FFVII was dark, but it had many moments of levity. For this remake to be authentic it needs those elements of silliness in order to maintain the proper pacing of the storytelling.
If that's 'anime' then they need it.

I don't... I don't buy it. The existence of the port makes no sense to me in context of the remake incoming. Who's the target audience? People who want to play both side by side?
What DOES make sense to me is that the port completely failing to evoke a reaction finally drove home that FF7 was becoming irrelevant, and they pressed the Big Red Button, after the port's announcement.
That would be just about enough time to whip up a cool cinematic trailer, I would think. Look forward to that 2019 release date, if we're lucky.

I was gonna say, Lightning is basically female Cloud lol. Man, this remake is gonna push my nostalgia into overdrive. FFVII overworld/Intro/Bomb Mission/Aeris' theme. So good.

A lot of people. Every month FF7 on the PSone is still on the best selling PSone/PS2 classics, and that's with the knowledge that the PS4 port was coming along. People just want FF7 and they'll keep buying it no matter if it's on the PS3 or PS4.

That was literally the design intention as she was conceived.
If anything XIV is the blandest Final Fantasy game in the entire series in terms of game play. XIII must just have it beat though.

For those who didn't know that scene where Cloud and Tifa are talking by the crater was supposed to be a sexy-time kind of thing but the creators excluded it for reasons I forget.

Yeah, totally makes sense that a remake that people have been requesting for like a decade was spurred on by, like, the 5th port of the game to another console.
That makes 100%, absolute sense.
It's not like there wasn't demand there before the port was announced.

As cool as this is, I want new FFs. I will buy this day 1 but still I am still looking much more forward to XV and whenever XVI is announced than this. I want the new titles but this is really cool and hell yeah I will play it, but as much as I get the hype I really just want to see NEW mainline FFs.

So this definitely sounds like it's gonna be console exclusive to PS4 and possibly ported to PC later on. Knowing that the crazier elements are still in is amazing and that the original developers are passionate enough to still want to work on this is even better. This should be a real treat to play.
I was really hoping they'd trim or alter that goofy shit. I didn't even like it when the game was new. As I said in the other thread, I think a re-imagining more fits with what I want now and I've been wanting this since I saw FF8. I guess we'll see what happens when stuff from the actual game pokes its head out.
