me we would git gud.

On top of that, winter sports are restrictive seasonally, whereas most summer sports are more accessible and can be played all year round.

The time zone just make it difficult for most guys not in the American continents. The most popular events are often 2 to 3am for those in Europe and in the morning for those in Asia. GMT time zone was decent to most people.

Woooooooo USA

Watching this basketball final makes me feel better about competition in ice hockey. At least while Canada is always the favorite you have several nations that can win the tournaments.
It's even more lopsided than it seems. The Team USA players that opted out of the Olympics due to all those controversy could probably beat the team USA that won the gold medal
