Are you going to buy PS4 Pro?

I think I'll do fine with a vanilla PS4 for a while. I play all my third party stuff on PC, and I don't think I can justify a new console for handful of exclusives I'm gonna buy.

I might upgrade. I've just upgraded my PC to Nvidia 1080 card so I need to have enough exclusive content to swing it as I intend most high end graphical titles to be on my PC.

Im not sure, seems like a decent upgrade or midcycle refresh but lack of 4k bluray is dissapointing. Price is $399 for a 1tb which is good.

Obviously Scorpio coming out a year later with at the very least 6 teraflops has a big advantage... But can i wait? hmmmmm

No, Never.

My I7 skylake, GTX 1070 will do me just fine.

Console game just don't interest me anymore. Having dual monitors with a 1440p screen is just so great. Multitasking is just too good.

Neo! I'm about as excited for it as Cerny was. Dude was literally going to fall asleep talking about it. From the applause, there was literally one person in the audience genuinely excited for this. What was Sony thinking? I think Microsoft will price the Scorpio at $499 and eat Sony alive.

Their messaging was just fine. What you're leaving out of this comment is that those "nice graphic/rame rate upgrades with an regular HDTV" is entirely dependent on whether developers decide to bother with them. Devs may not bother at all. Or it may be a good six months to a year before they start really offering games with better 1080p fidelity over the OG PS4. Or it may not become something that happens until they have to also deal with PS4, PS4P, Xbox One S, and Scorpio all on the market at the same time. It's hard for me to imagine many multiplatform devs putting in the extra effort to make their game look prettier on ONE device when they already have to deal with developing for multiple devices.

Fair enough but there is a little thing called PC with it's wide range of specs. I don't think the big publishers want to miss out on this change in the console landscape, especially with 4k not being big enough yet. Time will tell I guess. I choose to stay positive for now.

The severe lack of upgraded power, no 4k UHD drive and a horrible conference unsold me on it.

Maybe my opinion will change when the platform matures but at this point I'll wait for Scorpio.

So I didn't watch the announcement since I was at work..

Are there any upsides to the Pro if I'm sticking to 1080p? Did they mention any visual or framerate upgrades besides just the resolution?

No, not this year at least.

If you want that kind of graphical fidelity you are playing on PC. It's not a huge leap, i'm ok with my OG PlayStation 4.

Yes. You will get upgrades to games even on regular HDTV - what these upgrades are is up to the developers and how they decide to utilise the extra power.

Not sure yet as I don't have a 4K TV. They are expensive too. Anyway, when all is said and done I think the PS4 Pro is still of great value for a gaming system and having another option for gamers is always a nice thing. What Sony have to do now is keep up the momentum with PS4, PS4P and PSVR and go beyond thier over 40 million user base.

I need that NiNoKuni 2 sexiness in 4K. But on the other hand I need to watch movies in 4k.

Sony you see the problem here?

Missed the presentation today but from what I understand this PS4 Pro does NOT play 4K movies but does upscale to 4K for games am I understanding this right? My issue is that its not 2TB, my current PS4 I upgraded my PS4 to a 2TB hard drive so Im not sure if I could just pop that one out and put it in the new PS4 or if the new one has an SSD drive

I'm going to stick with my OG ps4 for now. Satisfied for what it can output in graphics for now.

By the way, what difference will the HDR do on the OG PS4? will it help run games better?

$500 CAD, damn. :/ I'll still get it, but it's not like my salary increases because of our shitty dollar...

Definitely not getting it now, not enough of a leap. Not upgrading it like a phone.

So the XB1 is the Dreamcast, the PS4 is the PS2, the Neo is the GameCube, and the Scorpio is the Xbox.

Didn't they already try that once?

I have a 4K HDR TV. I already own a PS4 and a Xbox One so l was very keen for a 4K bluray player. Without this feature l'm not as tempted to grab the Pro on launch. I'll probably wait ~6 months.

Unless you have a HDR tv it does nothing.

Improved colors and lightning.

Probably not. The games I play the most on PS4 run perfectly fine. I doubt Yakuza 0 or Persona 5 will be much different on the Neo (I'm gonna call it that for as long as possible). Once fighting games and character action games start to run like shit on the OG PS4, I'll consider.

I'm definitely getting some kind of new hardware next year whether it be the Neo, NX or Scorpio. When and what is the question.

Yep. But only because I don't already own a PS4. Otherwise I probably wouldn't. I was planning on getting a PS4 this year anyway, and then held off once the Neo info leaked. So glad I waited.

I think the first Digital Foundry of a game that shows significant upgrades of a major AAA game for 1080p owners will end up selling a lot of PS4 Pros

As of right now... probably not. I don't have a 4K or HDR television, and as I've recently upgraded my PC, the only thing I'll be using my PS4 for in the foreseeable future is exclusives, of which I can think of only two titles I'll be buying in the next six months or so. I just don't see the benefits for a 1080p/non-HDR set for a small handful of titles, especially not at four hundred smackers.

You know what's going to sell alot of them? That price and the fact is releases early November.

well yeah that too, I think it will sell well anyway, but a lot of people on the fence/mad about 4k blu-ray will be swayed at that point. I mean, there are people on gaf that decided to buy an Xbox One S when they saw Quantum Break had less tearing

If there's a good trade in deal. Also will wait until after first adopters have played through all of the defective consoles.
