The desire is identical, and the incredible is only slightly better (and in most cases people wont care).aoi tsuki said:And the Incredible is a better phone, as is the Desire. If i'm spending $500+ on a phone, i'm getting what i want. i'd take a T-Mobile version of either of them and run it on AT&T EDGE over buying the AT&T N1.

basic_element said:Like I said over in the Iphone 4G thread (This one is more appropriate), the biggest difference between the Nexus One and the Incredible is the touchscreen sensor.
The incredible uses the Atmel mXT224 while the N1 uses the Clearpad 2000. This is the cause of the multitouch bug and non-responsive (having to press the upper half) capacitive buttons. To me this is a deal breaker as the touchscreen is your input device to interact with your phone.
Now I don't know how much these bugs hinder the N1, but if I was going to buy a new phone, I wouldn't want to have any problems with the touch screen. Just wanted to put this out there for people deciding what to buy because I keep on seeing posts saying the N1/Desire/Incredible are identical. Hopefully when the N1 is released on Verizon, HTC will also update the sensor in that phone too.

Kinda odd...the story goes no carrier was interested in it enough...so they all agreed to take it...not sure how that makes sense, but sure.
I like it's speed and screen but it's a Samsung and it's got that Touchwiz crap, now with 100% more iPhone imitation, so I am disappoint.
As a day one n1 owner I would simply answer with "rarely in real world applications if at all."basic_element said:Like I said over in the Iphone 4G thread (This one is more appropriate), the biggest difference between the Nexus One and the Incredible is the touchscreen sensor.

Flying under the radar for the most part, there is an apparent flaw with Android that wasn't picked up by many users. One user who owned a Google Nexus One had a problem trying to format a 32GB microSD card so he could use it with his phone. Unfortunately Android doesn't like to play nice with cards at that capacity and is unable to format the higher-capacity memory card which are listed as being compatible with a handful of devices running the platform. Google didn't beat around the bush and clearly confirmed that it was a problem. With the expensive cost of purchasing a 32GB microSD card, there are probably plenty of owners who resort to something much smaller so the problem probably didn't affect a large amount of users. Luckily though, Google has already corrected the flaw that affects all Android phones and will shortly release the update for it. A Google representative said, This issue has been fixed, and will be part of our next over-the-air update. We don't have a specific timeframe to share at this time.

If this thing had a better processor and higher resolution screen, I'd be all over it. Still, beats the pants off my G1 in everything but the keyboard: G1 has a 5 row, this is 4 (no dedicated number row); although not having a chin allows the Slide to have bigger buttons.A 600 MHz ARM11 processor
512MB RAM, 512MB on-board storage
A 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash
An 8GB MicroSD card included in the box
Android 2.1 with HTCs Sense UI and multi-touch support
But it's so prettyiapetus said:It also drains battery life. So don't use it.![]()
I have it on T Mo. I pay $6 a month. For me it was worth it, I suppose, because my screen cracked. I had to pay a $130 deductable, which was better than paying full price (like $300 or something). The insurance provider was a lot more helpfull then I'd anticipated, they shipped the new phone overnight the next day, came with a new charger and wired earpiece.Fatalah said:Anyone buy monthly insurance on their phone? I'd wager it's only going to be a yearly model update, so we won't see it until the end of the year, like the first one.El Papa said:Not that I'm holding my breath for the next Nexus, but I would expect at least an announcement sometime this year.
If you could get someone to donate you a Google Voice invite, you could use that for voicemail. The Android GV app has visual voicemail, message transcription, and SMS, so you wouldn't have to pay for text messaging either.Trojita said:Thinking about getting the Incredible. It would be my first smart phone. My current phone is a Samsung Flipshot. Right now I'm still on my parents really old verizon plan so I would be paying the difference to get data and text on the device, so the device would end up costing me $35 a month in subscription fees to my parents.
Problem is my Dad doesn't know why I need a phone like this. I have an ipod touch but I can't use that as a phone and only get data through a wifi signal. The thing is that I have a job where we can't bring any cell phones in the complex so I wouldn't be able to use the phone during the weekdays for 8 hours.
How is the voice mail on these devices? I don't want to pay for visual voice mail a month but the standard voice mail setup verizon has just pisses me off. Is it any different on this device?

Some people on the androidforums.com placed their orders over the phone and their orders shipped out yesterday and they received them today.prodystopian said:Where/how?

Technically that is for Europe, though I doubt US models would get the update before European ones, you never know.sionyboy said:June..... although given the number of delays I wouldn't hold my breath

Anyone who'd pre-ordered the Incredible received it yet?

This is where having a Nexus One is a plus...no waiting for your carrier to update your phone.
Dynamic3 said:I believe to address that issue specifically, Google will be releasing (all) portions of their updates for download in the Android market starting with 2.2.

Anyone in the UK got Google Earth Navigation though? When I go to the store I don't see a newer version of Google Earth?!
It's a great phone, one of the top smartphones available right now. The only caveat with most high-end phones nowadays is you will have to get used to charging it more often (possibly every night depending on how much you use it).scotcheggz said:Hey guys, I'm coming up for an upgrade to my current phone in the next week or so and when my operating company called me today they were banging on about giving me a HTC Desire. I did a bit of googling and found out it is an android pone and seems to have good review, but I don't really know much about phones, what is that all about? I've never had one of these smart phones before and I've honestly got no idea what they're about. My only experience with somehting like this is a quick fiddle with an iPhone.
Is the Desire considered a good phone? Will it be a solid choice for an 18 month contract? Can you get apps or whatever easily like the iPhone? I mean, I don't really now about those either, but if my sisters boyfriend can get apps on an iPhone it must be easy. Do android phones have a similar deal? Sorry for the really lame questions, but last time I took the phone the guy was pushing on me, no questions and it was a horrible piece of crap.
