$99 New 3DS Black Friday Deal

All I want to play is A Link Between Worlds, Super Mario 3DLand and maybe a few other titles.

Wonder if a 2DS would suffice.

Sorry and I hope it doesn't take thread too far off topic - but for a almost 6 year old, you guys think I should go 2DS instead of the 3DS?

There's also the second circle stick thingy for control.

Also there is a performance improvement in the home menu, bootup, browser, eShop, etc.

And if you hack it you can force improved performance in most games.

I haven't heard that last one yet. Can you explain?

I managed to get a unit earlier by walking into a Target and I'm thinking of returning it. I'd played with some XL's before at gamestop and you can't really get a feel for how comfortable a unit is until you play with it naturally. With that in mind, I wasn't too thrilled with the N3DS and I'm thinking of returning it. (Improved 3D wasn't really that improved, and the menu wasn't really *that* faster. Plus, the nub doesn't work well for MGS3 at all. My Circle Pad Pro worked much better. Not only is it more comfortable, but the camera is less floaty with the CPP.) Also, for the curious, the top screen is definitely a TN, which is perhaps why the 3D isn't too much improved. On the otherhand, the stylus for the N3DS is ridiculously bad. It's "How did anyone think this was a good idea" bad. It's like a toothpick! So, baring ordering those retractables on ebay....eh.

Anyways, I'm interested in hearing how you can force better performance on the N3DS. MGS3 could really benefit from that if it works.

well my amazon order updated from Arriving Tuesday to Arriving Sunday. Of course, we all know

not that it would matter much, because the charge cable doesn't arrive til Wednesday

I heard that thing was created thanks to a extra influx of Nintendium discovered recently.
I would go with that route, specially because its toy design and its durability.

There are delivery services on Sunday (at minimal in select cities). Amazon even teamed up with the USPS to deliver on Sundays.

I got one of these from Amazon but decided to cancel it. Then I got an email saying they screwed up the price but they'll honor the posted price.

Will I be getting one of these even tho I cancelled it?

My card was charged yesterday, though they still haven't shipped it out yet & it's Friday now.

Really? Please do tell us, Naked Snake.

MGS3 on the 3DS is very well know for it's frame rate issues. There are places and scenes where it can fall into the single digits. If there is one game that could benefit from some sort of performance boost, it's this one.

Basically when you hack a New 3DS you can set an option in the custom firmware to force all titles to run at CPU's maximum speed of 800MHz, which reportedly improves framerates in a lot of games (it does cause issues in a few though, but you can disable the option before playing one of those). I hear it does make a good difference in MGS3. I haven't tested it myself yet. If you follow Plailect's Guide (which is the most used and recommended one for hacking the 3DS) then the above mentioned option is turned on by default as part of the process.

And yes the nub on the New 3DS kinda sucks. I liked the CCP a lot more.

Is the charge cable the same one as the old 3ds? I have an extra cable for my 3ds XL

What are the best genuinely good multiplayer games? Not kind of fun, but like, a grand riot.

How's that DBZ fighting game? It's 20 bucks.
Also, I know it's older, but is Resident Evil 5 Mercenaries good for multiplayer?

Also, is the new Mario party a bomb or a gas?

I know there's smash, but I'm not really feelin the 3ds one, already played a bunch of it when I had my older 3ds a while back.

Just pasting a list I have pre-saved:

Luigi's Mansion 2 - has download play, so only one copy required
Mario Kart 7 lets you play on the same team against AI, also has download play (though restricts characters unless you both have carts)
New Super Mario Bros 2
Resident Evil Revelations has 'raid mode'
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
Monster Hunter
Zelda Triforce Heroes
Smash
Resident Evil Mercenaries
Star Fox 64
Street Fighter IV
Streets of Rage
Metroid Prime Federation
Terraria
Altered Beast

Called 5 different gamestops around 8 am in NYC. All of them sold out within 10 mins to a half hour. Quantity was very low. I just don't get Nintendo.

Something tells me if Nintendo wasn't known for doing this and these were well-stocked everywhere, this thread would be a fraction of the pages it is now and a ton of you wouldn't even be considering buying one, because there is no rush.

Nintendo played us like a fiddle.

No luck online yesterday and don't go to door busting stuff...called a nearby GameStop at 9:45 AM with the off chance they had some not expecting anything whatsoever...they had 1 left! Never got my kids dressed and out of the house so fast (2 and 5 mind you) and got there at maybe 10:15. Luckily the one remaining was still there and it was the black version to boot. Consider myself super lucky, thank you BF gods! Never owned any DS ever, so lots of stuff to consider!

Man you got lucky! Congrats!

I have two black models available at cost if anyone needs them. Ended up managing to obtain 5 of them, and already sold two to GAF members. Just PM if you want one!

you are awesome for this

make sure you and your sellers log yourselves in the B/S/T community thread/Feedback thread if you want to build some good seller/buyer credit here on gaf

First the NES Classic, now the N3DS.................. Just imagine the absolute hell that is going to be to get a Nintendo Switch. I'm literally shaking already over how difficult it is going to be.

Amazon has a Sandisk 128GB for $30... best price I saw so far. Edit: they also have the Samsung Evo Select for the same price, which might be slightly faster than the Sandisk one. I got this one recently.
Thanks for the heads up I ended up ordering the MicroSD below since was $13 with no taxes for me. I usually swear by Sandisk though. I may very well end up ordering a Samusung 128GB for my phone. I was too stingy to get an SD card for my original 3DS and somehow made it work with the default 4GB SD card for 2.5 years. The digital games and demos add up though!
Reposting my post from a few pages ago:

If you guys bought the 3DS and need a bigger micro SD card, Newegg had a sale right now.

64GB card by G-Skill for $16.99, and you can save $4 with promo code ESCFFGJ234, bringing it down to $12.99.

32GB for $9.99, and $2 off with promo code ESCFFGJ233

Thanks for sharing this! I ordered one.

You should have lined up at a Target last night. The nearest Target near me is the one on 225th in The Bronx. They had plenty to go around by the time I got mines. Good luck on your hunt man! By the way, off-topic but if any NYC peeps want to come shoot the breeze, feel free to pop into this thread.

Was it the GameStop near Simpson/3rd ave? I called both around 8 am and they said they didn't have it.

I took advantage of that 50% extra trade credit Gamestop had earlier in the week and was looking to purchase one there since I had around $300 in store credit.

I went to gamestop in manhatten at 4:30 am 15 people in line infront of me. We went in and everyone one wanted a 3ds exept for 2. I went to the register and got one. I stayed in the store looking around. After everyone left the store i went to the register and asked if the 3ds was one per customer they said no u can get an extra one if u want so i got an extra black one for a friend.

Lucky day for me

Amazon delivers on Sunday in the US if you have prime/pay the extra. USPS handles it.

So I'm about to be an owner of a 3ds for the very first time, are there any not immediately obvious hidden gems for the system?

I'm definitely getting all the zeldas and the pokemans, but I have a feeling there's a lot of low key games on the system that don't get very much attention.

DBZ is okay. I'd give Smash another shot though, there's been some balance updates that make it a lot better.

If I wasn't sleepy and in bed now I would have compiled you a list. Are you only into physical releases or digital downloads too?
