Anyone still having trouble deciding on their next-gen system?

Nope, Microsoft made my decision for me by bungling their message and pricing their weaker hardware more than its competition.

PS4 was pre-ordered a minute after $399

i definitely was, still a little doubt. basically, i gave sony gamescom to win me over and they showed almost nothing new and GT6 won't be coming to ps4 (and GT7 is no doubt a long ways off).

the power difference concerns me. MS's lack of will concerns me (i dont want a backpedaling on a kinect i'm not sure i want but am willing to give a go if its bundled with ALL systems). but even still, i got an xboner for forza and halo, so i'm not going anywhere.

Kinda. I want a PS4 more, but my friends and sister are buying an Xbox One.

However, now that I have to get a Wind Waker Wii U, PS4 being $100 less might be the tipping factor.

I think I'm going to place a pre-order for 2 x PS4 at HMV retail store at this stage. I want it at launch and don't trust any online retailers to get it to me on launch day now.

I forgot to mention the Titanfall impressions also left me very conflicted as that game looks amazing too!

I'm not planning on 2 of each console as we only had one of each console this generation except for the 360 (and 3DS).

We're going to Eurogamer Expo in September in London so hopefully get some good hands on with the PS4 there.

I work in IT and used to be a big PC gamer but the last thing I want to do when I get home is sit at a PC (its not set up as HTPC). Plus I can't keep up with the games on console let alone all those amazing cheap Steam games!

Nope, I'm pretty sure by this time next year I will be able to hop on the Xbox One without the kinect garbage.

god damnit. i think you may be right.

thats one of my major cautions with going xbox. i'm going to get stuck with a pos kinect that again isnt fully supported.

PS4 already pre ordered and paid for. Already have a PC and Wii U.

Will buy the Bone later down the road if it has some exclusives that are must haves for me. Also playing wait and see on MS's policies and features coming to fruition. Can't say I trust them at this point.

Its both PS4 and Wii U. But so far, I don't need either for a good while. For me to get to buy a PS4 I will need KH 3 and FF 15 to be out. For Wii U I will need the new Zelda and X to be out. But no, I will not be buying either anytime soon.

Its a tough one for me also. I wish Sony would have made an asymetrical controller and made the choice easier. I'm doing wait and see approach.

I was going back and forth especially after the strong Sony showing at Gamescom. I do think I prefer the launch lineup on the xbox for exclusives, but I am excited to play many of the smaller downloadable games that Sony showed off for the near future. I'm sad because I still have like 8000 MS points that will be converting to dollars and it seems like Sony has the advantage on non retail games right now.

The news about 720p for Battlefield sorta killed my hype in both consoles and for a second I considering waiting a few months to see how everything pans out. Ultimately buying both at launch now isn't much money for me considering the length of a generation and I will end up getting both. Just spending a few hours playing Saint's Row 4 on 360 and hearing how bad the PS3 port was convinced me to move now.

Im in the same boat. All I want at launch is BF4. Ive got both preordered but am going to cancel one. One day Im leaning towards PS4 because of Naughty Dog alone. The next Im leaning at the One because of Titanfall and I actually think the kinect looks like it could be very cool in a few years.

Nope, was always decided on both an Xbox 1 and a PS4. I'll most likely also pick up a Wii-U at some later point.

Nope.

PS4 is already paid in full.

Xbox One will be purchased when they finally offer a kinect-less sku.

Good luck with that. Xbox One will never come without Kinect.

Nope getting both .. I love gaming .. I am not a cheerleader.. I want to play all games that interest me.

It's easy logic to follow.

You will not be stuck with anything that isn't fully supported. They have already stated that you do not need the thing plugged in, so the level of support it's going to receive will not change regardless of if it's included in the box or not.

I'm sure there will be plenty of games / apps for you to flail your arms about and yell at your box to do your bidding. If that is what you want, more power too you and I hope you enjoy the hell out of it. I want nothing to do with it, so lets see if they make a console for me in the near future.

We shall see ;).

Nope. Already decided. Wii U and 3DS is gonna be all I need for the next 5 years.

3DS is a beast of mobile gaming console and the Wii U has so many games - 1st and 3rd party - I want, all of which I probably won't even be able to afford this year.

It has the most diverse line-up of games. Can't stand consoles almost completely focused on shooters, killbang and cinematic "AAA" experiences.

there is such a huge difference in expected usage for a kinect that comes with the system but doesnt have to be plugged in vs. an (expensive) add-on. its silly to think that because it doesnt have to be plugged in any more that a significant number of people wont use it and devs wont develop for it.

you sound like an expert on what kinect 2.0 brings to the table. for the record, i think that all the other stuff that kinect can do is far more interesting then your comment about flailing arms and yelling.

Yeah, I had to think about it. Still am.

Don't know why it's bothering me so much, as I am primarily a PC gamer and already have a fairly beefy computer.

I have both pre-ordered, but fairly certain I will be going with the Xbox One.

I like the controller more, the launch exclusives and the online service more than PS4's offerings at least right now.

I'll end up getting both at some point, but for now, the Xbox One suits my needs, personally.

Even in the very probable event that the PS4 has the better looking multi-platform releases, 99% of those games I would be getting for my PC anyways, so that doesn't really bother me.

I'll get a PS4 next year, probably when Second Son releases as that's a title I really want, if Second Son was a launch title, I'd probably go with PS4.

X1/PC

PS4 pre-ordered 5 minutes after E3. The Xbox One was a non-starter for my girlfriend and I. It started with the crazy limitations and bad policies and the reversals do not instill confidence. I'm not sure what I'd be pre-ordering with the Xbone nor with what it'll ultimately end up being. To point, all the reversals are reversals to Sony-equivalent policies. None seem like improvements over Sony policies, though.

I haven't really liked a system exclusive since Xbox OG (Amped, Halo, Rallisport, Morrowind). I don't especially like Sony exclusives either except for inFamous (best superhero games I've ever played, flaws notwithstanding) and weird Japanese shit like Ni No Kuni (my face hurts from smiling when playing that game).

I have huge nostalgia for Killer Instinct but I won't buy a fighter on a new system that relegates my expensive Mad Catz stick to obsolescence - I can't afford a new fight stick on top of a launch system. That makes me glad that there's no new Street Fighter or Tekken announced for PS4.

I was astounded to finally realize that I LIKE FPSes but I hate modern settings. I want my zaniness, color palate, futuristic architecture, and space magic. I like Halo, Mass Effect (Yeah, TPS but still..), Borderlands 2, Bioshock, etc.

MS is just too 'me too!' This gen. They are buying exclusives and DLC in what I think are dying genres (modern military shooters). They are doing fuck-all interesting with Rare that could compete with a seriously weakened Nintendo. Project Spark will leapfrog where Mm WAS but probably not where Mm are going to be.

I don't trust MS to announce anything that isn't Gen 7 but prettier.

Easy choice for me. I want all the extra media functions Xbox Is showing. Fantasy updates while playing a game. Friend invites while watching tv. All dat snappin. Got a pc for my graphic needs. Will get a ps4 when infamous comes out.

WiiU/PC/PS4 for me. Won't get the PS4 until next year though.

Also to OP: I still doubt DR3 will remain exclusive. Probably will hit PS4 in the spring.

I'm happy with my current PC/3DS pair. If I do buy a next-gen console, it'll be a PS4.

Same. Pretty much have been playing PC/3DS exclusively for a few months, and plan to continue through next gen. Maybe even clean up my PC backlog....maybe.

I have a PC already, and I will be upgrading the GPU at some point.

As far as consoles go, I know that I don't want an Xbox One, and I knew at some point I was going to get a PS4. The real decider was whether I would hang onto the barely-used Wii U I have, or sell it on.

Sonic Lost World, Wind Waker HD, Monolithsoft's X and Bayonetta 2 have convinced me to hang onto it until next E3, at least.

So PC/PS4/Wii U(?) is how I'm rolling with home consoles for now. I don't think Nintendo has sealed the deal with Wii U, however, and I while I'm happy to have it as a secondary console I use less than my main, I want to see good stuff next E3 because the disappointment I had over SM3DW's reveal almost pushed me to selling mine.

I'm not going to claim that, we all know how those kind of post go lol. However there is absolutely nothing MS has showed that makes the kinect appealing (to me). As something, OMG I MUST HAVE THAT. The only thing they have showed is you can tell your xbox to turn on and use you hands to watch the price is right when you need a break from your halo gaming session. There is absolutely nothing, zero, they have shown from a gameplay standpoint to make it appealing. If it was such a big deal, like Xbox One IS Kinect, then every game shown would have built in fantastic must have kinect only features. So please show me where these features are in what they have shown us so far?

Skype? Really? They have to do better than that.

My only decision was to get one or not, not which one. Then I remembered how much I use my gaming PC for traditional PC uses and that was when I decided a new console was in order. It was either a new PC for me to do traditional PC stuff on, or a new console. The new console is just an easier choice.

It was always going to be PS4. Sony has never let me down with one of their consoles. Microsoft has let me down twice. It comes down to the first party support, something that microsoft does not believe in.

If I was getting one at launch it would more than likely be a PS4. However, I don't see myself buying a next-gen console until mid to late 2014 at the earliest, so I won't make a decision until then.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP. I own a 360 and PS3 but the 360 ended up being the go-to console this time around.

Basically it's going to boil down to online functionality and what my friends get.

I wasn't that impressed with PSN this gen. A lot of features and abilities were lacking and overall playing with friends was just more of a hassle than it was on Live. And even though I would prefer moving to PS4 as my go-to this gen I won't think twice about getting an XB1 if my friends all do that instead. Even if I see the PS4 as the better console I'll have infinitely more fun playing on Live with my friends than I would playing with randoms on PSN.

I'll be waiting at least a year before I get anything though so I'll have time to see how things shake out.

Not really. The only thing I keep flip-flopping in my brain about is whether to keep the xb1 or get it when titanfall comes out. I'm keeping the ps4 for sure.

I was questioning my decision around E3 time, but after hearing nothing but good news from Microsoft after the big DRM 180, I'm sticking with the Xbox One this Fall.

I'll pick up Ps4 in a year or two (maybe three). (Letting the exclusive catalog pile up)

Much more than likely a PS4 sometime next year before Destiny launches. Just a bit worried about whether or not PSN will become up to par with at least the 360's Live.

Me and most of my friends have been Xbox gamers pretty much since the original launched. I'm concerned that the XBO may indeed wind up having better service (dedicated servers, skype, reliability of the service not being down for maintenance every five minutes, not having to live in fear of the possibility of the next system update bricking your console, etc), but we're all fed up with Microsoft's treatment and apparent perspective of the xbox brand and its customers (going back several years, not simply just the Xbone debacle). I'm a bit more middle of the road myself, but I have one friend who, even before the XBO, was ready to swear off the Xbox for life.
