Armored Core IV! Hype !

Wait, you already have gold live account, but you are gonna go with the gimped online play cause it's free? *scratches up a bald spot*

Nope bcos I dont want to lag out on the peer to peer xbox 360 version.

I have played the Jap version of the PS3 AC4 at my friend's place , online play was really lag free.

I was sadly informed that this is not coming out in Europe. Which sucks ass. I love mechgames. :(

I highly doubt that AC4 for PS3 is using dedicated servers.

I don't believe it is. I have played the PS3 version online a few times as well and it can get pretty laggy depending on who you are playing with.

I really don't see why anyone with an Xbox Live gold subscription would get the PS3 version, but whatever works!

hype rising for this....last Armored Core title I played was AC2

...I have "meh" feelings about efforts from "From Software" though....I was also one of the people that didnt care for Chromehounds

EGM scores are 4.0, 6.5, 4.0

Just to bring some people that may not have seen them back to earth. Don't get too excited, the second coming this isn't.

Edit: I just mean that people should go in with certain expectations, not trying to troll.

My reason is because my Xbox crapped out :( so I have this live service I paid for and I can't use it because the POS system crapped out on me, so PS3 version for me.

Definite brightness difference (but this can be fixed with settings on a TV)...

The 360 one was smooth and the PS3 one had obvious framerate issues.

Are these comparisons using the Japanese or North American PS3 Armored Core 4? I'm still holding on to the smallest of hopes that they spent the extra months fixing the NA release.

edit: Nevermind, I watched the video and noticed it's in English.

If and when the price goes down i will buy the ps3 version. The demo on Live can hold me until then.

$40 or bust. I have a feeling it will drop in price quickly, so I'll keep checking out Half and Amazon Marketplace.

Theres another difference in that image thats not mentioned, theres heat haze from the boosters on the 360 version but not on the ps3 build, check out the rippled bricks.

But who says the netcode on the 360 version is any better/worse? it could work out the same for lag, also depends who you play and how far away there are etc for both versions.

THE SUPERIOR TISSUE! (additionally a nifty AC pun that you f@ckin' n00bz won't get)

I hope you get your f@cking ZOE shite on the god damned Wii.

And hooray for omitting the comparison text from the AC4 shots!

The heat haze I mentioned to Brian was actually in reference to the mission Desert Wolf. There's a heat haze effect on the horizon. On the 360 demo it looks really nasty, whereas on the PS3 it's far more subtle. The reflection in that shot on the 360 version is actually because the camera is positioned at an angle, thus showing the reflection.

If people want to get silly and pedantic, which they already are, the PS3 version is the more graphically proficient. It has more effects which are implemented in a more convincing manner, plus it doesn't have the blurry nonsense on the 360 version. That being said, both versions are very similar graphically and play identically (on the demo at least).

Yes, the GAF J-Xbot Martyrs are hard at work spinning. Keep on truckin' jerks!

I always find it funny when people post info like this that is completely overlooked.

Leaving the thread to be derailed by a continued stream of posts stating how the ps3 is inferior to the 360.

I suppose it's just an indication of the age of those who pony up the 600 dollars for the ps3.

Is online regionalized? Can if I buy a NTSC copy and play with NTSC-J players? Also is it true that this isn't coming out in Europe?

Similar thing happened with COD3 comparisons. I think it has to do with the video output on the ps3, not exactly the game itself. A little color adjusting should do it.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious, but either the game is your cup of tea and it's that way for either console or it sucks ass on both consoles.

There's no middle ground.

Wow the Xbox 360 version is way too dark oO

Will it loose quality if we increase the brightness on the TV? That tends to happen on my PC monitor.

Btw, the PS3 has online as well right?

I played the Xbox 360 demo and was unfortunatly unimpressed, I was really hoping for a quality Mech game for my 360

Is it out on US live?

I didnt say that the 360 version had a poor netcode (but most probably it's gonna be peer to peer). But anyways as of now most of the online game my friend showed me where against Japanese players and since I live in Asia the lag for it is good.

More PS3 > Xbox360 consoles in Japan. I'm not saying that live is bad or whatnot, but for my case playing against most players in the US will be extrememly laggy.

Is it me or the playstation 3 look way better than the xbox360 on this video .
Some part of the xbox360 is completly dark and you see nothing..

I think so too.... Looks like the gamma is pumped sky high for the ps3 version.. or maybe the gamma was turned way down for the xbox360 version.. i dont know..

But i like how the ps3 version looks more.. Although the 360 version seemed alittle smoother.. I only say this because of that one part where the platform is destroyed in the ps3 version and the framerate seems to drop below 20.. for a second.

They both look great though..

I might be alone on this, but I think the 360 version is too dark, and the PS3 version is too bright. Somewhere in the middle would work nicely.
Wheres the Wii version? lol
:lol

How are the controls on this version? Armored Core games always had the most godawful controls.

Anyway, yeah I also think the xbox360 version is a bit too dark and the ps3 version is too bright. Although, I kind of like the darker look of the xbox360 version.

The ones on his back were giving off much more "ripple" then the ps3 counter part, and I don't mean the white lines. Think of a heat haze that makes things in the distance change shape and wobble like jelly.

Problem is they did not indicate what the settings for the systems were.
Was the PS3 using HDMI? That could be the reason for the gamma difference.
That could be fixed for the 360 by using VGA

Here is an example of more detail in dark areas with VGA on the 360:

I dont know about you, but although vga use to make things lighter at one point (not that much) since the fix its near identical on my screen to component wires now.

Well, those leg parts are wobbly in appearance due to heat-haze. I do notice the aforementioned haze effect to be a bit more prounced in the xbox360 version but if you watch the gametrailers comparison clip, one can see that the ps3 version isn't exactly missing the haze effect especially when you see the clip from the 2min mark.

Maybe I'm missing something. could you provide a screeshot of this effect you're describing from the xbox360 version of ac4?

My first reaction was that the 360 looked better for some reason...

I guess the thruster effects look better just becasue the 360 was darker so the burst of light was a bigger contrast.:lol

Crap i Just realized that my friends PS3 is Japanese and his AC4 is Japanese, did anyone import the Japanese version and played it on another region console? Does the multiplayer work?

Was wondering because I have an Asian machine and wish to import the US version.

If I get it, it will be the 360 version. It is going to be that way with any multiplayer p2p game that is otherwise mostly the same on both consoles. Sure, Live! costs more(and does more), but I've already spent that money. If/When the Home features make it into the xross media bar, I'll be the first one changing my tune.

I remember enjoying the last AC game I played until I got to an area/level/boss that proved impossible with the research paths I'd chosen. Never played it again.

Armored core reviews have been terrible.....

IGN, Game Informer and 1up have theirs up.

All low... low scores.....

*puts rainbow 6 back in 360* sigh.....
