That backside choice has to stop. I never liked it when my older iPods scratched when I looked at them wrong, and I don't think I'd enjoy it if it happened to this iPod touch.

The question really is whether or not you can live with 16 GB on your iPod or not.
If Apple doesn't support library (smart folders?) wireless sync scheduling they're idiots.

You could set it to daily sync a playlist with 5gb of random tunes.

PS. Apple if you want to hire me I have more ideas and work for peanuts

Did the first gen Nano have a lot of problems? I'm tempted to get the new Nano.

The screen cracked easily iirc, but they offered free replacements after the class action lawsuit.

They scratched easily apparently. I never had one so I couldn't say. New 'uns should be fine with that aluminium dealie.

I have a 2GB Nano and I live easily with it. :lol

Maybe I'll buy a new one though, the longer battery life is interesting.

The iPod touch just seems like something they felt obligated to shove out the door despite being completely impractical. Imagine the uproar if they hadn't released "something" with an iPhone screen. But seriously, 16GB of memory to use with that fancy screen? Umm, no. They really need to let go of the flash memory idea until it gets cheaper, Nano/Shuffle aside. The 160GB iPod classic was a nice surprise though-- totally exceeded my storage demands, and the price is decent.

yeah why did they go back to the chrome back on the ipod touch?

I carry my iphone in my pocket in no case or anything and it does not scratch.

touch ipod looks to scratch easially just like the older ipods.....

WTF?

Putting video aside for one moment, it astonishes me that some people actually have 160gb of music, but I guess many do.

I have barely 12gb on my iTunes. How much do you have?

94.55 gigs in iTunes, so that is without flac(although it contains my lossless classical rips) of some of the prog and fusion that i ripped to flac before having an ipod at all. Of course, those songs are on the iPod at 320 so no great loss.

I was really hoping for at least 120 so I could go back to having it all(before discovering the wonders of apple lossless) but fuck me 160 is so awesome.

I don't know why people are complaining about 16 gigs. At apple encode rates that is what, 5 or 6 days straight of music? I have no idea how their space works, but that is a lot. I understand I just complained about this myself, but that is what you get if you pay for form over function.

$349 is also very fucking amazing.

a 16gb touch ipod would be pretty awesome for me (i have an 8gb nano at the moment and change what's on it once a week). i'm sure the australian pricing for it will be insane though.

i have about 60 gigs on my itunes, about 85 gigs total of mp3s on my hard drive and backup dvds, and about 28 gigs on my 80gb 5g ipod which I totally love.

on a totally unrelated note, does anyone want to buy a used 80gb 5g? :)

I like how 16GB is now considered something laughable for an mp3 player. Its like 3200 songs. I mean seriously, you people are such fucking whiners. I NEED TO HAVE EVERY SONG IN MY LIBRARY WITH ME AT ALL TIMES DAMN YOU APPLE IM TREMBLING WITH RAGE HERE.

I've had a 1GB nano for almost 2 years now. It teaches you how much crap music you have on your iTunes (I have like 25 gigs).

Though think 1GB is not enough, but 4 or 8 would be more than enough. You don't need all your music AND videos with you all the time.

The indecisive nerd who must have the latest and greatest does.

Audiophiles, too.

I bought 2 iphones at launch so I wasnt gonna let go of $400 so easially....

So I called up apple, and after 40 minutes of flaming their sales department silly, they gave me a $400 itunes store gift card.

Note that they also noted that I have bought 5 computers from tem in the last 3 years - guess they didnt wanna fook with me...

I would prefer the $400 in cash, but itunes store credit is better than nothing.

Holy crap! That iPhone price drop is insane! Slap in the face to early adopters, but they are gonna sell a shit-ton more now. 16 GB iPhone is a given at $499.

iPod Touch... oh shit. I currently have 22 GB of music, don't know if I can go to an iPod with less space than my music. Sure is tempting though.

God damn, Iphone dropped fast.

The ipod touch, I want to touch it. Do we know if it's a worldwide release?

It is. Well, it's on the UK store at least. It might not be a simultaneous release but it should be everywhere.

I'd buy the iphone if:

1) 3G
2) Has a better camera and can record videos (come on, my 3 years old cell phone can record videos)
3) Not tied to f***ing AT&T

$400 in iTunes credit is awful. I'd struggle to spend that seriously. I've already got a massive library so I'd just end up squandering it on whim purchase crap that I didn't really like.

I'd have pushed for Apple Store credit myself. Even just $100 would be worth more in my eyes than $400 of songs.

Well I do use the stor occasionally ...not sure if i can use $400 over the next 24 months...

but still better than nothing..I can always gift music to people with it.

How long does it usually take before new models show up in European stores? It's on the Apple online store for Spain but I'd rather buy it in an actual store...
