The 16GB Touch is mine. More than enough space for my music and absolutely stunning.

Yep,just pre-ordered myself one.

Cant wait, that's plenty of room for my music needs.

I still can't figure out how this press conference = stock drop. It's a great iPod revamp across the line in time for the holidays.

Huge iPhone price cut = it must be doing poorly?

Apple also said it is cutting the price of its most expensive iPhone model to $399 from $599, and the company will phase out an entry-level iPhone that had sold for $499. The price cuts come just over two months after the release of the much-hyped combination cellphone and digital player, and appeared to spook investors: Apple shares fell 5.1% to $136.76 Wednesday on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

I'll wait a year for the inevitable 32 GB iPod Touch. :D

Good stuff otherwise.

I think I may be doing this as well. It really, REALLY kills me as I was super hyped to be buying the Touch today, but I might just wait it out. DAMN APPLE.

All the extra features though (wasn't expecting it to include Safari) may be worth just getting the 16 GB now...

I took the plunge on a 2GB refurb'd Nano for $52 shipped. Thanks for "refreshing" your Shuffle with new colors, Apple.

I am thinking of going for the iPod touch for a number of reasons:

1. I am from the school that doesn't believe you have to carry every single bit of media you have everywhere with you, I currently use a Nokia N73 with a 2 GB SD card as my primary music player/camera.

2. I will probably never find a convergence device that will be the perfect phone/camera/media player/web browser, with my N73 and iPod touch I can have the best of both worlds.

3. I won't have to tote my laptop around as much and can use the Touch to check email and the web.

rumors are allways jucier than news.. its weird and has little correlation to apples actual moves.

That's certainly what an idiot would assume. My take is that they priced it as high as they thought they could and still have it sell well early on. Now that the early adopters have theirs, they're switching to a price point where they make their usual margins.

I don't care. I've got puts on it at 106 with a 13.5% interest rate. They'll expire very soon, there is no way it'll drop that low.

Just from the sounds of what I'm hearing today online and from friends the iPhone price drop seems to have suddenly made it attractive to a LOT more people...

Apple did a really smart thing with this lineup for the holidays.

The fact is, the nano is always the best-seller in the lineup. This nano is the best yet and priced to really move, so Apple kept the focus where it needs to be; on the big money-generator.

The fact that all those nano owners will now be able to buy and enjoy video from the iTunes Store on their new model nanos is huge. NBC am fail. They lost the opportunity to sell to a huge new segment of customers that haven't bought video before.

I ordered the 16 gig touch, the only thing I hate is that it takes a while before it ships.

16 gigs doesnt bother be because I went from my 20 gig Gmini400 to a 4 gig nano and now bumping it up to 16 gigs.

the new nano isnt too bad, it just looks really odd from the front, but the general size of it is nice.

Damn, this is hard.

I have a 2G Nano(4gigs) which i never fill up or need to really. A PSP for my video+Games+Internet on the go, and A LG CU500 cellphone.

I could get the new Ipod touch but for just $100 more i could replace my phone too(im already on AT&T). But I will never fill even 8gigs, so i would most likely get the 4gig Iphone, but 4gigs is not enough for video+music. Dammit Apple.

Yes, this is a BIG move from Apple that will certainly payoff.

A price drop will do that, especially when price is the prohibitive factor in a consumers purchase.

/business 100 because Apple operates outside the traditional rules.

iPod touch looks nice, but where is the mail app? They better be planning firmware updates.

It's like that for a reason - to differentiate the products. iPhone is the more expensive one, it gets more features.

Same reason iPod Touch has no Stocks, Notes, Weather, and Maps apps.

How much do you guys think I could get for a 60GB 5G with a case (and some minor scratches)? Keeping in mind that the Touch is $329 and $449 up here, I could use the extra cash. Does Apple have a trade-up program?

did you buy the put, or sell it?

id murder for a call @ 106

I'm going to settle for the 8GB iPod Touch. Had to give up my iPhone (to my brother) now that I'm in Japan. Wi-Fi is a nice touch though!

You're probably right, but I'm in Soviet Canada, so no iPhone for me. If only they'd open up that platform...

Edit: Uh-oh, the iPhone doesn't support 802.1X? Hope they fix this with the iPod Touch. No Wi-Fi access on the campus FTL.

just finish watching the special event from apple.com. all are great expect when Steve announce the price drop of Iphone. i guess Apple learn their lesson from Sony at a quicker rate. that full 200.00 dollar price drop is huge. i guess we'll see a iphone2.0 announce at mac event at Jan 08.

When can we expect to see the new models (besides the Touch) at Apple's retail stores?

Steve said: "this weekend."

back to my own reply i just thought of something new. with PS3 and Iphone's poor sale.

My question is: are we as consumer ready to adapt some of these new technology.
ex: HDTV, IPHONE, Bluray and PS3 etc...

Refurbished models get their value knocked down.

What a bunch of assholes:

But it was the iPhone price cut that got the most attention, raising questions about the device’s continued success.

Apple executives insisted that the move had been planned long ago and that the pricing strategy was conceived in part to keep the iPhone’s pricing in line with its new iPod Touch. But the sharp price cut suggested that even Apple, which has long lived in a pricing bubble insulated from other personal computer makers, is not immune from the brutal pressures of the cellular phone business.

Hey guys, let's screw the early adopters!

The worst part is my wife now wants one because of the price. :(

I am pretty goddam pissed right now!!

I sold my 4gb iPhone on Ebay last week and the asshole I sold it you never paid for the thing. While I have been waiting for the non paying buyer crap on Ebay to go through the price of the iPhone drops through the floor. Thanks alot Apple......I am pissed at the non buying jerkoff on Ebay more than anything.

Hell, maybe I will just reactivate the damn thing and use it myself.

Well, the answer is to never early-adopt. Ever.

Ever.

Ever.

Dude, this is unsurpassed in lameness- 2 months! I bought many other just released iPods, Macs, and Apple products and none of them had a 33% price reduction in 2 months. You're not being helpful, you're being an asshole.

I think I am getting a 8GB touch for Xmas, don't need 16 as I am not even filling close to that on my Zune because all I really listen to is podcasts. BTW if you haven't watched the Guided Tour on apple.com it is pretty awesome. The iPod touch is so sexy.

When aren't the early adopters of any product screwed?

The only assholes here are early adopters that, at the time, were content enough to drop $600 on a phone and live with it, but are now just angry out of selfish spite.
