Anyone else pumped for this game? I was a huge Armored Core fan and still am, but haven't bought a title in the series since ACII for the PS2..i loved it, but now i hate it because it didn't have no analog control at all :lol

I'm hyped for this one though because its the next gen version and it finally has online arena play! The past several versions on ps2 didn't really pique my interest

when is the X360 version out?

I was gonna get Ps3-version but heard X360-version had much better framerate...
 
I'm looking forward to this, hopefully it'll be region-free like Sega's other 360 output cause' no UK date has been announced yet. Boo. :(

The source is this forum. Those of us who played the Japanese AC4 on PS3 and the demo on 360 could tell the difference right away.
 
I'm getting the 360 version when it is finally released in Japan. I have played the PS3 version a few times and the 360 demo at least definitely looked better (AA, some extra effects) and ran smoother. Rumble is always nice too!
 
I love mech games and AC4 looks more ZOE-ish which is awesome!

If AC4 goes more for arcade than simulator like the last few AC installments, than considering it a step more towards ZOE wouldn't be insulting. :p

I say this as an owner of all the AC PSX and PS2 games as well as ZOE. :)

Well it does look more arcade/ZOE-ish when compared to the previous AC games....But I seriously don't expect ZOE2-ish level of ownage. :P

We have seen amazing changes to games in less time than that. I'm just saying, I'd like to see if they worked out the frame rate in that extra time.

Somehow I doubt it. From Software tends to take the path of least resistance.

Dunno if I'm getting this game, it releases the same day as EDF3 US and to be honest that game is going to kill AC4 imo. Getting tired of mech games in general as well. Oh and it doesn't help that I've barely put any time into Chromehounds
 
3/20, will be sent to my doorstep.

Can't wait for, as Bepbo said, AC with faster, ZoE style gameplay (Ground boosting = free)

Framerate, I've heard is AC2 style, 60 FPS top with mostly 30+fps., Plays all distinct frames. No Tearing.
Too bad Deathmatch online wasn't too steller, like CH though.

PS3 = free online, more subtle lighting, (can be installed?)

360 = Live chat, community Achievements, and (supposidebly) smoother framerate

The heat haze I mentioned to Brian was actually in reference to the mission Desert Wolf. There's a heat haze effect on the horizon. On the 360 demo it looks really nasty, whereas on the PS3 it's far more subtle. The reflection in that shot on the 360 version is actually because the camera is positioned at an angle, thus showing the reflection.

If people want to get silly and pedantic, which they already are, the PS3 version is the more graphically proficient. It has more effects which are implemented in a more convincing manner, plus it doesn't have the blurry nonsense on the 360 version. That being said, both versions are very similar graphically and play identically (on the demo at least).

this game is awesome.

Differences between graphics on PS3/Xbox 360 are pretty minimal (large framedrops in certain parts, but Xbox 360 version is slightly better).

probably mostly hardcore AC fans online anyway which is a good thing.

so how does this stack up as an AC game?

Quicker Play, overboosting is not needed much anymore.

AP levels changed, new system for energy/damage, controls like Nexus.

Arena still = freaking hard, however you have access to all parts to install without having to buy them (saved only for mission mode)

I saw this on 2ch a while back, and while its not a huge difference I was surprised that effects got added to the 360 version AND it runs smoother to boot even though it is a port of the original PS3 version (I think so at least).

For those who can't read the explanations for the circles I will translate it a bit.

PS3 - Big Oval on the Left side: "No reflection in the glass."
360 - Big Oval on the Left side: "Reflection in the glass."

PS3 - Top Left Oval: "No lighting from the booster flares below."
360 - Top Left Oval: "Lighting from the booster flares."

PS3 - Big Oval close to the bottom: "No contortion (blurring) effect from the boosters."
360 - Big Oval close to the bottom: " Contortion (blurring) effect from the boosters."

PS3 - Bottom Oval: "Jaggies."
360 - Bottom Oval: "No jaggies."

Those improvements don't look minor to me but nice translation find nonetheless Xbox 360 version for me :)
 
My mayor gripe with the game is lame HUD. wtf, why are developers giving us next gen games with out the old gen features. Last AC game i played was 3 and you could customize your HUD and change its colors. Losing your targeting reticles due sky or some terrain makes me angry =/

Other gripe is loading times.....

Ill pass on buying the domestic version.

Well... you have to take it in context of that image and look at the differences yourself. Its not that huge, but the difference is there if you look for it. I especially notice the blur effect in the boosters and the anti-aliasing on the Xbox 360 version.

Reboot Season 3 was my first gig with them actually. It's also the only one that I'm included in the credit roll because of the stringent Canadian content law that Mainframe had to abide by for their government subsidy.

Question though, can map your controlls at all? cause shooting with X and A on 360 is stupid when you need to use both sticks to move.

Doubtful. Probably all the drawings are by Brandon McCarthy, who was there from the get go of the show's creation. I just did designs for some of the set pieces in season 3.

Don't worry, I'm certain From Software will resume focusing on Playstation development now that the PS3 is out; and the next iteration will be vastly improved.

Or it will just be marginally improved with remixed missions on the same game engine like everyone before it.

And HDTV's will still be too expensive.

I'm pretty sure the North American version will be region free like many Xbox 360 games are so it might be worth checking an import site.

if i remember correctly, AC4 uses modified chromehounds engine.
 
I'm getting the PS3 version, for the free online.

No voice chat for teamwork will be disappointing, but compared to "funny" people I speak to on xbox live, it's both a blessing and a pain :)
