I love how when Jobs says "when you're close to a Starbucks location..." he actually means "always" because they're fucking EVERYWHERE. Zing!!!!

Edit- They open SEVEN FUCKING STORES A DAY?!?!?! Jesus, all the more reason for me to go to Stumptown.

I would totally buy one of the 160GB Classics now. Not because I have that much music or video, but because the battery life is off the charts, and when traveling it would come in vary handy. 40+ hours is amazing.

If the Touch had a hard drive, the battery life would be even lower.

I dont know.. I guess I've just gotten so used to my shitty 3g 40GB model. The one I have to charge mid day at work to keep it going.. but I've been doing it so long, I don't even care anymore about charging it.

I know it would be more SKUs for them to maintain, but I wish they would give us the option... space or battery life. Have one withan 80GB hard drive with smaller batter life and then the ones they announced.

At the high end, sure.

It always seemed like wishful thinking to me since 32GB for any type of flash memory is still quite expensive. And yes more than $400 expensive.

I have a 30GB iPod Video and the most music/pictures/video I have ever had on it is 22GB. I can get away with 16GB. I don't need my entire library on me at all times. I just have to decide if I would use those other functions.

could somebody explain why there wasn't already a Wi-Fi music store? I thought you just need wireless and you're set.

I already asked this once - but can someone explain why I'm not seeing the mail icon? The BIG reason I wanted an iPod touch was to be able to deal with my email when I'm not at home (I'm not switching carriers to get an iPhone)... :(

I just don't get it. It has Wi-Fi... why no email?

Starbucks integration: When you get near a Starbucks location, you’ll get a Starbucks icon in iTunes Store. You can buy songs that are playing over the Starbucks music selection, and you can even look at the last 10 songs that’s been played and buy the songs there.

oh for christs sake

Microsoft should just fold up the Zune division now, I think it would be actually more productive and entertaining for them to just literally burn the money they're ploughing into it. The money would probably last longer that way, too.

It has a web browser. Don't you have web access to your e-mail?

They have to differentiate the iPhone I suppose.

It would probably keep some people in third world countries warm for YEARS. THINK OF THE CHILDREN, MICROSOFT, THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Holy shit that's all awesome.

NBC Universal's people in charge of their online distribution must have just shit a fucking brick.

I can imagine that J Allard probably feels slightly uncomfortable too. By which I mean suicidal.

Wow. I don't give a crap about Zune, but your behaviour in this thread makes me wanna stop listening to your podcasts.

It looks a little more appealing now that its one of the only HDD-based MP3 players with Wifi.

If Microsoft knew a damn thing about software development, they'd be iterating on the firmware, constantly adding network features.

As it is, I'm not sure there's any good option for me :(

They have to differentiate between that and the iPhone.

The Touch should have been the top of the line/pricey iPod. It wasn't long ago (3 years actually) that they launched a 60GB iPod for $600.

You pretty much summed up my feelings exactly (I even have the 3g 40 gig to match). A bulkier model with lower battery life but superior storage would have been ideal. Dying ipods and cellphones with 3 hour talk times have gotten me used to coping with battery drain. Oh well...

<iPod Classic - 160GB>

Sometimes, I'm glad to be fucking wrong! Maybe it's because no one ever excepted and new iPod Classic...

If you don't give a crap about the Zune, why would you care that I think it's doomed to fail?

I'm pretty sure Johnny Nighttrain took over the Gary Whitta account a few months ago :D Keep listening to the podcast.

16GB?? SIXTEEN GB?? WTF?!!

fuck it Apple, i´ll keep my 30GB Video for another year. you really let me down. aaaagggghhhhhhh im so pissed.

To me the Touch is akin to the Nintendo DS. It's basically a new platform, so they can afford to experiment with things like capacity, adding WiFi and Safari, etc. because it's still new and they don't have to worry about besting the previous model. The Classic is the iconic iPod. They're not going to make major changes other than making it smaller and bumping up the capacity.

I find a really useful app on my N95 is that it can get all my podcasts via download when they come out over wifi.
Similar to the PSP. If something like this is part of the Wifi iTMS update for the iPhone and that rumor about iphone price reduction is true, I think I just might pull the trigger.

Fuck webmail. To effectively use email on the go I need my mail app, with its folders, its search, etc.

new iPod classic sounds amazing.

That ipod touch shit is a joke though. waste of money and an obvious cash grab for people wanting an iphone.

Yeah I think it's pretty smart they didn't just replace the top-of-the-line iPod with the touch because there are plenty of people out there who like the classic clickwheel functionality just the way it is.

When I'm listening to my iPod in the car, for instance, I'm much more likely to use my old 5G iPod than my iPhone because it's easier for me to navigate without having to take my eye off the road. Plus I don't have to use that stupid fucking bendy adapter.

Why? Zune doesn't have to even come close to the iPod in sales to make money. You don't have to be #1 to make a profit. Not like Apple has put Creative out of business or anything. MS just needs to build it's place in the music player space and be happy with that.

I thought the big differenciator was that, you know...the iPhone makes phone calls, and the iPod touch doesn't?

Come on... I want MAIL on my Wi-Fi-enabled iPod. It's a no brainer, and its absence is a deal-breaker for me, and I'm assuming other OSX users.

I think i'd be willing to pay $250 for a 32GB memory stick and just use my PSP for everything. Its music interface is kinda shitty, but at least it would do everything I want.

seriously, the zune bashing is getting fucking old. and this is coming from an ipod fan.

I have 30 gigabytes of music. I own a iPod Video with 60gigs. I wanted an iPod touch with at least 40 gb. So I'll wait till next year. I don't pay at least 300 € for a touchscreen.

I guess I know my plans for XMas (hopefully):

Me: 80gb Classic (I'm about to max out my 4G 40GB iPod, 80GB should work for me for a long time)
Fiancee: either 8GB Nano or 8GB Touch (16GB Touch is way too much for my budget =P)
