Can you be more specific, I'm not sure I understand what you mean. What do you mean by "better foundation to build on?"
Just that it's the source for all of these Android variants anyway.

What theme are you using for Beutiful Widget?
He probably has a theme applied that gives him that font.

I think he's changed the font for the entire phone looking at the Status bar as well. I haven't done that in a while so I can't quite remember how to change the font. Do some searching around I'm sure there's info out there.

and don't forget to hide background.

What was the name of that power settings black bar thing that looks like the stock power widget, but has a few more buttons?

Sorry, I realise that is a horrible description :lol, it is a black widget that takes up a row with on/off toggles for various things

Beautiful Widgets just got an UPDATE!

Accuweather now supported!

Thank goodness! The Google weather info never seem "accurate" in my locations.

  • 5 Day Forecast - You can tap each day for more info.
  • Added support for multiples instances of the Home Widgets.
There are more changes...way to many for me to type up.

Haters gonna Hate live wallpaper has been done. It's a bit choppy and I don't notice much of a difference with the fps but hey, it's a start. (It's the apk near the bottom of the thread, it's a bit confusing when installed because it just says Nexus One boot animation under live wallpapers and when you install).

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=737542&page=2
tried it on my droid and it just fc everytime, thanks though

oh yea. you need launcher pro to customize those icons, but you probably knew that.

You need to go to the Market, and it will tell you what apps have updates. Download the update. When I update it the Home widget had text telling me to delete it, that I needed to re-apply it to the home screen

So drag the textified widget to the home icon to delete it.
Then long press where you are placing the widget and re-apply. You will need to adjust your settings.

Thanks so much. Also, what is the icon set?

Right here. You'll have to be an XDA member to download the attachment...but anyone with an Android device should (have an XDA account).

There's a Photoshop template included in it to make icons...when my sister gets in I'm gonna get her to make me a bunch. :lol

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my battery seems to be going down faster since I d/l Juice defender and ultimate juice. :lol

Anyone have any settings suggestions that they've found successfully extended their battery life?

What's the best / fastest way to upload and share a pic off your Android device?
The stock Gallery app should allow you to upload direct to a Picasa account, if you have one.

You should also be able to upload and share via other apps if you have them installed, such as Twitter or Facebook.

Nice screens RJ and Stat Flow. Really making me want to dive into launcher pro even though I'm completely new to the phone. Do you have multiple home screens with stuff? It's a little intimidating to go into Launcher Pro and then you're just starting from scratch without any real idea (currently) of how to properly create a good layout for home pages (the default one is good though not great, but still better than nothing) and where to pluck all that stuff from to replicate what's needed from the old home pages and then add in anything else. The Launcher Plus or whatever widgets are cool functionality-wise I guess but don't seem to jibe particularly well with a minimalist aesthetic.

Also I'm sure it's been discussed several times but searching didn't help -- good sources for wallpapers, icons and the like? So far I have Launcher Pro and Beautiful Widgets that's about it.

Widgets? :P

Also, kind of new to this, for those "written out" icons on the dock you showed where to get them, but how to you get them on your phone?

Thanks

EDIT: Specifically the weather and clock? :P

I stick with stock icons because I can never seem to get all the icons for all my items and it looks odd to me having a couple of random ones not fit.

As for wallpapers, I downloaded all the Desire wallpapers, Droid X wallpapers, and Galaxy S wallpapers, plus a few from threads here and on xda. Most of them were downloaded on xda in the nexus one forum. There are threads dedicated to wallpapers for that phone but they will work, when you implement a background from the gallery you can size what portion of the picture you want to be the background. The Droid X and other ones not for my phone don't fit perfect but they look fine to me.

Launcher Pro is the best. I have an HTC Evo so it was really hard to lose those Sense widgets but I got over it.

Starting with a blank slate is great, the only thing is you have to find what you need. Another cool thing is you can pick your homescreen amount, right now I have 3.

If you want to go minimalistic, I'd suggest getting these widgets depending on what you want functionality wise:

-Pure Calendar/Smooth Calendar
-Music Mod
-SwitchPro widget
-Tajm and/or Digital Clock
-BattStatt

That's just to start.

For icons and stuff: http://launcherpro.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=11

(Changing dock icons is easy in launcher pro, I don't use any icons on my homescreens...just widgets.)

For my wallpapers, I either go to "Wallpaper threads" for the Evo or search DeviantArt for big wallpapers. Android will allow you to crop what you need to.

Pretty much what he said. Wallpaper Set and Save is a nice app as well and I like it better than the stock abilities.
