I had to disable the email count for launcher pro. I found that it was just lagging up my phone. Kinda sad cause I really liked the functionality.

I'm really hoping that the developer will focus on the rewrite because what made launcher pro awesome wasn't all the widgets but the speed IMO.

i think there is definitely a happy medium. I use the bookmarks and friends widget on my phone, i have OCD when it comes to random widgets that dont "fit" with the phone and this helps curb that. The swipe gesture actions are awesome as well but its starting to show its age with the internals. Hopefully the rewrite makes things easier

Don't know if it's been posted here already, but I found a really good Live Wallpaper, called Light Grid. Just search for it on the market.

Would get you links and pictures, but I'm at work, sorry.

ADB is a command line tool from the Android SDK to communicate with your phone over USB. I just realize now that if your phone is not setup to automatically enable the USB debug interface, that may not work. Anyway, you can try, just install ADB (Windows or Linux) and enter the commands. Here's how: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=502010

If you ever recover this phone, you'll be an Android expert :lol

I'm now officially (per seb anyways) an Android expert. Your solution didn't work for me so I switched it up a bit.

Code:
    adb remount
    adb shell
    # cd system
    # cd app
    # rm LauncherPro.apk
    # exit
    adb reboot

:D Thanks =)

There is now a free version of Fruit Ninja on the market because "Googe is Evil". If you don't care about supporting the developers (like I don't), download it today!

For those learning to drive in the UK, I recommend the Driving Theory practice app from Webrich Software:

Direct Market Link: [url]market://details?id=com.eknathkadam.ukdrivingtest[/url]

There's a free / lite version, but I don't think it has as many questions etc.[/QUOTE]

Cheers, just downloaded as I'm going to learn to drive shortly at the ripe old age of 31 (well 32 by then time I'd do my test).

Just did a mock test and got 38/50, think i need to buy a highway code :lol

I'm 27 and just learning, I've had two 2hr practical lessons so far and want to make sure the theory side doesn't hold me up. The 'e' at the top of the screen shows answers and displays an explanation, so you should be able to drill yourself and learn without a highway code, although obviously having that is good!

That isn't THE Fruit Ninja, it's a bogus rip-off, and its quality isn't even close. Hell, they couldn't even give it an original name either.

To the rescue!

Menu>Settings>About Phone>Battery Use

Probably some syncing/pinging stuff going on too often. Or Shopsavy. That app does some weird ish.

I had a look there and it didn't really tell me much. Whatever it was it seems to have fixed itself after whizzing down to 85% almost immediately coming off charge. Yesterday it was dead after 3hours

Install Spare Parts from the Market and inside it, you can check Battery History -> Partial wake usage. It's the quickest way to check if there's any app "leaking".

Also take a look in Settings -> Applications -> Running Services. Everything susceptible of doing background stuff will be staying there. Bare minimum there is Google Talk (or Google Services in 2.2) a.k.a. "com.google.process.gapps" and the keyboard you're currently using. Anything more than that (take into accounts desktop widgets appear here) is guilty on eating your battery and you should consider disabling it or changing the update frequency if you're really not using it.

Look on marketplace for an app called Spare Parts. Install, run select battery history and choose "Partial Wake Useage", and you'll get a list of the apps which are using most runtime.

Oh. Then yes, step two is spare parts.

Sometimes it helps, showed me a music player was selfish. Other times we gotta dig deeper.

Is there a way to put a widget on the notification pull-down? I saw somebody in the bus today with a SGS who had a switcher-like widget (for WIFI, 3G, GPS...) there, but I don't really know if you can achieve it with an app or if it's something specific from the Touchwiz interface.

Thats a touchwiz thing. Not sure if there is an app for it. One of the things I like about touchwiz. The Power control widget may be the closest thing.

I don't think it's possible to alter the notification bar through an app. One of the guys from cyanogenmod is working on adding it to the next release though

Desire HD ROM installed on my desire. It has an app switcher in the drop down. Rather cool. The whole HD ROM is pretty amazing. Bravo HTC

Will have to wait then. Samsung Spica devs are still figuring out drivers and stuff for 2.2, so it will take some time (having all hardware up and running) until they start porting cool stuff.

again:

my outdated version of launcher pro isnt working anymore. i cant access my homescreen and thus my apps.
yet, i cant install the new version, something goes wrong. i want to install "home switcher", but how do i do it, if i cant access the markeplace via the app.

Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> LauncherPro -> Clear defaults.

Which Desire HD rom are you using? Thinking of switching from OpenDesire. Cheers

I've decided against using Music Mod. The widget controls are so tiny they are near unusable. Just using stock player for now. I'm mainly interacting with my music through the widget and stock's looks nice and has nice big pause and forward buttons (previous track button would be nice).

So for the past six years or so I've imported and tagged my music with iTunes. Everything is a jumbled mess after throwing all my .mp3s and .accs in my "music" folder on my SD card. What's the best way to get my tags working with Android?

yeah, my problem is: how do i get to the settings, if i cannot access my homescreen and thus not open the menu that leads me to my applications. right now i can only access the browser, telephone, downloads and sms.

Press menu.

Edit: my bad, looks like your problem is worse? How can you only access those apps?

Yeah. It's a pretty awesome game. Has a lot of stuff to do and cool graphics, multiple control schemes. I just hate Gameloft.

Why? I like gameloft's shameless ripoff iphone games. I wish they would port more over to android.

i just cant get to the home screen, it automatically opens the browser with some launcher pro information and a dl link. i can access the core apps with the hardware buttons. the other ones using the dock just are not available.

i just found a way to get to the market and the just downloaded/updated apps (via the downloadsection, that i can access from the pulldownmenu) and downloaded home switcher, but that just shows the expired version of the launcher and i cant switch to something else.

i have no idea what to do now, is there a way to remove the launcher, without access to the homescreen and the desired menus? maybe i just dont see something, but this is really strange.

Is Asphalt 5 a worthy purchase? The demo is fun, but very small.

Its not bad. I wish they would release NFS Shift for fucks sake.. I have the demo apk file that works on my Galaxy S.. where is the full version?

For the last 6 hours I cannot download anything from the android market. I got a epic and restarted the phone 10 times how would I go about fixing this?
