ARMS Global Testpunch Thread: Let's see if this has LEGS

3 and 4 free for all were CRAY ZAY.

And I am Min Min master. Calling it. Really enjoyed her most out of all the playables so far.

I hope Kid Cobra is just as fun.

Also how do you change opponent in 3vs3?

Thats the only thing I was missing, even if I won most of the fights. Hated that there was always a guy waiting in the sidelines for you to finish against the other, but it was so satisfying killing him with only a sliver of life while he had a lot.

Also had 2 perfects in 1vs1. Motion controls work really well when you know what you are doing.

I heard it's pressing up button

Holy hell this game is amazing. My heart was racing at some points, my hands were shacking, too. It was really exciting. Also FUCK FFA. 2v2 also kinda sucks.

But 1v1? FREAKING AMAZING. Also the motion controls were great, and my arms aren't tired in the slightest.

Yeah, 1V1 and 1v1 Volley Ball is the stuff. More players than that does not seem natural in the game. In my matches, 2 players would team up on the last one and then it would just be a 1v1.

This was my favorite 1v1v1.

"Should I walk up these stairs and actually participate? Nah, I'll just stay down here and mop up the win"

This was basically everyone in 1v1v1, kind of annoying. I think 2v2 is where I'll get most of my fun.

I gotta say though, I'm impressed with the netcode. I had zero disconnects and the only lag I noticed was some wonky V Ball physics in one match.

Only disconnects where right at the end, when I assume server was going off.

Overall it's really fun and it's analogous to Splatoon in its relation to the respective genres. Will this game have post launch support?

Yes, new ARMS, fighters, and stages.

Fun!

I had to get used to the motion controls but clicked after 30 minutes orso. Ended with 70 points eventually after getting my ass kicked in first 10 matches. The volleyball was crappy but the fighting was top notch. Really fun and surprisingly deep.

I thought I did reasonably well getting 60 Arms bucks in the hour, but looking at this thread I guess I ain't shit :P

I liked it, though I really didn't pick up the controls quickly enough to feel like I was doing well. I only used double JoyCons. The motion controls work well, but next time I'll try the Pro Controller just to see.

I had such a blast, Only lost 3 times, one of which being that 3-way free-for-all and got teamed up on. 10 matches ended in perfects. Seeing people actually switching to ribbon girl and using the same arms as me and trying to play like me was pretty cute. Can't wait to play more!
If you went against a Spooks playing RG, that was probably me

Also, people leave themselves open for throws a lot.

Had super fun. Lovin me some Ribbon Girl. Racked up an 85 with her (dunno if that means anything). But yeah, im pretty much sold now.

Netcode was awesome for me as well.

I think four player free for all was my less favourite mode. It was far more difficult to follow compared to all the other modes. Im sure the other modes will do this but I wish the timer wasn't the end all be all. I wanted sudden death for times where you draw in volley ball or you don't kill each other in the other modes.

Came in second ( 87- 91) in my lobby. I can feel my blood flowing ;)

So far the only thing that is awkward to me is the change target button being only one button, why not make it all four so you can hit it easily?

Can't wait for the full version so I can actually get a feel for the different characters, their unique abilities, and the different types of arms. I just went with whatever looked fun to me and adjusted on the fly for this hour. I doesn't the last 20 min with the girl in the yellow suit and afterwards read she could hover, which I never did. Next time.

Oddly enough, and counter to much of what I'm seeing here, I found volleyball more enjoyable than fighting. I think the slightly different pace helped. I won all but one of my volleyball matches, but won only maybe half of the fights.

Haven't quite got to grips with the various attack mechanics, and I never managed to use any of the character's specials. Despite that, after trying a few I ended up finding Mechanica the most enjoyable, I'm curious how she'll be when I can figure out her glide. Also, I need to revisit other characters anyway, because it wasn't until about halfway through that I understood charging.

Second in my lobby too, although my score was a good 15 or so behind the eventual leader. And we had quite a bit of traffic to and fro, so my score was largely higher than the rest because I was in for longer than the rest!

That was a ton of fun! At first, the motion controls were hard to use but once I got used to how to punch and move, the game clicked. I never fully mastered them but it felt so satisfying once I started to win with more skill and thought. I also had very few laggy matches, so my experience with a wifi connection was very positive.

I ended up getting very attached to Ribbon Girl. Her multiple jumps make her so much fun to play and tricky to fight. I definitely see myself making her my main once this releases.

Boy was it hard to get my head around the motion controls configuration. I was flailing around with no strategy whatsoever. Done pretty well with Nelix (that is, until I was wrecked by a Master Mummy. That guy is scary).

What is everyone's favourite arm? I like the ones that curve or bounce, because the opponent doesn't see they're coming.

Kinda wish the characters had things to say, or rather much more to say.

They got pretty cool designs, give them a voice as well. Except Helix, he can keep being weird

Lol I got rekt like 60% of the time but it was really fun! Had some close matches but I'm still so crappy with the joy con control scheme....going push on through like I did with Splatoon's gyro controls and get used to them! I noticed that I always kept the joy cons close to me which lead to me going backwards a lot....needa fix that habit. Can't wait for the next Test Punch!

I don't know how I feel about it. The motion controls are fun the traditional controls seem more accurate... In the sense that I know if I throw a curve punch it's actually a curve punch. Motion controls it's like I'm not sure if straight punch is registered as curve punch instead.

Movement is pretty rough to be honest, but it's something that can be mastered eventually.

1v1 was great. The other modes not do much, volleyball became okay I guess. I don't know what else to say the game looked good on my 4k tv. The online matchmaking was great.

For $80 idk. It's fun but I don't like it that much, plus I have a crazy backlog so it's kind of an easy pass. Only see it as a work out game but rather get just dance tbh

Minmin is going to be legit one of the better characters I think with that parry. Her and Ninjara are really good at evading throws.

I like the analogy a few pages ago that you kinda need to treat 1v1v1 like a "Mexican Standoff". That's definitely when the mode clicked more for me, although Ninjara's stage is pretty poor for this mode because it's rectangular layout doesn't give a lot of movement (though you could argue you could induce a disadvantage state on certain characters).

V-Ball is a really interesting fun mode I think that is great when it comes to learning ARMS co-ordination. I really think it deserves extra mention here, I feel like playing that mode made me play better under pressure.

My favorite match was when I was playing Mechanica and went down to "I can't see my own life at" health and then proceeded to knock off 2.5 bars of Master Mummy health to win.

Also people should stop trying to use Master Mummy's "Throw me for free." power.

The connection was surprisingly great. Never had a single disconnect for the entire test punch. This is at least better than the test fire lol. Probably because it's just North America today.

I was wrecking people with Mechanica.

The help section had useful info like air dashing and instant counters.

Mechanica is underrated and I think she's really good in doubles.

Game is actually really good! I won't be playing much tomorrow but I'll definitely try and get back in on Sunday.

You can actually exit a game ypu died in and still get your points. Amazing.

You're going to get a firebird up in your butt if you diss mummy.

Really cool game, first 20 minutes or so were kind of a nightmare but once you got the hang of it became extremely fun, excited to play more tomorrow and try it with the pro controller.

Not feeling the motion controls at all, had real trouble aiming my punches. Might need to watch my hands and hold them straight up.

Can we talk about the solid netcode? I didn't have a single issue.

I saw my throws go straight through them a couple of times, but nothing overly bad.

I'm going to have to play more but I didn't like the motion controls, they felt really imprecise and half the time I was doing something I didn't want to, like I literally could not stop walking backwards, it felt like I had to hold the joycons completely horizontal. It was like a bad Wii game. I switched to traditional and I didn't quite have time to get used to them before it ended but it felt a lot better to be able to move where I wanted to, there were some things that still felt off like trying to throw a curved punch one way while moving another, but it seemed better.
