Answer five short questions for a chance to win a $60 game (Now Closed)

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

I did seriously consider it when I was in highschool, but money prevented me from going to a good school at the time and didn't have the resources/tools to learn. Also am now kind of glad I didn't go that route with constantly hearing about studio closures/lay offs and having to move frequently.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

Long term employment, I like to know I have a place to go everyday and that my work is stable/reliable.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

I don't have a preference. As long as it's a good company to work for that's what matters.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

Probably one large project.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Self-publishes, note that this could be a large company as well, something like Valve. I don't think i would like working for say bungie and having investors from Activision push their ideas/visions of our product towards what they want (not to say that is what happened but it certainly seems to happen that way sometimes).

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. No, I have not considered becoming a game developer. I think I wouldn't enjoy mixing my favorite hobby and it becoming a job.

2. I prefer a long term job, as it makes living a bit easier for me in terms of not worrying too much about money and wondering when will my next paycheck could arrive.

3 I would prefer to work in a small studio, since it would be easier to really get to know everybody on the team and work in a much more friendly environment I feel.

4. I would prefer to work on one large project over the span of a few years. This way I can pour all of my energy and creativity as much as possible into it.

5. I'd choose if possible to go work for a company that can publish its own games, since it would allow for a little bit more of creative freedom in its design process I think.

2. Long term employment the job security is a major plus for me.

3.I rather work in a large studio mainly since i feel i will be showing my talents to a larger crowd and have a more prestigious name to drop on a resume.

5.Hmm not sure on this one i guess id say partnership since its nice to know you'll still gonna get paid at the end of the day regardless if the game bombs or not.

1. No, but I did play around with Unity and Blender in my high school days.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
- If done right, partnership. But would have to depend on the terms of the contract

1) Not seriously. The prospect of long-term crunch time is enough to turn me off. Plus employment in the industry seems pretty volatile, though I'm not sure how true that actually is.

2) Long term / permanent

3) Large studio / AAA

4) One large project

5) Self-publish

1. I have considered it(I am currently a developer outside of the game industry). I quickly decided against it because I want stability and decent working conditions, which are uncommon in the games industry. This pretty much drives my answers to the rest of your questions as they are all about trying to maximize stability and quality-of-life.

2. Long term.

3. Neutral, as neither one seems to offer any real stability.

4. One large project.

5. Self-publishes.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
Yes I have considered it, no I am not.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
I prefer long term employment.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
I would prefer a large studio.

I would prefer several smaller projects.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
I would prefer a company that self publishes.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1. No
2. Permanent Employment
3. Small / Indie Studio
4. One large project
5. Self-publishes.

1. Yes, considered

2. contract / temporary

3. small / indie

4. No preference honestly, but if I have to pick probably several different projects over the same course of time

5. self-publishes

1. I've considered it but probably won't be going down that path.

2. Long term

3. A large, well-funded studio

4. One large project over several years.

5. Self-publisher probably

1. Yes there was a period where i considered becoming a game developer/ no i am not a current game developer.

2. Long term employment, like the idea of having a stable long term job.

3. I would prefer a larger AAA studio, work with more people hopefully get your name and work out there.

4. I would prefer to work on several different projects than one large project. Seems like it would look better on a resume.

5. prefer to work with a company that had a publisher. Seems like less of a hassle.

1. Yes, I've considered it.

2. Long term or permanent

3. It depends on the studio. A relaxed, friendly environment is most important. But assuming I get to choose between two positions in relaxed environments, I would take the AAA job for the greater security.

4. Several projects

5. Publishing partnership

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

I have considered it, but am not really sure how to start. And no, not a game developer.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
Long term security is always ideal, but a short term project where I could learn a lot and then move on to something else would work well too.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
I think I could be happy either way, but probably more security in an aaa studio and easier to get more work from there.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
Several projects. More opportunities to learn from earlier games and make a good game. With the large project you only have one shot.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Self publishes because the company would have more control over it. *I* might not have more control but if I make a good enough case to my bosses I could potentially make something happen. If another company publishes, the opportunities for change are far more limited.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

A long time ago, yes I had considered it. Not so much anymore.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

I would prefer long term steady employment over contract work.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

Either one would be fine.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

Either one would be fine, but if I had to pick, several different projects sounds more fun.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

Either one.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?

No.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?

Long term employment.

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?

Large studio.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?

One large project over a set of time. Tweaking and polishing.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

A company that self publishes if possible.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?

1- Yes, when I was a teen. Nope.
2- Long term/Permanent.
3- Small/Indie - less resources but more freedom
4- Several small ones ona daily basis, but a long one as a hobby.
5- Self-publisher.

1. Yes - considered it.
2. permanent
3. small studio
4. several different projects
5. publisher as a partnership

1.) Yes, I'm currently a game developer. Senior Level Designer at Boss Key Productions.

2.) Greatly prefer longterm/permanent employment over contract.

3.) I prefer smaller studios, it's nice to walk down a hallway and know everyone's name as they pass. But when it comes to employement, I'll take either, to be honest.

4.) As long as the game ships, I'm happy to work on either multiple smaller titles or a single larger game. I've plenty of titles in the grave, that will never see the light of day.

5.) Self-publishing would be great and is preffered but partnerships are often necessary depending on the scope of the game.

1. When I was a kid.. then I realized it definitely wasn't something I'd want to pursue.

2.Long term/Permanent

3. AAA studio

4. One large project

5. Work with a publisher.

Hi, thanks for running this badass giveaway

1,no but writing video game narratives always fascinated me.

2, contract, I feel getting paid what I'm worth is more valuable than security and as long as I keep on the correct path there is no doubt I'm a huge asset to any company I work for.

3, I would rather be apart of a large scale AAA development team.

4, one long awesome project would be great, but risky and maybe not as financially viable. So I'd rather work and a lot of games with short dev cycles similar to What double fine does would be awesome. It's less risk and if a project doesn't envoke passion within me I don't have to commit as long as I would have with a game that has a 3 dev cycle.

5, a publisher partnership would be ideal for me.

1. Have you considered becoming a game developer / are you currently a game developer?
I consider it more often than not and have a ton of unfinished, but promising projects.

2. In general, do you prefer contract / temporary employment or long term / permanent employment?
long term/permanent

3. If you worked in the game industry, would you prefer to work at a small / indie studio or a large / AAA studio?
Indie Studio as my AAA experience is mostly negative.

4. Would you prefer to work on one large project over the course of several years, or work on several different projects over the same course of time?
One large, ambitious project that I can be proud of, which is also the reason my game projects never got finished/released.

5. If you did work in the game industry, would you prefer to work in a company that has a publisher as a partnership or work in a company that self-publishes games?
Dont mind too much if the publisher gives basic guidance, but I guess I would prefer self published in most cases.

1-Yes, and I'm currently an indie developer.

2-Longer employment for stability as a hypothetical scenario, though to be perfectly honest, I wouldn't want to work in the current AAA industry even if given a long term contract.

3-Smaller indie studio/small team size valuing multiple skillsets on few individuals.

4-I'd love to work on several smaller projects, but I find I work better when I focus on a single one. So it's kind of both: I'd like to try smaller parallel projects as a creative exercise, but I actually mostly do single lenghty ones for extended periods of time to stay focused.

5-Self publishing.

1) No

2) Long term / permanent employment

3) Small / indie studio

4) I would prefer one large project over several years

5) Preferably a company that self-publishes

1. Yes. Completed courses and developed some as both course work and hobby.

2. Long Term/Permanent

3. Large/AAA

4. Several different projects.

5. A company with the flexibility to do either. But if I had to choose I would go with publisher partnership.

1.) In the process of becoming a developer. Nothing for profit, all for the passion currently.

2.) I prefer both but if I had to choose one I'd do contract/temp work to get as much as a variety as I could out of an experience.

3.) Small studio.

4.) Work on one several projects at a time mainly because I get bored easily sometimes. With those options I'd be able to move on to something else if I've exhausted myself on one project.

5.) I'd prefer to work with a company that self-publishes since that's pretty much all I'm familiar with. Would be open to to the other idea depending on the contracts and people involved.

Hopefully this helps you.
