Yeah I have the same issue.Dr Zhivago said:I've got an issue with the default Froyo browser on my HTC Desire. Whenever I go to a page on the BBC site with any embedded video content, it crashes back to the desktop. I'm guessing it's something to do with Flash, any ideas?

AlphaSnake said:Hey gang. New Android owner here, just bought a Captivate. Got rid of my iPhone 3GS and couldn't be happier so far. Still love my iMac, but Apple's limitations and restrictions on a mobile device was overkill.
Anyways, school me on some apps. What are some great additions to the phone that no one should be without?

Edited out great suggestions.
AlphaSnake said:Awesome thank you. I went to the Market and just started scrolling. Next thing I know, 30 apps installed. Virtually everything I had on my iPhone I have here now. Now, does the market also have those awesome themes and widgets? I can't sideload until I root, so throw a few names for me to search through.

Unknown Soldier said:There are like 5 music players that people say are good and none of them have all the features the basic iTunes built into the iPhone has. Goddammit. I've more or less given up on bTunes because it crashes so much, even though it has a sweet lock screen overlay and it looks exactly like iTunes. I've been screwing around with the stock player + Music Mod but why doesn't that include a lock screen widget or overlay? This shit should be FUNDAMENTAL Google, your stock music player should fucking show the picture of the album with some information like the song playing, album, and artist, and some basic fucking controls like pause and forward/back on the lock screen while playing, this should have been included in Android 1.0!

I downloaded the link from Droid-life.com and it installed fine not sure what the differences are between the two files.womp said:I download the direct link from XDA and it is saying the software is incompatible.
Any idea? I've never gotten that before on either of my Droids.

I haven't had that issue with Trillian (yet!) but I'm just more familiar with Trillian so I'm sticking with that for now :-Dbeje said:And eBuddy works waaaaaaay better than Trillian. Well, at least it doesn't disconnect for no apparent reason every 5 minutes.

The iPhone apps are written in Objective C, while Android apps are in Java. They'd probably either have to dive into Java and the whole Android framework first or hire someone to do it for them, so I think it's kind of understandable.jedimike said:I don't understand the long delays for porting games from iOS... this image has been up for a long ass time

Angry Birds developer ported the game to WebOS before android and say it will be out by the end of August... I doubt it willhappen.
My Evo is a pretty amazing piece of hardware and I'm a mostly happy owner, I'd just like to see a little more effort (or justification) from developers.

Objective C and C are a bit different though.Andrex said:But C code can be used in the NDK.
It just seems to me they're dragging their butts.
zoku88 said:Objective C and C are a bit different though.
And googles recommends not doing too much with the NDK.
I'm sure the main problem is converting the APIs.
DefectiveReject said:Yeah I have the same issue.
Are you running a modaco rom?
I'm running R8. Never had any issue before now.
Only for parts where the optimization was really, really needed. (Something like that is said in the documentation site, I believe.)Andrex said:For games I've seen Google emphasize the NDK time and again.
For whatever reason that link worked, no clue what the difference was.Paznos said:I downloaded the link from Droid-life.com and it installed fine not sure what the differences are between the two files.

Halycon said:Question. Does the GPS in my Nexus only work with a data connection/wifi or are there apps that let me use it without being connected to th internet? Because initially I assumed the GPS worked like any other dedicated GPS system but clearly the Nexus doesn't have enough space to store all the maps the aforementioned would have, which is why the data-connection is necessary.

Did you move flash?SimleuqiR said:Yup! 20 megs!
Maybe I can finally start playing around with Fennec!!! Those builds were like 20 megs (at least the last one I installed).
They released an Alpha build:

This will eventually become my default mobile browser, unless Google really improves the UI on the stock Android Browser.
