Anyone still having trouble deciding on their next-gen system?

PS4 seems like a better purchase right now. More powerful and $100 cheaper so you can buy more games. Since neither console has BC, buying any cross gen games on current gen seems like a bad idea.

On top of that I greatly prefer Sony's first party output and I already have a PS+ subscription that lasts for a while so I won't need to buy a new subscription at launch.

I've been debating with myself over the past few weeks whether to buy a whole new PC sometime in 2014 (my low tier rig is 4 years old and counting) or grab one of the next gen consoles. Been a console gamer since childhood but recently have fallen in love with STEAM and PC gaming in general.

Definitely don't need both seeing as 90% of the games I would want to play would be available on everything so its going to be one or the other. Decisions decisions.

Neither one is even out yet, and the games that have already been announced will mean very little in the big picture if these consoles' lives. Look back at what we knew about the 360 and PS3 pre-launch and you'll see how silly it is that people are making such a big deal about where we are right now like any of it matters.

No it's been an extremely easy choice for the PS4 and not the XB1 from the start, the price, the terrible policies that were attempted, the exclusive support of the previous consoles in the second half of their lifetime...

MS lost a bit of that intangible "customer loyalty" thing from me with how many times my 360 broke and how much it cost to get it repaired and lost me again when I saw how PSN was giving away all the same stuff for free.

Now with XB1, even if we forgive and forget their DRM policies now that they're reversed, the forced kinect purchase is still the nail in the coffin.

I just want a game machine. I don't want other stuff connected to it, especially if said things I don't want make it cost $100 more than the alternative.

This COULD HAVE been a difficult choice. MS made it an easy choice.

I have done 90% of my gaming this gen on 360 but from November I will be going PS4, might also build a new PC next year.

I think MS have been running on empty for 12months+ its like they gave up on the 360. I think PS4 is the clear choice for next gen, cheaper, better first party studios, better indie game support and PSN+ has been the best thing to happen in console gaming for years.

I can see myself picking up a Xbone in 3 or 4 years once there is a large selection of exclusives and hopefully a decent price cut.

Getting both, only really Killzone games wise on PS4 but want a few X1 launch games like Killer Instinct and Dead Rising 3, Forza 5.

Looks like November is going to be expensive.

Nope.

Bought a Wii U for nintendo games and will almost certainly end up with a PS4 at some point, depending when games to my taste drop (really hoping shadow of the beast 4 is good).

Will never buy an xbone

I have pre-orders for both. I'm definitely getting the Xbone, but I'm wavering on keeping my PS4 pre-order or not. In any case, I'll eventually have both if I don't get them at launch.

Still kind of wavering.

I pre-ordered the PS4 after E3 day 1 when they announced the price, but because there aren't any games (on either system) that are hooking me for release, I'm probably going to cancel my pre-order.

I think I honestly would rather the XBone, because some of the media things actually interest me. I'm a big NFL fan so that's of interest, and I think the UI will be slick for navigating the media options. I also want that controller.

The $100 premium for those things, though, doesn't do it for me.

So I am still kind of torn. I'm almost definitely not getting a console at launch.. especially with GTAV dropping. But after launch I really don't know.

I had a ton of problems deciding which console to go with (or to go full out PC) but that's more to do with mental issues than the consoles themselves lol

Probably gonna go X1. Just has more of what I like. In a perfect world, those games and their timed DLC/exclusivity would be for PS4 which I think is better as a gaming machine. Sounds like you should go X1 too OP.

I got a Wii U last year and Sony made my decision for me at E3 and yes, I was fully prepared to go Wii U exclusive until I could afford a PC if both console makers used that ridiculous "Discs are for installing, you don't actually own your games physically bought at retail" thing.

Cheaper, more powerful, ps+ & better games. Easy decision for me.
(oh, and I love Killzone)

Still on the fence

Have a PS4 pre-ordered but MS is doing a lot of good moves lately and I prefer their launch line up

Also the extreme hatred of the XB1 and hardon for the PS4 on this site makes me want to get the XB1 out of spite :P

Argh so torn.. I know I'll probably own both systems at some point but I can't pick which system (x2) to get at launch for my Battlefield fix.

If you don't have a preorder yet, you probably won't get a system at launch anyway. So just wait until you and your wife can test the controllers at retail. And if by then the PS4 version of Battlefield is confirmed to perform better, I don't see why you shouldn't get a PS4.

I am getting both, but I'd have a hard time recommending a Xbone to anyone who only gets one console at launch and is not crazy for Kinect.

I am mostly excited for PS4 but have pre-ordered both and will have both on release.

My wife will use the Xbone most because of the TV features and probably ease of use...
Kids will use Wii U most because its best for kids and the touchscreen.

Each has its use, but for me the PS4 is for pure gaming.

Mind mind is set.... PS4 on 29th of November. Xbone maybe next year when I can get one without Kinect and with Must Have exclusives.

I've been predominantly an Xbox 360 gamer this current gen even though I own all the systems. I played all 3rd party games on the system and love the controller. Not a big fan of Microsoft's 1st party titles but XBLA has had some great exclusives that I've really enjoyed.

I really can't stand the Dual Shock 3 controller and the PS3 is pretty much my Naughty Dog games and Netflix system.

However, I'm really torn on which system to go for now. Before E3 I would have easily said the Xbox One. But the PS4 is looking to be very attractive given it's £80 cheaper then the Xbox One, more powerful and the Dual Shock 4 looks to be substantially improved. My biggest issue with the DS3 was the lack of handles to grip, loose convex analogue sticks and awful triggers, all which looks to have been fixed. PSN+ is also significantly better value for money then Xbox Gold.

But there's no exclusives I'm really interested in at launch on PS4. The only game I really want at launch is Battlefield 4. But I've played all Battlefield games this gen on Xbox and am really used to the controller. There's also more exclusives I'm interested in on Xbox One like Killer Instinct, Ryse and Dead Rising that I'd probably pick up down the road.
I want to buy two systems at launch to play Battlefield with my wife. So it's hard justifying an extra £160 ($250US) for a controller preference.. as Battlefield is pretty much the only game I need at launch. My wife also refuses to use a Playstation controller even though I've explained the DS4 should be significantly better controller.

And don't say PC as it's not an option lol.
As a former Xbox360 gamer myself, who could play with the DualShock4 controller at Gamescom: You will love the DualShock 4 controller.

yea

Xbox One seems to be the happening spot in terms of console FPS's (CoD Ghost definitive version, Halo 5, Titanfall) but most of the sports gamers on GAF seem to be trending Ps4.

not sure what i'll do

Pre-ordered a PS4 on May 28. Already have a PC.

So really it's deciding between Xbone or Wii U to compliment those.

If you get a PS4 and already have a PC I would suggest the Wii U. I think most Xbone games will appear on either PS4 or PC. But if you need that Nintendo fix only the Wii U will do.

If I'd let controller designs dictate my purchases, I'd have missed out on the N64 and Gamecube. Ever think about just sucking it up and getting used to a controller for the sake of the games you'll miss out on otherwise?

Also, Mad Catz or PDP will probably have some kind of solution for you on either system.

Nope.

PS4:
More games
$100 less
More powerful
A lot of Free to Play games
Indie games raining from the sky
More diverse and interesting exclusives lineup

But PS4 has more FPS games, if you think that stuff is great.

Killzone: Shadow Fall
Definitive version of Destiny
PlanetSide 2
Blacklight Retribution
Superior version of Titanfall after the timed exclusive period is up. ;-)

I think the PC version of COD Ghost will be the best version. PS4 does have several free to play shooters coming near launch and Destiny looks like it will be best on PS4.

Xbone's trump card is Titanfall for those that do not have a PC, I am sure it will come to PS4 but the wait will be torture.

I have both pre-ordered but I'm only going to get one this Fall. Probably picking the other up this Spring (or later if it is the PS4).

With that said...the one thing my purchase is going to come down to is how BF4 performs. If it is close then I'm going XB1. If there is a significant performance advantage on PS4 then I'm going to go with it.

My personal preference would be for both versions to be identical because I'd rather have the XB1 first due to the multimedia features and timed exclusives in Titanfall and PvZ: Garden Warfare. The price difference isn't a big deal because my Gold membership is good until next August but my PS+ membership expires next month.

I just hope word starts coming out soon about each version looks. I don't know how I'm going to find that out before launch.

I was open minded until after MS revealed the xb1 which was such a bad reveal I became biased towards remaining a sony customer, the E3 sealed it...and MS's lack of clear direction or vision...or any confidence drove the nails into the coffin.

I dont want to commit a generation to a company or piece of hardware that I dont really know where they are headed...and I never loved Halo or Gears, which makes no real exclusive advantage for them.

Sony fist party studios are untouchable. If it does sell more consoles WW (and in NA especially) multiplats will be better for sure, PS+ freebies are also unmatched.

Ryse looks pretty in cut scenes, KI is a fighting game that will fall back into its small niche of players, DR3 may be he one game Id miss at this point. Forza will be countered by GT7 (one day)...

and ps4 is cheaper and more powerful.

unless you are married to your xbl account, it seems like an obvious choice, which is reflected by the anecdotal numbers we see.

Get a pc... and a gaming laptop? :P

You want to get the xb1, but have rationalised that the ps4 is the better purchase.

I have to say you're all over the place. You specifically called out xbla exclusives, but failed to mention any of the indie launch year exclusives on the ps4 and instead opted for ryse and killer instinct.

I say go for what you obviously want to buy right now, xb1x2. You can always buy the ps4 next year when it has exclusives you want.

I think as far as controllers go, I don't think the average consumer knows why they don't like what they don't like. I think it comes down to ergonomics and that's it. All this 'sticks are in the wrong place' etc is nonsense. The x360 controller was a gem that only needed its battery situation changed and the d-pad. And at least they've changed the d-pad.

I know which will be my preferred console. I just won't be picking any up for another year at least.

People get too hung up on launch titles, IMO. They'll both have titles worth playing and exclusives will have similar gameplay to their other system counter part anyway... FPS/TPS with a cover mechanic weeeeee!

I I we're buying a console at launch(I'm no)I'd get a Ps4 to supplement my PC. As it stands, ill wait for something like Kingdom Hearts 3 to release before buying my next gen console. The 360 games I'm interested in are gonna release on PC or 360 anyway.

I have a Wii U which I am extremely happy with, however I really want a PS4 or XB1 to play Battlefield 4 and am torn on which one to get.

PS4 is $100 cheaper and I feel better about paying for PS+ versus XBL based off of the "free" games and discounts I've gotten so far on my PS3 and Vita. However, there are no other announced games I am interested in. This might change since XB1 doesn't even have a release date for Japan yet and I mainly play Japanese games. I also don't really care for the analog stick layout.

On XB1 I am very interested in the Upload Studio feature, especially for a game like Battlefield. I like the Xbox controller layout more than Playstation's and I am very interested in the impulse triggers. XB1 also actually has some other games I want: Forza 5 and Crimson Dragon. However, $500+ is a ton of money and I don't care about Kinect at all. It would also be nice to not have to maintain a PS+ and XBL subscription.

I'm leaning towards the XB1 right now, but that could change.

In the world of console gaming, the games are what matters. To me, it sounds like you know the clear winner here, but are fighting with yourself over £160. You've already stated that you have no interest in the exclusives for the PS4, and have stated 3 X1 exclusives that you believe you will want. I would say, bite the bullet and get the X1. You know you like the controller, you know you like the exclusives, and I assume that, as you were primarily a 360 user this gen, most of your friends also play on MS devices. To me, the X1 is a clear cut winner for your situation!
