What did you expect them to do with it? They couldn't publish it or get it promoted because a lot of the content was using assets and materials from other games. specifically from SNK fighters and action games.
It was a great game, and my personal favorite SOR title, but there wasn't much they could do with it.
...multiplatform ?
Wii + WiiU eshop?
M2 did Sega Ages, Sega Vintage Collection, Virtual Console, even with some of these same games. Stop making yourself frustrated and go buy thrm.I agree. Honestly, all this stuff should be coming out to everything. M2 have clearly got some great tools to make games work across a huge amount of platforms - for them to only be on a 3DS is kind of frustrating.
Wow day zero on this if it hits NA

So this is for the 3DS??
Considering the title of the game and M2's involvement, one would assume so.
SOR2>1 IMO after doing both recently on their hardest settings. While I won't argue with the music as both are great at it(though I preferred 2's a bit more), 2 has a better combat system, removing police cars mean each character had their own special moves, varied characters to play as when it comes to speed, power and balance, less exploitable with the single tap punch that can be used on nearly all enemies and bosses in 1, less glitchy, less cheap bullshit like enemies that can kill you instantly(I even have that recorded in my playthrough), most bosses at least had more patterns and more attacks instead of the usual same ones in 1(seriously, most bosses only have one freaking attack and pattern), better graphics obviously, less slowdown, Mania for that extra challenge, and more.Meh....
Streets of Rage 1 was my favorite one!
Funny that it's probably the greatest beat-em-up ever and one of my most played games and yet I'm kind of shrugging off this news. Not exactly a rare thing to play.
The extra modes on the MegaDrive games tend to be pretty basic though, probably because they're really just romhacks. SOR1 only added a 1 hit mode iirc. The 3D Classics have started adding new/alternate modes with new mechanics, so even if you ignore the 3D it probably won't be just another re-release.
The Classification Board has just classified a game title 3D Streets Of Rage 2′. Is it a new game? A 3DS game? A remake of the original for digital distribution? We have no idea at this stage, but have reached out to SEGAs local representatives in an attempt to find out.
Most likely its a version of the original Streets of Rage 2. The reasoning for that is fairly simple: games usually go in for classification pretty close to the games release and theres no way SEGA would quietly release a brand new Streets of Rage game. My guess is that itll be a version of the game released on the 3DS as opposed to a remake or a reworked version of the SEGA Mega Drive original, which is a little less exciting but far more likely given the circumstances.
Either way its good news. Streets Of Rage 2 is probably the best scrolling beat em up game ever made, so Im fairly keen to play it again on a handheld. Feels like a good place for it.
Well update once we hear from SEGA.
...multiplatform ?
yoooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I hope M2 is still doing projects this slick years down the line.
Then again, there were the rumblings about more original games from them soooo
Crazy idea: M2 should port these 3D Classics to VR devices (Morpheus and Oculus in particular). There wouldn't be any way to look around in first-person, but full screen-size immersion with 3D on top? I'd play OutRun that way and take my damn sweet time. Would also be marketable across PC and console platforms, perhaps with added options for multiplayer cross-platform.I agree. Honestly, all this stuff should be coming out to everything. M2 have clearly got some great tools to make games work across a huge amount of platforms - for them to only be on a 3DS is kind of frustrating.
Wait, I thought liking Enchanted Castle was only something I did.3D Alex Kidd
In all seriousness, I enjoyed my run of Enchanted Castle, though Miracle World is the better game. We oughta get 3D Miracle World and maybe another Master System or Game Gear title, but it's Okunari's call based on sales (of the physical compilation as well).I can only assume he means Miracle World, aka the one that's actually fun.
M2 is godly, but it'll take a while to analyze the System 32 architecture before confidently remaking OutRunners by-eye...in 3D.3D Outrunners
I would buy a 3D Outrunners so fucking hard, eshop would explode.

Really hope this'll mean a Wave 3, we should all spam M2's twitter with this game so it becomes a part of it

- Toe Jam & Earl Duology comes to XBLA, not PSN.
- The Original Castle of Illusion M2 port gets released alongside the new remake... but only on PSN.
I mean at this point Sega has not commited ANYTHING to the Xbox One or PS4 regarding their massive, classic back catalog,
