Anyone else with Froyo installed hate Flash in its current form?

It's slow, very difficult to interact with, and mars the overall browsing experience. Sites that used to load in a snap now lag behind because they're loading Flash content. Scrolling on a page with Flash content is also painfully choppy. Even when video does play, it seems like it's around 10-15 fps.

I uninstalled Flash for now. It is not ready for prime time, not even close.

Is this the best that Adobe can do? Haven't they been working on Flash mobile forever?

why not just keep flash installed and change its setting to only load "on demand"?

Go into Settings, and set the plug-ins to "On Demand." Now, Flash will only load when you want it to. Win, win.

You’re not alone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtGCaKyd_co&feature=player_embedded

Go with the On-Demand solution that others recommended. No one should be surprised at this. We need a better web.

Haven't been keeping up. But things have been depressing as a G1 owner stuck only on 1.5. Some of you folks running the beta builds of cyanogen 5.07 tho? How is it? I'll finally hack up my phone just for 5.07. The leap to 2.1 will be glorious and breathe some needed new life into the G1.

Erp I meant 1.6, but you get the idea. G1's practically dead on the official side of things especially with that FroYo announcement D:

I was in the same boat as you about 2 weeks ago. Figured that if they weren't gonna support the G1 anymore, might as well go for it. I rooted it, haven't looked back since. I say do it

This is probably old, but I just discovered the Metal Slug Zombie Live Wallpaper. You can bomb the zombies as they attempt to invade your phone.

Does that setting exist for xScope? Does xScope inherit that preference from the stock browser? I haven't played with it enough to know.

Here is a quick video I took. Ignore the red dot, that is the n900 not the actual wallpaper. Also any slowdown you see is from the recording, there is none on the actual phone.

No sighting for the N1 AT&T upgrade yet?

Gaw! I keep checking the update screen too.
technically the tmobile update isn't out yet either, it was just out to press and review phones. I wouldn't expect it any earlier then next week

Does anyone have any suggested apps to replace the K-9 Mail App? k-9 keeps shutting off polling and nothing seems to get it starting again aside from terminating the app and restarting. I have background synching enabled, have a data connection, but still nada.

I thought Juice Defender was conflicting with it, but even with Juice Defender disabled, K-9 still will stop polling randomly.

Thanks :D

Oh, I am on a Nexus One, still on 2.1.1. Thanks :D

I don't know, but some crafty developer finally put out a music player with gapless playback, it's called museek.

http://www.appbrain.com/app/ch.ethz.dcg.pancho2

Looks pretty neat too.

EDIT: just tested and works great, and completely configurable to your liking as well.
Wow this thing is amazing. Finally, gapless playback on Android. Long overdue. I can finally use this thing as a music player.

The only thing I don't like about the app is that I have to check every song off before I can play them. Is there any way to just play them?

Instead of checking off, i just hit the play button above the list, seemed to work fine.

What's the best big clock/weather widget for Droid? I've been through over half this thread and haven't seen much talk about them. I'm using Fancy Widget right now because it's free, but it's not very fancy.

I do appreciate the launcherpro beta suggestions though. That thing is pure awesome. SportsTap was also a good replacement when Scoreboard decided to 100% stop doing anything last weekend.

It's worth rementioning that the official Twitter app on Android is incredible.

My brother showed me the official iPhone Twitter app, it's so boring looking. I was surprised that they put so much effort into making the Android Twitter app so beautiful + Android style, and the iPhone app is just...an app that looks like any app.

My only complaint about the Twitter app is (1)No landscape support for the main screen and (2)the same RT complaint everyone else has.

I used to use Weather Widget.

I use the 2.1 Weather widget, it's gorgeous and the app is launches has a cool ui and nice info. The time is at the top, so that's that.

Beautiful Widgets is probably what you're looking for, though. Also worth checking out is Weather Widget by Android Apps, with the Weather Widget Forecast Addon.

Now I have another problem. It won't go onto the next song. Every time a song ends it pauses, and sits there. What's going on?

I prefer not to use the screen space for that, I like the option the Weather Channel app gives you, where you can have the temp. listed on the status bar, and when you pull down the notification panel, it displays additional info about the current weather (sunny, cloudy, etc.) plus any severe weather warnings.

After a lot of work from a lot of people, CyanogenMod 5.0.7 is out for your Dream and Magic (Fender/MT3G 1.2 also) phones! This is Android 2.1 (Eclair). It’s not without quirks, but it’s more than capable of being your daily driver.

Head over to the forums for all the details and download info!

You might also want to check out the CHANGELOG.

And HI to our friends at XDA Developers!

looks like my workout will be cut short tonight :D

This is too awesome not too share, and fits our zombie theme right now.

Pixel Zombies Live Wallpaper
(can't find it on Appbrain, so here's an alt)
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/haydenTheAndroid.liveWallpaper.pixelZombies/

It's a pretty crazy live wallpaper.
Green = people
Red = zombies
Blue = zombie hunters

You watch the blue take down the reds, but reds can turn green/blues into zombies and multiply.

Dropping an app onto the screen releases a nuke.

$0.99?

No thanks.

lol i know right, 99 cents...so expensive for someones time and effort

dont these apps grow on trees?

Time and effort for what exactly?

I have to agree with James... $0.99 for a wallpaper is a bit - Much - and does nothing in return except run in the background using CPU/battery cycles anyhow.

I'm in the court that finds live wallpaper to be the most useless thing in the entire OS however. Other than yourself, who cares if you have moving backgrounds? Cool...Sure, OK, yeah, functional or necessary? Negative.

I just don't get it. :)

What's a good sms back up app on the market? I wanna transfer all my sms messages from my old nexus too my current day phone.

Getting the EVO 4G June 4th and just wanted to know of any good chat/messenger apps that are free? My girlfriend and I use Blackberry Messenger all the time and will now have the EVO, anything good and fast out there like BB messenger?

SMS Backup and Restore works great for me. You can even set scheduled backups of texts. It successfully saved the 4,000k+ texts I have on my phone as I was messing around with rooting and installing custom roms.
